October 23rd is the last day for this old Dominicks. Until then, the store is running a 50% off everything (that's left) sale, with the exception of dairy, deli and meat. All Dominick's card discounts are still honored. The new store is supposed to open in fall of 2010.

I was working an event at the Ritz and we had a short break. I only had time for a quick bite, so I thought I'd go to WTP and give Foodlife a try. I went for the pizza slice and decided on the Veggie. The slice was about $4 and was really pretty large and tasty, with lots of veggies on top (and not too much dough either). Service was quick and friendly.

I was working an event at the Ritz and needed a little "pick me up", so I ambled on over to Sacred Grounds in WTP. It took quite awhile to make my large non-fat cappuccino, but it was a good one. Full bodied and good taste! I'd recommend it.

I stopped here after a business meeting with a friend of mine. We sat outside, which was quite nice. Kansaku had a small area on there menu that had lunch portions and prices of some dinner items. I had the sashimi lunch, which was quite tasty, but didn't knock me out. Service was a little slow and there was hardly anyone there.
I'd come back to Kansaku, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

One of cats passed away 3 months ago. My wife and son were both ready to adopt another feline. After viewing the cats for adoption on the local websites (acs, paws, evanston animal shelter). I met my family at the ACS. The volunteers in the cat area were very pleasant and helpful. We decided on an older cat (5 yrs) as the older the cat is, the less of a chance they have to get adopted. We then filled out our application and went for our interview. The interview was more like a Saturday Night live skit. Our interviewer was so wrapped up in the world of cats, I think she forgot that she was a human.
She called up our vet and got some inaccurate information regarding the cat we have now. Rather than ask us about it, she came at us like we were lying and had to diffuse her.
Once we were done with the SNL member, it was all smooth going. We got our big cat home and he's doing well. Out adoption fee was $60 which gave us a bag of Science Diet food and a nice cat carrier.
Should we adopt again, I would once again consider adopting from ACS.

This HD location is laid out a bit differently than most. I was going for some home stuff and a water filter. Normally the water filters are right in one of the front aisles. At North Avenue, it's stuck all the way in the back and took awhile to find. Other than that, all was OK. The lady in the paint dept. was helpful and knew what she was doing. Checkout was easy.

I've been going to Dr. Moskin's practice for a couple of years, as has my wife and son. We all loved Dr. Thupvong. She was quite the bubbling personality and a really good dentist. Since Thupvong has left, I've been to see Dr. Chen a few times. I like her and I feel she has done a very good job with fillings and a crown. I think some may have mistaken her slightly nervous habits for incompetence. Believe me, this lady knows what she's doing and she does it well.
One note, I did have a root canal here and it was NOT a pleasant experience. I did not like the guy who does the root canals at all. He's a no personality chop shop kind of oral surgeon.

I stopped in Cosi this morning on my way to run a couple of errands. I tried a "create your own omelet sandwich" with mozzarella cheese and roasted red peppers on a croissant along with a cappuccino. The sandwich was tasty, the cap was good too and it was a bit less in price than Starbucks. Also, it's a nice touch that they bring your order to your table if you're dining in.
I'll be back to Cosi.

Was getting my car serviced nearby at the new Grossinger City location and decided to stop in here for some fixins for tonight's dinner. Corn on the cob was on sale for 10 for $1, and seedless watermelons for 89 cents. And these were just the deals outside of Stanley's. Inside, there are plenty more good deals and fresh veggies and fruits. As my wife has told me, be careful shopping at Stanley's. Many of the items are ripe and need to be used fast. Don't buy in too much bulk.
Stanley's also has a machine that knocks out fresh potato chips. I got a bag and boy, they were really fresh and really good!

What a difference new management makes. Robert Black is in the best condition it has been in for a very long time. The greens are good and actually have some speed to them. The fairways are a bit better and the sand is almost like real sand now, not like the concrete of old.
