Do not come here if you're not the patient type. Upon our arrival we were quoted an hour and a half but we were seated after about 45 minutes. Then we had some beers to make up for lost time and then ordered. I had the Slayer and my friend had the Mayhem. By the by the burgers are all named after Metal Bands. We were told the burgers would be about 40 minutes so we also got the Mac and Cheese by design. We did not regret roasted red peppers and andouille sausage. What I do regret is that the Slayer is a patty on top of buns with chili poured over it. The chili also has andouille sausage. This was emasculating because it insured that I would be barely able to make a dent in the behemoth. I felt like a helpless child before the onslaught of food. I was a broken man.

Listen, not being from Chicago I'm not used to fried eggs being a staple of a burger. The concept is not alien to me but it seemed as though every place offered this. I love this. I love it with all my throbbing heart. Though my heart my beg to differ in the long run.
In any event the Kobe burger here is affordable and most importantly, delicious. Washing it down with a wonderful bloody mary made it all the better. I've never seen a bloody mary mixed with a little guinness but now I make it for myself the same way. The pastrami garnish may be a bit weird but often times greatness seems that way at first. I'm happy to see someone go for the gusto with a bloody mary. I only wish that I had the time and second stomach to try more items here.

Look, I'm not going to say that the Chowder is the best for my particular tastes but there is no denying that it was good. I prefer mine a little thicker but they did deliver on fresh chunks of clams. I also had oysters on the half. They gave me one of each type of oyster they had coming in from the world over. It was interesting to be able to take that tour and enlighten myself as to the type of oysters I like better. The education alone was helpful.

On the morning before the occasion of my brother's wedding we were hungry and this place fed us. Such a simple concept but imagine how satisfied we were that the food was good and not entirely expensive. We needed coffee and hearty foods to chase away the memories of hangovers. I can't help but be biased because this place met the challenges that we gave it.
Everything delivered on sating hunger and also lifting spirits. God bless us one and all.

Had the b3k schwarz bier and ploughmans platter. The beer was smooth as hell and delivered on taste. The Ploughmans platter included 3 types of sausage and some artisan bread. I'm calling it artisan because I'm not sure of the bread type but it was not of the white or wheat variety. This place was a life saver. I was on the Amtrak California Zephyre line from Emmeryville to Chicago and this was a much needed stopover.

Pearl's Deluxe Burgers

Because of the Pride festival the next day the street I had parked in was closed to parking. Unfortunately the signs were placed after I had parked there. My car among with maybe 15 others were towed. After a hour long ordeal at the police station and the impound yard to get my car back I was hungry and disappointingly sober. We ended up at Pearl for the hungry and the Owl Tree across the street for drinks. The Pearl provided the goods in the form of the Spicy Sly Burger. It was delicious and well ... thats enough. I suppose yelp already knows this so I'll take this opportunity to thank you, the yelp community for recommending this place to me and by proxy comforting me in a dark time. Then there was the drinks afterward.
After a very long day and an Angel game my friends and I had a need... a need for Ramen. Thanks to my trusty Yelp App we ended up here. We were sat fairly quickly and very satisfied with what we found. I don't remember what it was called but it was Ramen with spicy soy sauce based broth with Kimchee. To wash the ramen down we also had some of their Saki in the Aladdin bottles. I'm assuming the they're called Aladdin bottles due to their resemblance to the bottle of genie fame but maybe its the old style revolutionary in me that sees an excellent balanced molotov cocktail. In any event the Saki was good. The restaurant decor felt a little crowded but whimsical while still feeling old timey Japan. Don't believe anything I said? Well you'll have to just go in and see. So its a win win then.

Trying to go to big wangs for hot wings and to watch the lakers take game 5 was an all too popular idea. Less popular but oh so satisfying was going to this thai street cuisine establishment instead. The pad kee mao was good with the added red bell pepper for another delightful layer of flavor than Im use to. The wok stir fry dish was a joy as well. As an added bonus the restaurant was fairly sparse when we first arrived so we had our run of the place until it filled up a little. I hope it fills up slot as if would be a shame if this new place didn't make it. So come on in, the waters fine.
I had such dreams. I wanted a bloody Mary, some chile verde, and pozole. Now I see the folly. I went in on my lunch break and ordered the above with the substitution of albogondigas instead of pozole. To put it bluntly, everything was horrible. To be fair the soup wasn't horrible.
However, the bloody Mary lacked the texture and flavor of a good bloody Mary. This tasted more like watered down tomato juice w/ vodka. The chile verde seemed rushed. the pork was tough and didn't flake apart at all.
I must say that it totally ruined my afternoon.

I was drunk and hungry and I had the urge, no...the need for Ramen. I live in the ramen deprived town of bakersfield and well...when I get the chance sometimes I just down right crave it.
This place delivered the goods at the right bat time at the right bat inebriation.
Something about hot noodles help you sweat out previous sins that also prevent you from feeling too sanitary. You just feel like a human again.
