As a 'nice' Jewish girl, I feel I am required to review the bagels in my neighborhood.

I made my maiden voyage into Katz Bagels last week, and, as other reviewers have mentioned, the Bagels here are good, but not OMG-good. The bagels are good enough, beyond that I'm weighing the convenience, speed and proximity factors. I ordered an Everything bagel with Lox, capers, onions and whatnot - and it was amazing how efficiently my order was handled. I walked in, ordered, and before I could even get my bearings, the wrapped bagel was in my hand and I was out the door. Seriously, 2 minutes! That's pretty cool.

I would have preferred to have had a nice, warm, toasted bagel and vaguely assumed that it would be toasty without specifically requesting it - that would have made the extremely tasty breakfast feast much more blissful - but it would have taken a few more minutes - Still, I can't fault them for my naivety.

Next time, I will be all over the toast situation.

Wow. I just had the worst experience shopping here. If this were ebay I would give big frowny F+++ highly  unrecommended negative feedback.

The people who work for Dick Blick are. Just, You know. There was absolutely no courtesy to be found in the dead-eyed contemptuous troglodyte who checked me out. He made no effort to assist me, made oddly hostile comments about the number of items in my basket (32) and insisted that I spent over 3 hours in the store. I thought was a joke, because while I took my time and in all, I seriously only spent around 50 minutes in there. Mid-afternoon, at that.

I had considered buying an easel, I was looking at some books... reading things about varnishes and mediums and such. 45 minutes or an hour doesn't strike me as an inordinately long time spent browsing at an art supply store. I was a good consumer, I was conscientious and friendly and spent about $150  As an ironic denouement to this unsavory financial transaction with Sales Associate 4097 I was coerced into buying into their 'Preferred Customer Program'. I left feeling bullied and insulted.

I enjoy relatively friendly interactions with reasonable people - Dick's  selection is not the greatest and lower prices can be found. I won't bother with Dick Blick again.

The vegetarian king foot is like 3 meals. One hint, ask them to go light on the sauce so it doesn't get all soggy. YUM.

Reasonable prices, organic produce and totally friendly ownership. I must harangue them again soon to start stocking Sriracha sauce and some other massive staples which are absent in the neighborhood shops.

Once, when I was blundering about the aisles picking out some Jam, or whatever, I managed to shatter a big glass jar of imported expensive honey and the owner was so sweet and apologetic about it, fussing and worrying about my hands as I surveyed the (goopy honey-glazed wad of) broken glass. I am now eternally wed to this store because of these and other acts of  kindness. But mostly, it's the amazingly low price on Brown Cow Cream Top Yogurt.

I hope Health Haven stays funky through the awkward gentrification going on these days.

I want a hot fudge sundae please, and someone to help me eat it after spending the day wandering all over the Mission. I love the St. Francis, though I haven't been in a while, it pleases me to know they're keeping it real. Contextually, it's like a weird, icecream-and-candy-coated history lesson atop all the great and varied cultural stuff that is 24th street. The non-ice creamy foodstuff is actually decent, diner fare too. But I'm more apt to get some tacos and save the Fountain for dessert.

Hrrr now I'm realizing I forgot to eat dinner, whoops. :D hungrrrry!
