Hello Tourist Trap. Can't knock their view or happy hour prices, but being there for more than one drink makes me skeevy.

This used to be a corporate Sanrio, but they aren't any longer. Hopefully that won't affect the quality of the items here because they always have carried the more boutique items. They have a great section of Hawaii Hello Kitty items as well.

What? Target is in Hawaii now? AWESOME.

Yes, you have everything from a mainland Target but instead of the typical $1 section in the entrance, you get Hawaiian souvenirs and (drum roll).... a SPAM section. Not just SPAM, but books, tees, cups, and other knick knacks. AWESOME.

This review is for the luau only.

Truth: if you've been to one luau, you've been to them all. Still, if you have to hit up a luau on the Big Island, most people will tell you to come here. They aren't steering you wrong.

I've been to a few luaus in my time, and this wasn't the worst, but it wasn't the best either. Food wise, it was pretty good. The pig was tender and moist, the ahi poke was delicious and they had some interesting sides (purple sweet potatoes!) They strategically place the open bar on the other side of the area so it's a bit of a hike to get drinks, but at least you can double fist. The entertainment was typical but I do have to say that their Samoan Fire Dancer was exceptional.

The vibe is super mellow and the sunset is pretty awesome so a good time if you can let your cynical self enjoy it.

Yes, you have to come here to eat if you are in Kona. The beer lovers will appreciate the brews that you can only get on tap on the islands. The food lovers will appreciate the awesome pizza, especially the homemade macadamia pesto.

Pro tip: get there early if you want to head on the tour at 3 - it fills up by 2 if it's a busy time of year. You check in at the shack in front of the place (also where you can get growler fills).

The good: awesome happy hour prices, great view, great steaks.

The bad: inattentive staff, communal seating, blah menu.

The verdict: come for happy hour and the sunset. eat elsewhere unless you want a steak.

The end.

Best food option in HNL? Probably. But you'll be disappointed if you went to the original location in Kona proper because they only serve a limited amount of items from their brewery menu and you have to contend with airport pricing.

Your best bets are the pizza and anything that has the kahlua pork (especially the quesadilla).

And of course, you get to drink beer, so that's a plus.

Awesome breakfast spot in ABQ. I can never get enough of green chile when in ABQ and having it for breakfast on top of really good chicken fried steak was a genius. My friend who lives in ABQ loves this place and I can see why - great food, reasonable prices, nice staff. Winner, winner, chicken fried steak dinner!

Don't be scared by the seedy motel that the restaurant is located in. (Ok, maybe you can be scared, just park right in front and go directly in, do not pass go, do not collect $200, do not be scared by the druggies scoring the parking lot.)

The food is pretty good - we loved our noodle dishes - pad see ewe and drunken noodles, the duck dish and the shrimp appetizer thing. (Ha, my descriptions suck, but I am too lazy to find the menu.)

We had a great time here at their annual friends and family open house where wine was 50% off. The staff is great and the wine is really amazing.

Some unique ones to try:
White Burgundy - Exactly what you think, a burgundy but no skins so it's white. Trick your white wine drinking friends :)
Petite Syrah - this tastes great now, but will taste better in a few years
Petite Syrah Paso Robles Port - the grapes in Paso are different from the ones up in Sonoma, so a distinct flavor
Code Blue - blended with blueberries

The winery has a new label commissioned for each vintage, all with the Parthenon somewhere on it.. They have some on display and have merch with them as well. Totally adds to the experience of your visit.
