All my friends rave about their chicory coffee but as I am not a coffee drinker I just have the hot cocoa which goes great with the heavenly beignets. These are these puffy powdery delights that are made fresh all night.
I love the sassy servers and although its always crowded, the line does move quickly. There is usually some nice art for sale and live music close by. We love going in the evening to enjoy the ambiance while we recall our days activities.
If you do stop by and have the beignets, be ready to get powdered sugar all over yourself. It's everywere.. But I guess that's part of the experience.

I ordered the oat pancakes with raisins which were served warm, so I was content. Their banana pancakes are also very good and for you hearty eaters they have a mega waffe breakfast that give you three eggs, three sausage or bacon, hashbrowns and a huge waffle (about 4 slices).
Not the best place for breakfast but for the price this food was good. So if your looking for basics, I'd give Pollys a try for the price, you cant go wrong.
You have to cook your steak yourself on the grill which is part of the experience. They have a counter of various seasonings so you can choose your own style. The eating area has only about 10 tables but I believe you can eat on the bar side as well.
This place actually is known for its karaoke which they have about 5 times a week. There is mainly an older crowd there, but lately I have seen a mix of all ages.
Overall, this is not a fancy place, its got a vintage 70s interior but the steak is really good and its fun to cook it yourself and if your not into listening to karaoke get there early and leave by 8pm.
I love their potato cheese soup and their house salad. They usually give you garlic bread or a large succulent bisquit with your order. The mozarella sticks are huuuuge. The have a great baked potato stuffed with steamed vegetables and cheese. Yummy!!!
Try not to focus on the dessert glass because you will give in to their large desserts. We have tried a few and they have all been good but our favorite is the 7 layer chocolate motherload cake. WOW!
The chicken was very good and we ordered it family style so that was accompanied by some great spagetti and tortellinis (the call tortellinis, raviolis over there).
The portions were huge and for the price it was a steal - we made out like bandits. Love this place!!!
First of all the city of De Pue seems to have stopped in time, it is so small that they don't even have a bank - you have to drive to the next city over.
I know that most people will never make it out to the Giants Den but I felt I needed to post a review for them based on their breakfast and pies alone.
The food there is just like grandma's, mom's, aunties - whoever was that great cook in your family. The breakfast dishes were very simple but good. The pancakes where huge and simply melted in your mouth.
My goodness and their homemade pies were the best I've every tried, especially the cherry pie. They reminded me of those huge pies you see on an old episode of leave it to beaver or any other show/movie that had the huge pie cooling off in the window.
The food is fresh and they grill right behind the glass so you can see them prepare your food, it is very clean which I love.
It's a real small place with about 10 tables located in east l.a. I go there for there avocado salsa that is really good. I usually order the flautas/taquito plate which is really inexpensive an filling. Actually all plates are huge and you will leave there stuffed.
I do have to mention that the service has gone down over the years. You are lucky if you get a refill on any drink. We always have to wave someone down. If your willing to do that, then you should visit this place.

This is actually a walk in and order to go type of place. They specialize in carnitas, masa, tamales, mexican cooking supplies.
I know this food is a heart attack on a plate but I love love love their carnitas. I especially love their beef carnitas, yes beef. This is the only place I know that sells beef carnitas. They make their own home made corn tortillas which go hand in hand with the carnitas and to top that off, they have delicious guacamole!!!!
Well you can order by the pound or by the dozen to go or they do have a cooking counter where you can order burritos, tacos, etc. I usually order the beef carnitas tacos (about 2 bucks each) which they stuff with plenty of meat.
People also rave about their chicharrones, costillos, buche and tamales. I haven't got past the beef carnitas so I cannot comment on that stuff.
There is parking in the rear or on the street in front. They are closed on Wednesdays and unfortunately they close at 5:30. Well maybe thats a good thing because that stuff is way to heavy to eat late. You may get nightmares and see la llorona!!!!

The Aero Theatre is such a delight. I went there to see Tempest & An Unmarried Woman and Paul Mazursky was actually there in person to discuss the movies. I also went there to see Better of Dead and director Savage Steve Holland was there along with cast members.
The whole experience is just amazing to me as I am an avid movie goer and do appreciate the art of film .
I can't wait for the next showing.
