Lots of unique fruit wines (red currant, pear, peach, apple, cherry, and more), most made with fruit grown locally. Bottles range from $5.99 sale bottles of strawberry wine to about $12.99 for a tasty white wine called "Bad Axe Passion." You can taste any of the wines they sell.  I also bought some delicious strawberry jam ($7 for a pint).

We went to Mitchell's this last super-snowy Tuesday night. I think we lucked out in that the place was pretty empty at 7pm.  We went because of Birmingham Restaurant Week - lots of restaurants have specials for $25.  Our server was attentive and our food was really good. They have an interesting cocktail menu; I ended up ordering an "Elderflower" something, and it was really interesting.

While I didn't get the $25 dinner special, I ordered a prix fixe meal from their regular menu: steelhead with ceasar salad and creme brulee ($19.95).  The steelhead was described on the menu like this: "Steelhead are delicious..." I can't remember the rest, because I thought, "Well, if it's delicious..." - and it was!  The side salad was indeed small-sized, but I think that is OK, because I still had leftovers.  The creme brulee was rich and tasty, too.

We went to Pasquale's on New Year's Eve, and it was super busy.  The hostess told us it would be about 30 minutes until we'd be seated, but luckily we only really waited about 5 minutes for a table.  Our server was nice, but I think he was overwhelmed.  We waited a while to order, and we also waited some time for our food.

Our salads were pretty much just lettuce with dressing, but that ranch is fantastic!  I think the gnocchi is so tasty, and as I end up taking most of it home, so I get 1-3 meals out of it.

Go Comedy! Improv Theater

We went to the 8pm show on New Year's Eve, and it was wonderful.  I think I was a bit worried about sitting right in the front row, but it wasn't anything to worry about.  You fill out cards that the improv group will read through, and you can indicate if you would or wouldn't like to go onstage. It actually turns out that they pick some people to play for, so if "your" comedian wins, you get a prize.  No one in our party won, but they gave us some free tickets to a future show anyways, so that was really nice.

Our waitress was very attentive, and the theater itself was very clean and comfortable. At your table, they have pretzels, some fun-size candy, and some "go comedy" pins.   The bar in the lobby was very interesting, too, there were some plastic animal decorations mixed in with the bottles on display.  We had a great time!

We visited the PEG over Hollyberry Weekend (first weekend in November), and it was just lovely.  They had it decorated with lights and even the back windows looked out over a small lighted holiday display.  Our food was great!  And the portions were quite generous.

This is a cozy restaurant, it has nice waitstaff, and the food was tasty.  And although I like sushi, I also order miso soup and the ginger salad, and these seemed expensive compared to other sushi restaurants in the area. The sushi chefs were also accommodating regarding food allergies.

I love this pizza!  The crust is thin and chewy, and the Mediterranean pizza is topped with olives, tomatoes, and feta cheese.  I also tried the hard cider on my last visit, and it was very tasty, too.  I agree with the other reviews that service at times is a bit slow, but I really didn't mind all that much.  The bar itself is quite nicely decorated with interesting mosaic and metal works. Parking can be a bit tricky, as there are less than 10 spots (marked with signs) for parking here.

This was our second visit, and I thought the shepherd's pie was quite good.  Our salads were fresh, and they brought plenty of bread to our table. It did seem that we waited a bit to order, but all in all, it was a nice dinner. It seems like they have special events scheduled, too.  On the wall, they had a calendar saying a psychic and a handwriting analysis expert would be in on different nights.

Scenic and challenging course.  There are many steps to go up and down, and lots of landscaping.  The first few holes circle around a large pool with a fountain.  The course is situated directly next to a busy street (13 Mile Road) - but it really isn't too distracting.  A driving range lies behind the mini-golf course.  Many of the holes are challenging because of the terrain, as the green has lots of little hills, etc.  Some of the greens and borders are in need of repair; some paving stones are loose.

Beautiful landscaping!  The course is multi-level, and one hole features rocks that your ball hits as it rolls down the green towards the hole.  There are raised tee mats, rubber putters, and metal cups in the holes, but overall, the course is well-maintained and scenic.  Many holes feature rock obstacles of some sort and one even has your ball fall into a stream, and then it is tunneled out on a green below.
