Happy Birthday Double Windsor.

We of Windsor Terrace have been awaiting your birth for months.

What a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Opening night saw many familiar neighborhood faces. The lighting is perfect, the large windows that keep the neighborhood in view are spectacular, and the staff was lovely. It feels like it's always been there.

I would have tried to be the first reviewer last night, but I had one too many of the specials before heading home.

Double Windsor, I look forward to watching you grow.

My friends and I are big fans of places to go that make you feel like you're on some island on vacation. This one certainly fits the bill.

So, you know how there are places that are right around the corner and that you never go to? I mean, it could be for any number of reasons...with this place, I think it's because I forget it's there. It is so close but not on my way to the train, so it's just not in my mind. Also, I had heard some mediocre reviews and wasn't totally into trying it.

OK, that's a little bit of a lie. I did come here once a few years back for brunch with friends in the hood, but it was relatively unmemorable and I don't think I was eating meat at the time...so, how could that count at all?

In any case, I went here with my friend and neighbor and had a pretty hearty meal for not very much money. It's pretty down home Mexican and Spanish fare. The wait staff was really nice and they even had some live jazz inside. Like it's been said, it is not the best Mexican, but it is totally fine for what it is, and even more, it is so close to home I can practically jump there. I'll be back. Must partake in the happy hour.

Now that I've been coming here for years, I can throw on another star. There are a couple of pretty good diners in Park Slope and I am happy to have this one near my place. I might lean on it more because it is convenient, but they are also always super nice, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. Good nabe staple.

It's a diner. Not a great one, but close to home. Staff was really nice and I am sure I will return.

I was nervous to try this place, with some of the crappy reviews from when it first opened. But, I work in SoHo and knew I'd have to get around to it at some point. Maybe it is all the choices down here, but we get stuck figuring out where to go on a daily basis. We had actually walked in, checked out a menu, and walked out a few months back.

Anyhoo, we finally did make it here, and were pleasantly surprised. The decor and wait staff were uber SoHo "chic" (is that what they call hipsters in overpriced duds?), but very nice. The food was good on the portions and very tasty. The pricing is as expected in the hood, but with the amount of food you get, actually quite worth it. I had the cobb salad, which was very fresh and yum. My companion, who is one of the pickier eaters I know, gave the mac and cheese, as well as the experience, a thumbs up .

If I can put a place on my "approved for lunch" list which must pass the test of my picky coworker lunch buddy, I'm a fan. Yay.

Very cute space with a yummy, decently priced brunch. We got there on a Saturday at 11am, which was a great idea since it was packed with a bunch of people waiting by the time we left. The eggs were fluffy and delicious, the service was nice and responsive, and the bill wasn't steep. All in all, a place worth visiting.

OK. The first time I wrote about these guys was way back in 2006. And, you know what? I still go and they still rule. The craving comes from within the office. Someone pipes up with "Calexico today?" as I was thinking to myself "I should really have a nice salad"... and then the craving overtakes, I get up in the cold, stand on line, and grasp for the extra "crack sauce" that I so desperately need.

You know why this shit is hyped? Because it's worth it.

Not only some of the most delicious food I've had from a cart, some of the most delicious Mexican food I've had in New York and some of the nicest service I've come across. These guys are great! Pulled pork makes me so happy. And so not kosher.

Well, I love Bar Toto, and now I love Bar Tano. Same great atmosphere in a smaller place. It's a bit younger and more hipster, but that's because of the nabe - further along the rough edges of the Slope as opposed to right in there. But, they have the same diverse wine selection allowing me to purchase a $20 bottle of a very decent Montepulciano or opt for something more expensive if I feel like it. And the food is delich. I've not been there in the evening where I hear it turns a bit more into a bar, but I look forward to it.

So, I finally came here in person. I have had the cupcakes a few times, but had never ventured in myself. I was so happy in here! It was like my very own sweet little palace of sweet goodness. I opted for the chocolate chip banana bread (oh GOD) and a small brownie, and sat in the adorable atmosphere with an iced tea noshing and MMMing. Oh, how happy I was.

Hello sweet, sweet cupcakes! Hello! You are made from flours that do not destroy my belly and you taste like yum even if your texture is slightly more like a muffin than a cupcake. But, seriously, who the HELL cares? Put you in my mouth. I was able to eat cake for my birthday last year. That, my friend, is a wonderful thing.

I want to smush your icing in my fingers and then all over my face, because it is like being 1 again and having my first cake.

I gotta hand it to you, Pala. I like you better than Risotteria for a gluten-free pizza choice. Your pizza is...just...better. (I'm sorry!!) The fact that you can opt for a gluten-free, soy pizza? Hello, vegan, sensitive belly heaven. And, no one will be angry with you for taking them there. Because there are options for everyone. Want some meat? Sure! Here you go. Want some cheese? Perfect. Want a fully vegan meal and some water? Not a problem.

It's central to everything on the LES. Last time I was here I stumbled out after scarfing down an entire pizza and most of a bottle of wine, while people watching on Allen. Another time, I took pizza home with me, only to eat the rest of it right when I got home. So, for me, not really an option if I'm trying to diet. But, trying to carboload? Take me.
