Located in downtown Decatur square it is located right next to Siam Thai! Very nice dark wood and brick interior, very inviting and great for large groups. You can actually have a great meal n share the entrees and the tapas for a fun meal. Don't forget the sangria or the great selection of Spanish wines.
Tapas galore!!
-3 choice of cured meats : all so yummy we got the house ham, salami, and a paprika cured ham ! All delicious and thinly sliced served with a
yummy sweet honey mustard dip.
-3 types of sausages: u really enjoyed the links my favorite has to be the lamb, all juicy and great tapas serving size (able to share with party of 6)
-boar meatballs
-grilled asparagus with prochioto
-pork belly with yogurt sauce and apple tapas special: delicious combo! Sweet and tarty helps break the fatty pork belly nicely!
-mussels in a great sauce with crusty italian bread: great sauce I think u can order this as an entree if u don't share!
-goat cheese balls fried served with a yogurt honey sauce: amazingly decadent the sauce makes this dish! Nice crust and soft warm goat cheese.
-pumpkin salad with pomegranite seeds: very yummy and the pumpkins were nicely roasted and sweet, this is a special and can be an entree salad it's huge!
Entrees
- pot roast style goat meat served with pasta n soft boil egg: very creamy and the goat was soft not gamey and deliciously carmelized.
- lamb ribs with cauliflower and Brussels sprouts.. Omg so good breaks away from the bone so easily mmm mmm. It was a yummy sauce that seaped into the lamb and coated it beatifully.
All the foods were amazingly seasoned and were all delicious. The restaurant was able to handle a large crowd very well. Our waitress Sam was so sweet and came back to make sure our sangrias were filled and our platters that were empty were taken away! She almost took a platter of lamb ribs that had a bit left, but our dining companion Cam made sure it was to maintain for him to devour!
Great dining companions . Party of 6 is perfect size for this tapas style
Spanish restaurant. Order entrees and share em to make it fun!!
What made it even more special was the handsome manager and co-owner came by to say hello! The staff is friendly and very personable , great food, ambiance, and service!! So happy Decatur has another great restaurant!!

Garcia and Martha..just the best in customer service. They are from Columbia but took over this little bakery 20 yrs ago from a Cuban family- and they were more then willing to continue baking the wonderful Cuban bread. From the hours of 10am-3pm the sandwiches are made (Mon-Sat) they are closed Sunday folks..so get your hot pressed Cubans during this time! The Place is open til 7pm but the sandwiches are only sold til 3pm...so you were for warned..don't be strolling in at 6pm expecting a hot Cuban waiting for yeah!

Other pastries looked delectable as well, and Garcia was such a sweet man, he gave me a cheese guava pastry to try. The pastry is pretty much like a fresh turnover, stuffed w/ a creamy white cheese and guava jam.. the crust was flaky, buttery, and melted in my mouth.

So the sandwich is as Sean M. would say "FUCKING AMAZING"
It was nice and toasty, and the Swiss cheese melted to perfection without being soggy. Enough ham and roasted pork  to make a Jewish girl blush! The roasted pork has a hint of cumin and garlic the ham well its ham. The most spectacular thing about this sandwich is the bread! Amazing fresh baked Cuban  Bread.. I saw Martha prep it, buttered the outside and pressed it in a non-grill mark presser, layered with pickles and a mojo special sauce (which tasted like mayo and some mustard with maybe garlic powder??) The bread came out crusty and warm- and smelled amazing!! When you bite into it, their is a nice crunch, and sourness from the pickles.
They will specifically ask you if you want the original Cuban or do you want lettuce and tomatoes ( if you get this you might as well go to Quiznos or Subways) and they would secretly laugh at you while they put the lettuce and tomatoes on your requested non-Cuban sandwich. SO PLEASE just stick to the Original authentic Cuban folks!

The Cuban bread  looks like a baguette but don't let it fool yeah, it's so light you can easily crush it by carrying it home, so maybe it's best to just nibble on it on the way home. I want to do a special Shout out to Aldo who started the Yelp thread on where to find Cuban Bread.. thanks man.. this place is awesome!

Side note: these guys provide bread to the soon to reopen Havana and Kool Korner ( apparently the owner drives from Alabama to get some bread!!)

I was sitting contemplating between a 3 or a 2 and to be honest DAMN YOU YELP FOR NO HALF STARS!! Cause in my mind, this place deserves a whopping 2.5 STARS!

Starter:

1) Yucca Fries
2) chicken and beef Empanadas

The Empanadas were solid, very juicy pieces of mince meat in a savory tomatoe sauce, wrapped with a nicely crispy fried dough .
Sadly the Yucca fries felt like they were mashed, seasoned, reshaped and fried.. and it was too oily for my taste. I like my Fritters crispy, golden, and not a hint of OIL!

Main Dishes:

1) Cuban Sandwich
2) Pork roasted served w/ rice and black beans

Cuban Sandi was a total let down, not pressed or toasted, it tasted like a subway gone bad...

The roast pork was alright, nothing to drive out here for.. I'd rather nibble on a mings roast pork even after all those rumors of a kitty situation ( if you know what I mean!) .. The pork was mildly juicy here and there, and some parts were dried as hay!

Really was hoping for a splendid experience, especially based on the Yelp reviews by some folks that I think have awesome palates.. maybe it was an off night? Maybe I should come back??

There shall be a 2nd review.. to balance this questionable experience !!

Ok let's start off with this place was not the place I had intended on coming into town for. I really wanted so badly to go to Spotted Pig,but the wait was insane, dinner would be at 10pm, I mean for reals? But you know what looking back in hind site, I should have waited.

So we are walking around, and we see this place, the menu is reasonable and it looked empty.. a good sign or a bad sign who cares at this point cause we just wanted to sit and eat a meal. So we asked for a table of 7, and though the place was dead empty at the moment the guy told us hold, and let him check. I was thinking ok, you gotta be kidding me.. I mean serious? Eventually he came back and said we would be seated soon.

Service was alright in the beginning, our drinks came out promptly..but that was it. Our waitress never came by to tell us that the food would take a whopping 45 minutes to come out, but the chef did send our complementary beet salad appetizers. The Beet salad was refreshing and pretty good, but nothing memorable.

I ordered the Lamb, and it was cooked well, but very lightly season. It came with a side of beans, now the beans were tasty!

The guy who served bread, every time I said thank you, he said god bless you. I was a little confused and I thought I heard wrong at first, but nope he did say god bless you! Very interesting..

Anyhow it's an OK, for fast service it is not. But they did send us away with thank you cookies.
YAY..
and cookies were good, even after 3 days of sitting in my purse I munched on them, they were still moist!

Sushi Yasuda

Is this place the best sushi I have ever eaten? I dunno about that. But it might go like this, I have never had sushi in Japan- I like my fish buttery and fatty, and my rice a bit moist and vinegary , and though the fish here are flown from all over the world, like Greece and Spain, the selections of fatty fish were few for that night's matsu menu.

The nigiri quality to me is like a 3 stars, its good but I wouldn't eat at 930pm for it again. But sushi is far more about the art isn't it folks? If you sat at the table, and ate the sushi here, you would definitely find it more then less memorable, but again I want to stress on the journey rather then the actual meal itself for a place like this, because really how can you mess up on sushi? it's raw fish placed on rice! Unless you went to an American Grocery store (Whole foods) or Korean owned joint, it is expected that the sushi will be good from a Japanese joint!

Sitting at the bar and having the sushi chef  recommend us what type of fish to get was quite an experience. He taught us that wasabi should never be mixed with soy and how it should be place on the fish and be eaten, how soy is for light dipping only, and nigiri should  never be fulled immersed in the soy, you loose the flavor of the fish. I was also able to eat with my hands, and that was fun too!
The wasabi was fresh, and you can taste the grated root, and it was sweet, not a mind blowing sinus clearing wasabi that I am used to, and kind of fond with.  The best nigiri of the night for me came from Spain, I think it was a Spanish fish of some sort, it was delicious and buttery. I need to remind myself I have never been a fan of octopus. My friend Joe ordered it and it was just to me, a rubbery piece of something, but apparently it is never frozen and cooked there, unlike some place, said the Sushi Chef.

Now what I really enjoyed was the Saki, the warm Saki was amazing, it was sweet and warm, and left no alcoholy taste at all, it was very clean.
What you should skip is drinking coke at a sushi place. I think for this is the ultimate punishment for them to their customers. I mean really? My eating companion who I will call Joe ordered 3 cokes, that came out in tiny old school cola bottles, cute ey? Yeah for 4 bucks a pop it wasn't so cute. What does this mean? I think they are pretty much saying, dude don't drink soda with good sushi.. Message Received!!

Come for the intimate experience with the Sushi Chefs leave learning a bit more about the Japanese Sushi Culture!
4 stars for a great fun experience at the Sushi Bar
3 stars for overall food ( it was good but not my best sushi.. the best? surprising Taka in Atlanta!) of all places..

The first bar stop once I flew into the city at 11am! It was happening on a Thursday night, with a 5 min wait we were quickly seated. The place is pretty small and extremely dimly lit, can seat approx. 50 people max.
They play lively Euro-Mix, Euro-Trash Music which keeps the atmosphere fun, rather then sleepy (cause you known dim lights makes me YAWN!!)
They serve great appetizers of hummus and assorted varieties of middle eastern snacks. What was a bit sad for me was there is no grape leaves:( boo hoo..
What made it up was their peach hookah It was yummy and light. They serve a good mojito too I had to get a 2nd! The wine and beer selections are a good handful but respectable.
Would be a great place to bring a date or hangout with friends.  I would definitely come back if I was in town!

It's a good fun place to go , especially since it is so well known. But honestly folks, fatty pork belly with asian steam buns should not be going for 9.00 a pop. You can get something like this in chinatown for 1/3 of the price.. or you can come to my house and I can make the exact thing for you .. if you bring the beer and wine!
I have to admit the pork belly was cooked til tender and the fat melted in my mouth, the crispy cucumbers gave the dish a freshness to it, while the hoisin sauce just tied it all together nicely!!!  Squeeze the siracha baby to add a kick to a dish that is pretty much a rural  village style meal in Asia.
What I find was cute was the milk in a tiny gallon style bottle! The coffee milk was awesome!!! The soft serve ice cream that you can get to try was a great size to end the fatty meal! Would I crave this place and come back? Nah..but it was defintely good..and I can understand why it is so popular!!

I couldn't find anything here that is worth anything. They carry alot of designers that are pricey, D&G, Chloe, and Michael Kors to name a few. The additional % off sale rack does not compare to Atlanta..but there is alot of items to sift through. Overall it is ok, and worth while to stop in to try to find something, I just found leggings that were fun and cheap!
The store is huge, and I think the purse department is the gem for this store, so many selections, and basic styles that look good for any outfit!

Is this the best filene's in NYC probably, but like any large dept. store that carries last years fashions, it is a definite hit or miss! This time I came into town, it was a hit for sure! I was able to buy a pair of hudson jeans that retail for 160.00 for 31.00 , my friend bought a pair of hudsons for 25.00, amazing huh? Found a cute necklace as well for 20.00 very j crew! overall the place is a shopping haven for those who like 3 stories of packed brand name items. I think this place is better for european / and out of the country toursit, because everything can be found under one roof, for such a great discounted price. Fashion conscious folks might not like this place as much, because again, the items would fall under the category of last years fashion, or last seasons.

Papaya Dog

Solid hot dog. First night I came here was at 4am on a Friday morning, and there were 2 drunk guys chilling and waiting for their dogs. The guys at this joint must have lotsa stories every night because the 2nd time I came people were drunk and ridiculously silly yet again. Come for the dogs, stay for the side show! Lets get down to business.. The dogs are super good due to the fact they have the most awesome onion relish concoction I have ever tasted. I can't figure out what is in it but based on the lingering sensations on my tongue.. I am thinking ketchup, sugar, vinegar, all cooking down the onions into this gooey mess of awesomeness.
I like my dogs w/ onions, sauerkraut, and mustard.. none of that ketchup shit. The dogs are 1.50 and seriously perfect after a late night drinking session! Service is fast, friendly, and they can bags it to go without being too messy to take home and to pig out on the couch.
What gets me coming back is honestly the onions... it's oh so good.
