Couldn't you just get most of this stuff by driving through various neighborhoods of L.A. and buying from a yard sale or picking it from the giveaways on the front lawn? I put out a 5 drawer file cabinet yesterday and it was gone by morning. I put out a desk with 2 drawer file cabinet today and it was gone in a few hours. And it was nicer than the stuff at this store.
And someone educate me about the fervor displayed by shoppers for used clothing? you would think they were digging for dollar bills they jumped on boxes of old skanky clothing. At least I was able to assess the dollar value of the file cabinet I put out yesterday: $25.

Doctor: "Is it a bad relationship? A death in the family? You tell us what it is and it goes away."
Me: "Its a restaurant experience"
Doctor: "Let me guess -- Nate & Al's, right?"
And that is how Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind was really based on a Yelp review. Some producer turned it into a love story.
Ok - that was from my first experience. My last time was ok. Roasted turkey was fresh. Chili burger wassalritlght. Iced tea could be better it will do.
Service is still slow. The restaurant is filthy. But what are ya gonna do?

This place is still selling out of date dairy products. How many kids have to sick before they straighten up?

I should have taken a picture of October 7th, 2009 expiration date on the milk at Ralphs. When did I see this? A few minutes ago. Today is the 17th. They also had milk with an October 15th date too. I brought a manager over to point out that children are the primary consumers of milk. I also said that if they get sick from the milk during flu season that includes the risk for H1N1, the liability to Ralphs could be enormous.
This place has always been the skanky Ralphs and it should really be shut down. Or turn it into a Jons.

I had the caldo de pollo which came from the new section that has the bar. And it is nice that they have the food at half off for those visiting the bar side. But I really like this place for it's regular menu.
But I do admire the effort to provide authentic Mexican cuisine to go with the authentic Mexican tequila. Anyway, it's all very good and very reasonable.

Tastes like someone got a kit for what good Southwestern fare should taste like. Got the processed makings and decided this was good food. Like some frustrated food supervisor at a school cafeteria. Wanted to be a restaurateur but this was as far as they got.
It might do well because it does have the one ingredient needed to make the food palatable - drunk customers across the street. The 7 grand might keep'em busy.

Here's the deal: for years this building had crappy restaurants. I was so grossed out by the low end restaurants that were here that I rarely ever ate in this building.
Imagine my surprise when I found seven new restaurants in this place. I hadn't been back in some time and now I have a little more variety to work with at lunchtime. Someone in the leasing department is earning their paycheck.

Tommy Pastrami

Neighborhood: Downtown
First, Sandwich Shop doesn't do roast beef. Secondly, Show Biz complained about Tommy Pastrami's existence as a violation of a promise. Otherwise I might not know it's there. I am waiting for Tommy's hamburgers to sue over the signage since it makes me think of burgers.
So I order the roast beef. Disaster. I kept thinking it was my fault. Like a roast beef sandwich in a pastrami shop is different than elsewhere. But I refuse to be a victim. It just sucks. And by the way. So does the soda. That's an easy call. Something is not right about the syrup.
The nearby competitors have nothing to worry about. I won't get this half hour back or the $13.

They were packed Sunday night. Yet they slipped in our party of four without a reservation by rearranging some things. It was a little tight but they service was great. The bread with garlic and olive oil was very nicely done.
I always admire a restaurant where everyone knows what they are doing. And you can see the whole operation from your table. I was suggesting this would be a good place to have a Top Chef competition.
I had the spaghetti & meatballs. Very good except they were little generous with the salt. In fact that was the only complaint for any of us had. I mixed in more sauce and the salt flavor went away.
