A friend of mine had a great experience at Los Feliz Hi-Tech, so when my hard drive took a dive, I decided to take it over to them and see if they could help. I was looked to get my data backed up, a replacement drive, and also solve a nagging trackpad problem that had been malfunctioning for awhile.
Unfortunately, I found them to be extremely unreliable and somewhat dishonest. There initial estimate of three days turned into over two weeks. Communicating, getting an honest answer, and ultimately results was like pulling teeth. This is not an honest business.
I'm a very experienced mac user and felt very patronized by the staff at Los Feliz Hi-Tech. When I took the computer in, which is six months old, they implied it should be no problem recovering the data and assured me they would email and call with updates. After a week with no calls or contact from Los Feliz Hi-Tech, I called and asked what was up. The tech told me my drive was useless, completely unrecoverable, and I was at a total loss. He said they were going to go ahead and send in the drive to get a replacement unless I was willing to send it out of house and pay THOUSANDS of dollars. I was shocked.
I got off the phone and called all my tech friends who insisted these guys were lying to me. Everyone suggested I take my computer elsewhere. So I called back Los Feliz Hi Tech and told them I wasn't satisfied. Only when I threatened to take my business elsewhere and get a second opinion did they "magically" have a breakthrough with the drive and wear able to save some of my documents. A few days later I went in to pick it up and found out they saved very little. Nothing that I wanted. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking your computer ANYWHERE BUT LOS FELIZ HI-TECH if your hard drive crashes.
Not only did they not recover my data, they also FORGOT to solve the problem I had with the trackpad. When I inquired why they didn't fix it the owner told me, "I guess I forgot to put it in the notes, I'm sorry." When I told him I was dissatisfied he raised his voice and told me I need to stop complaining. Asshole? Yes. It took them several more days to get this fixed.
The shop inside Los Feliz Hi Tech is nice and the guys seem cool, but in this case appearances are deceiving. It seems to me this shop is overwhelmed and has very poor time and project management skills. Avoid them at all costs.
Overall, I do not recommend this business. I've had much more success in the past with Techies. I should've gone back to them, but LFHT was closer to my house. Big mistake.

Cactus Mexican Food
Categories: Mexican, Tapas Bars

So anyway, I thought I'd give it a try.
This stand is gross. Seriously disgusting. They are rated a B, but I've seen cleaner restaurants on the streets of TJ. Not only did the bums out front need a shower, so did the entire stand. There was salsa and day old vegetables all over the bar. I couldn't help but think how many people have walked by and put their hands in it. I felt like I was going to get H1N1 just from standing in front of this place. Had I been carrying a hospital mask, I would've put it on.
Once the tacos came out I was disappointed to learn everything was fried. So much for being healthy. Not particularly tasty but not the worst either. I won't go back. Unless I become homeless. Then I'm parking my ass in front of that salsa stand and having myself a free feast everynight.

This very thing happened to me the other day when I was hanging out at an all day punk festival that didn't allow in-and-outs. I either had to leave the show or go hungry. Decisions decisions. What's a boy to do? I'm never one to just give up so I channeled the inner Zach Morris and came up with the genius idea of calling up the pizza place and ordering delivery to the Echo for me and my friends. That should work, right?
I fooled the girl on the phone for a few minutes until she realized and said, "wait, are you at the Echo?" I couldn't lie so I fessed up. She said they weren't supposed to deliver out the back door but would make this ONE exception because she thought I was brave. Awesome!
The pizza here isn't the best I've ever had, but the employees are rad and you can't really put a price on the convenience factor. Where else can you get pizza when you are waiting Thom Yorke to take the stage?

Little Dom's
Category: Italian
Neighborhood: Griffith Park/Los Feliz
As far as setting and ambiance goes, I'm definitely a fan of Little Dom's. The lighting is soft and dim, the music isn't in your face, and everything just fits. However when it comes to their specialty, pizza, it's nothing special. I don't like the crust and I don't like the options. Otherwise everything else on the menu is pretty good. The chef, who is from Louisiana, does a good job of carving out unique plates that you wouldn't expect in an Italian restaurant. My main critique? They definitely need more clearly defined vegetarian options.
Overall a better experience than I had before and more likely than not I will go back.

If your server tells you they make a great cheese-less pizza, she's lying. It's terrible. It's a giant cracker with burnt vegetables. The only reason I'm giving this place three stars is because they offer several different tequilas. Perhaps for all you dairy lovers this place is great, but if it's good pizza you're looking for, find another place.

Remember that Belinda Carlisle song? I think it goes like this:

Mexico City isn't the best show in town, but they've got a good menu with some options, such as mole sauce and green corn tamales, that you might not find at other places. What's cool is they have dishes that aren't traditional Baja style. I was also surprised to find plenty of vegetarian options and I don't just mean rice and beans.
I don't know about dinner, but I will definitely go back here for lunch. Especially if someone else is driving. That could be you. Pick me up. I'm dying for a drink. Literally. I'm going to die if I don't have a drink. Please someone come quick with a tequila IV. I need help.

Wow, what a difference! What took Los Feliz Hi Tech over two weeks to fix, took the guys at the "Genius Bar" less than one hour!!! Amazing!!
Before I went to the Apple store I very briefly considered going into LFHT one last time to give them another chance. After all, they are my friendly neighborhood shop right? Then I thought about what they told me last time I was in there, thought about my experience, and realized just like my hard drive, my business is unrecoverable. Thanks, but no thanks. Next time I'm going back to the Apple store!
