Scary looking because Philly has too many guns, but this place is awesome! Chicken teriyaki stick is amazingly tasty, a big portion, for tiny money.

Won ton soup was good, with crunchy things to put in.

Great place to get your sober on.

Jaguar. Order one if you really enjoy tequila. This place elevates mixology to a true craft.

Loved it, but... the mosquitoes ate us alive as soon as it *started* to get dark.

My friend said his steak wasn't cooked right, but chose to keep it, eat it, because it was close.

My pasta fra diavlo was spectacular.

The inside seating looked gloriously mission-style and inviting. I wish we'd eaten inside.

Bathroom was old-fashioned, in a 30's style, and lovely.

I'd definitely eat here again, but sit inside.

Beautiful view from my 21st floor room. Service was wonderful. Warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in is a cutesy touch. Fitness center & pool/jacuzzi a nice break in this urban hotel.

I'm lucky I got the last room on a jammed week.

Running on very little sleep, I stopped in for a "help me look rested/younger!" conversation. Emily took incredible care of me, even giving me samples of the Pevonia Caviar line.

Katie is a wow asset to this place. I'm sure you know how mornings are, y'know, the before coffee interactions? Well, there was a misunderstanding about whether an americano was hot or iced. The guest would have been happy if the espresso was poured over ice, but Katie said it'll ruin the taste of the espresso & quickly made her a fresh drink. She could have bs'd but she cared enough to do it right, which impressed us guests.

Atmosphere was warm, cozy, aesthetically a perfect complement to the menu.

Salad bar? Yeah, erm, I should have chosen the caesar salad. Next time.

I'm not a gal who typically wants a massive meal, so I didn't order sides or dessert.

I'd love to try their seafood and sides. Next time.

When I'm in Roanoke, a visit to Thelma's is part of my Saturday routine. However, last time, I made an attempt to add a healthy vegetable. Huge mistake. Fuggetabuddit! Just enjoy the potatoes, chicken & waffle. I'll have a healthy salad somewhere else.

The staff here warms my heart. Sweet & soulful, just like the waffles.

I used to only get take-out from Cafe of India, and always the same thing: tandoori shrimp masala & aloo paratha or aloo naan. Twice in as many months, I decided to try dining in the restaurant, once for the lunch buffet so I could try a few new things, and once to use a groupon and have my favorite shrimp masala.

The first time, for the lunch buffet, the service was slower than molasses in January, and I got so sick afterwards. I thought it might just have been the intense variety of spices imbibed, although that's usually not a problem.

The second time, I wouldn't have thought it possible for the service to be any slower... but, sure enough... our waiter disappeared. We were forgotten. Finally, I asked another waiter for help, and our food came out, but the usual raita and chutney that comes with naan didn't come, and I had to ask for it... first, a huge bowl of raita came out. I said, I thought there'd just be a little of each, to go with the bread... so he took it back & brought out small bowls of each.  It took forever to get our tab, too, and then longer still for the waiter to settle it.

Forget dining in at this place. Ugh.

Well, I'm not sure whether to blame the cab driver or myself. I wish there was a rule that cab drivers are not allowed to ask their guests out or pass out their business cards from their other job. I wanted to tell the guy to shove his card, but I didn't dare be rude.

Ladies, learn from my experience. There's a driver working for this cab service who is a major con artist. When he gives you his business card, don't do what I did. Give it back to him, tell him that's his tip, since he thinks it's valuable enough to give to you. Pffft.

*lesson learned from my mistake*
