This is one of *the* places to come in Ruidoso. The bar section is always pretty hoppin', filled with locals of all stripes and the various tourists that are in town for whatever reason. They get together for beers and cocktails, and for the buckets of peanuts that you can grab from a big bucket by the restrooms.
There's a juke box and pool tables which are separated from the main bar area by a window type partition.
There's a bunch of junk on the walls, similar to an Applebee's or some other large chain of pub type places. Farley's is not a chain, though, so it doesn't feel so contrived.
They serve food here, and have a dedicated restaurant area, although you can eat in the bar area. There's also an outdoor patio, which allows you to enjoy a nice summer breeze. Food's decent, with a mix of pizzas and other type of stuff you expect to see in an American joint.
This place is a hit with tourists. And by tourists, I mean Texans. Longhorns, Aggies, Horned Frogs, Mustangs, Red Raiders, they are all in here. If you don't know what I am talking about you don't know Texas football.

I love to come to this place for breakfasts. Word of warning: the portions are HUGE! Even though this restaurant is square in the heart of New Mexico the portions are what you might call "Texas Size."
Cuisine has a definite Tex/New Mex feel to it, with green chile offerings and things like chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy. There are also your more main stream fare items like pancakes and omelettes.
The interior space is much like, well, a log cabin. It's all open, with interesting local art work on the walls. Clean and spacious with high ceilings, it can get a little loud if there happens to be a noisy child in the room.
I had huevos racnheros, which were good if not a bit bland. Add a little salt and Cholula, and you're cooking with gas. I like that they give you option of red, green or tomatillo sauce.
Reasonably priced, and it is a family-run restaurant.

It's not so bad. Convenience is key.

The drinks are reasonably priced, and they have a nice happy hour special. There's a lot of space in the bar area, and they have a pool table on the other side. I like the layout of this place.
This is kind of a no-nonsense bar. It is divey, and being in the Mission, it will fill up with hipsters on weekends after 9PM. Expect lots of skinny pants and cigarettes outside.

They have a "special hot sauce" which is pretty good. Get it in the gyro, and pick up some extra, too, as the tzatziki sauce overpowers the internal stuff.

The location is spectacular. Right on the water, with a beautiful view of the bay. Other cities in the vicinity should take note, and develop their waterfronts to accommodate similar places. San Rafael could take a clue ...
Anyodd, I have to give the staff props for seating us outside with a great table, sans reservation. They were good about it, and the service throughout the meal was spot-on.
The food is all organic, and prepared quickly. The options weren't that plentiful, but truthfully, I like that. When did restaurants all adopt the notion that a book of a menu was to be the new standard? Three cheers for limited choice! We had scallops which were near perfect (hard to do), and some wonderful green curry. I was especially impressed that they had an organic beer on hand (Deschutes Green Lakes Ale) to go with the meal.

It gets a little busy in here, but that's lunch time anywhere in the FiDi, really. Another thing, your portions are a healthy-small but your price is San Francisco-size, if you catch my drift. Basically, your food is good, the portions are a good size for you, but the price is not kind to the ol' pocketbook.

Beyond that, though, the customer service here is outstanding, and it is a local affair. I like all of that.
If you are unclear on what you need, and you don't know where to find the things to complete a project, this will make your trip to Home Depot a little more arduous. Chiefly, this is because you can never find a sales associate anywhere. Home Depots, by and large, are, well, large. They are cavernous. And it seems all the folks with those orange aprons on know the nooks and crannys to crawl into to avoid customer eyes.
If you CAN find a sales associate, I'd say you have a 65-70% chance of them being helpful. Sometimes you get a good one and they not only have project insight, but they know where the items are. Other times you get someone who not only doesn't have a clue as to what you are talking about job-wise, and then, when prompted for directions to an aisle where you can locate necessary tools, mutters something about "4 lanes down," before promptly disappearing around the corner once you start off in that direction.

The restaurant/dining area is fairly quiet and family-friendly. The bar area is less so. Just so you know.
They've got TVs to watch the game on, and peanuts to munch on. It's a happy mix of sports bar, locals watering hole, Tex/Mex restaurant, and tourist trap.
