Hot Dog Heaven

Some people might hate me for saying this, but it's just a hotdog. I mean, it's a good hotdog... but a hotdog can only be so good, ya know?

I guess I just don't get excited about wieners like other people.

I felt like a celebrity eating here. The service, the decor, and especially the food are just a notch above everything else... on earth.

If I were the leader of an alien race hell-bent on taking over the world, my first move would be to distracting the human race with delicious food like everything on the menu at PL8.

I definitely recommend the mushroom sliders and the bratwurst sliders... but only if you like things that are delicious. The swordfish was fantastic (and I hate fish), and every pizza I tried tasted like a slice of heaven.

It's tapas style, so go with a group, get lots of stuff, and share. It's worth it.

Steak n Shake

The first time I ate at Steak n' Shake, I thought to myself, "This is for sure going to give me diarrhea." I decided to stay and eat here anyway... which probably says a lot about me.

Anyway, having such low expectations, I was bound to be impressed as long as nothing went terribly wrong.

It didn't.

I don't eat here often, but when I do, I feel like the Royal is a great choice. It has an egg on it, and when you order it, in the back of your mind you feel like Royalty.

I'm still a little confused on whether or not you pronounce it "Roy-AL" or "ROY-ul." Maybe it's just part of the mystery of ordering a burger with an egg on it.

I haven't tried a shake yet, because I'm lactose intolerant, which means that when I eat shakes, everything on my insides wants to be on my outsides.

For what Steak n' Shake is, it's good. It's better than most fast food restaurants... but not as good as Chick-fil-A... because nothing is as good as Chick-fil-A

The Pine 22 burger was 100% amazeballs!

To say that the mastication process was a pleasure would be an understatement. It was a tad messy, but it kept both my hands and my mouth busy.

I felt like my mouth was having its own personal out-of-body experience. I lost track of both where I was, and who I was. My only focus was existing with that burger in my hands until it reached my mouth.

Now, if you're a Pine 22 n00b, here's how it works:

1) Walk in, pick up a clipboard with a menu on it.

2) Fill that shizzle out.

3) Pay for it, take your number, and sit down.

4) Eat your face off.

What are you waiting for? Go. Now.

Five Guys Famous Burgers and Fries

People freak out over Five Guys like it's made from unicorn farts and angel tears.

It's a burger.

Yes, it's a good burger... but it's not the best burger. Considering the prices, it might even be considered the best valued burger out there... but if a Five Guys burger is the best burger you've ever eaten then you need to go somewhere where they make real food... like not Orlando.

I like bacon, so I recommend you get your angel-tear burger with bacon on it.

Many people do not realize that Five Guys is a great place to bring your vegetarian friends. The grilled cheese and veggie burgers here are almost as good, or maybe even better than the cow burgers.

Try it out. It's true... or is it?

This place is good for you... like sunscreen.

After eating their food, I felt happy, and satisfied, and filled with a desire to return... not bloated, and greasy, and angry at the world like I feel when I eat at other restaurants whose food is bad for you.

The people were nice. Not like Mr.-Roger's-Neighborhood nice, but close.

I'm not a biker, but I'd definitely consider becoming one if it meant I got to eat here more often.

Publix

Dear Publix,

You make Walmart look like the ugly, red-headded stepchild that nobody wants to talk to, let alone be friends with. Your clean, wide aisles, reasonable prices, and happy employees make me feel like a VIP... which I am.

In a city full of sub-par sandwiches, your Pub Subs provide a glimmer of hope. They are the secret to happiness. They are the elixir of joy. The sandwich community owes you a debt of gratitude for creating the best Cuban in town... and no, I'm not talking about Mauricio, I'm talking about sandwiches still.

Seriously, every time I put a Cuban Pub Sub in my mouth, I feel like God has shared with me a little piece of heaven.

The way you toast that delicious concoction of bread, mayo, mustard, assorted meats, and pickles into one giant taste-gasm cannot be rivaled... at least not in this state... and probably not even in Cuba. (Do they have bread there?)

Carry on, dear Publix. You make Florida proud.

Outback Steakhouse

If you are hungry and stuck at the airport (most likely because Delta screwed something up), Outback is probably the best option you've got.

They have meat. They have the Blomin' Onion. They have other things as well... but when you've got meat and onion rings, what else do you need?

One thing I loved is that they ask each guest before seating them when their flight is. I'm assuming that this is because they want to make you not late for your (probably already late, Delta) flight.

That is considerate, if I do say so myself.

I'd go back and visit them if I ever flew Delta and was delayed again.

It's hard to screw up pizza, and these guys do NOT screw it up. It's good. The slices are huge. The prices are reasonable. The taste is... well, it's the taste of pizza.

It's exactly what you'd expect from a divey Brooklyn pizza joint.

I'll be back to stuff my face, and that's no joke.

Oh yeah, the cookies are amazing. Eat one.

White Wolf Café

White Wolf Cafe is Orlando's secret treasure. The decor is super eclectic, the staff is great, and the food is fantastic to the max.

On my first visit, I think everything we ate had lobster... and I'm not really a lobster fan.

The Lobster Mac & Cheese is the 2nd best Mac & Cheese I've ever had (next to Max Brenner in NYC). It's a little pricey, but the lobster was very generously portioned throughout the noodlie pasta paradise.

The Fried Lobster Sandwich, and the lobster dip (appetizer) seemed to be a huge hit as well.

I really want to go back for breakfast one day to see if every meal can be as fantastic as dinner.

Want to come?
