It's been years since I was here last. They've upgraded their rooms, which are now nicely appointed. I love the atrium, and the view from the top floor balcony. The hotel is very near some decent shopping and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed eating lunch in the lobby restaurant and the service in the bar at night was super.
I also love the balcony. It was nice to unwind after my long day in the cool breeze out there.
My biggest issue was that the water pressure in the shower was one of the lowest of all time. When I adjusted the shower head to massage, it laughed at me. There wasn't enough pressure to make this setting work, so I just put it back on soft spring shower and made the best of it.

But two things make this hotel a great stay.
Location; walking distance to NCSU, various eats and Cameron Village; about a mile from the capitol/downtown.
Beds; TempurPedic- best bed in the world!
The rooms are fairly well appointed, the TV was not working properly, but I told them about it and I've not had this problem with past stays. Often I have a hard time with the temperature, but I was told the hotel is about to redo all thermostats.
No, it's not the nicest hotel, but the staff are friendly and I love staying here, so I can put up with the irritants.

But that being put aside for a great massage, I really enjoyed the mens locker room. Odd that it had all the TVs, the comfy chairs (a guy was actually eating lunch in there!) and the work out machines (in a locker room??? Nude workouts?).
Great massage, nice sauna and private shower stalls made for a really nice afternoon. Hope to do it again sometime (maybe I'll actually get in a good workout first). I'll just smile knowing you've made a Pagan so happy without buying into the religion.

If I had the money, I could easily drop a few thousand dollars here shopping for friends and family.
And my version of hell would be having to work there for a day or more.
Wish I could give a better review, but recalled that I'd tried to shop here about a year ago and was forced out for the same reason. And to think, they make the floors like that on purpose!
The fish I had here was only OK. It still had that silver skin on it, which was bothersome to me. It also had a few bones, so eat carefully. But it was the sides which saved the day. The fried okra was great, the greens were good, the bread was fresh and then dessert. OMG, the dessert! I had to get that to go, though, as the food was filling.

It was difficult to find the exact pick up location, and I do that for a living all over the world; find pick up locations. They (EWR, not Marriott) should do something about that!
The van continuously runs around the terminals to the hotel, so when we were told it would be 5, 10 or 15 minutes, we were very confused. But it showed up in about 10 and things progressed.
The lobby was impressive for an airport hotel, stately, modern, clean. It smelled of pumpkin pie when we walked in (prolly some coffee shop or something).
I fell in love with the fact that they play a loop of airplane landings and takeoffs behind the front desk. My eyes glassed over and my attention stayed sharply on the wide screen TVs.
The staff were super friendly and check in was a breeze. The rooms were nice but smaller than most Marriotts I know. The workout room is nice
