Cell Phone Repair is great! My 2+ year old iPhone 3GS needed a new battery. I dropped it off and a few hours later, it was done! The service was friendly and I would come here again for mobile phone issues.

There was a Yelp! checkin deal for 20% off accessories that they let me use towards my battery install! Awesome place! I was happy before they gave me the deal!

I do not have a dog, but I do have kids. We have had picnics, birthday parties, family time and more at Paul Moore Park. My Cub Scout pack had our annual picnic here and we had a great time!

For those who like to geocache, there are a couple here as well.

All-in-all, a good park with a clean bathroom (clean for a public park, that is). I recommend Paul Moore. :-)

CVS Pharmacy

This CVS is not the best modern day pharmacy you will go to, but these days all pharmacies are not much more than 7-Eleven on steroids.

I really like CVS on the East Coast (Boston Area to be specific). My local CVS is nothing spectacular, but not bad either. I liked it better when it was Longs. However, it is clean, has the normal food, and other trinkets that I have come to expect from a CVS.

As far as the Pharmacy goes, I have never had anything but a positive experience. The staff is friendly and never takes too long to fill my prescriptions. My one nit is that I bought a gallon of milk that had gone sour. The date was well within the range, but it had obviously been left out too long before being put in the cooler. I have seen dairy items left outside the cooler one other trips with no stock person anywhere near.

I love Sierra Nevada and 12-pack is on sale her for $11.99 quite often! Normally $16.99 at Safeway or BevMo. Yee-haa!

Lunardi's Markets

Lunardi's gets a bad rap for being a high priced, pretentious grocery mart. This reputation is somewhat deserved. Many items are pricier than at Safeway or Lucky's. However, I have found items that were CHEAPER at Lunardi's. Oh, believe me, I was just as shocked as you are reading this! Now, I won't get all crazy and say Lunardi's is now my place to shop, I will still pay an arm an a leg for general groceries. Unless you have extra disposable income, you need to pick and choose at Lunardi's.

Why do I go there?

- The produce is outstanding. Selection is good and the quality is normally excellent! If Lunardi's wasn't an extra stop, I would not buy green beans at any other store.

- The Meat/Poultry/Seafood section is amazing. WOW! The selection is huge, the food is fresh and hearty, but you can pay a premium here. I don't buy my everyday meats here, but when I have guests or it is a special occasion I go to Lunardi's!

- My family has Turkey on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. Screw ham! If you have ever gotten one of the fresh Diestel Family Ranch Turkeys, you know the method to my madness. If you haven't, get a Diestel Turkey form Lunardi's and you will never go back to the likes of Butterball again.

- The deli is good, but I mainly go there for the Lunardi's Roast Beef. Fresh and wonderful. I haven't found sandwich roast beef that I like better (or even as much).

You can also find other items not at Lucky's or Safeway. They have really good Kaiser rolls, for instance and a decent selection of wine. Walk the isles and you are likely to find other exotic or hard to find gems as well.

Lunardi's is worth a stop for me, but I would never do my entire week's shopping there.

Branham Hills Little League-Major Field Snack Shop

Branham Hills Little League is one of the finest Little League organizations in the area. As far as the main complex at Ross Ave. goes, there are really no better Little League fields around.

BHLL supports all levels of play from 4-year old T-Ball to the 13+ Junior Levels.

The parents, managers, coaches and board members are wonderful people. Is everyone an angel, of course not, no place has that. I would not keep signing my two boys up for BHLL, if it wasn't great. I have been involved as a manager, coach and parent in this league for 6 years. I far prefer this over Pony and other leagues.

BHLL is top notch. :-)

Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery

I love the Campbell Rockbottom. IT has become my place more than The Brit. To be fair, I am a sucker for beer clubs and the Rockbottom Mug Club reeled me in. Are you listening Britannia Arms? ;-)

I am a Pale Ale and IPA guy. Sierra Nevada and Harpoon Ale (East Coast) are my beers. Rockbottom has a good Pale Ale and my absolute favorite IPA. Sadly, they change the IPA recipe a few times a year, so my fav is not always there.

I have never been here for dinner, so my food experience has been with lunch type food and snacks.

Wednesday is the day to go. $5 Pizza and appetizers and beer is cheaper.

The burger is good. The pizza is okay, but at $5 it is good enough. The hand made chips are wonderful. The Brewer's Club Sandwich is good. They have GREAT chili!

I LOVED the edamame appetizer, but they recently took it off of the menu.

The deal of the century is the $5 nachos on Wednesday. It is a MASSIVE helping that two people could gorge themselves on.

My favorite, is the seared Ahi. I pair it with a cup of chili and the IPA... heaven!

Final huge plus... they offer growlers to take beer home in. $10 for a new one. $8 for a refill and $5 refill on Wednesdays. For those not in the know, a growler is 64oz. (a half gallon) bottle, which is slightly smaller than a 6-pack (it is equal to 5.3 12oz beers).

Become a Mug Club member. The rewards are good.

SmokeEaters

Category: Chicken Wings

3.0 star rating

I have been coming here for almost 20 years.

I was a much bigger fan of this place when it was Cluck You. Even in its University Chicken days, it was better. I have been to the current SmokeEaters a few times. I do enjoy it, but it is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The chicken isn't as crisp and the sauce is not quite the same.

If you had never been to its previous incarnations, you will probably love it. I am not saying it is a bad place, I just can't help comparing it to its glory days. The chicken and sauce are still tasty.

A tip: If you have not eaten here before, the portion sizes are MUCH bigger than you may expect. The sauce is also filling. These are both good things. :-)

I would also avoid the fries with sauce (unless you are truly in love with the sauce). There is just too much on it and the fries get soggy fast.

At the end of the day, SmokeEaters is worth eating at, especially before a Sharks game. Are they still the best wings around? Hmmmm, I don't think so.

Trader Joe's

4.0 star rating

Trader Joe's is a good place to shop. Although, it is also very much like Whole Foods, a status symbol/show off place to shop. Most Trader Joe's regulars have an air of superiority for shopping there. Save it, will ya...

Anyway, that does not take away from the fact it is a quality establishment. The marinated Ahi Tuna Steaks and marinated Mahi-Mahi is the best I have found in a frozen food section anywhere. I am also a fan of some of the frozen veggies that you can't get other places, like Soycutash (soybeans, corn, red bell peppers and such). The Trader Joe's Edamame is also way better than I have gotten in other grocery stores. I won't buy it anywhere else.

My family also loves the Trader Joe's cinnamon chips and sea salt bagel chips.

Folks rave about the prices, but on many items, they are much worse than other stores. On the items I go there for, the prices are very good, so you'll need to look for the deals, don't just assume you are getting a good price.

The checkout stands are not meant for heavy duty shopping trips. I also find the selection too limited in a few areas. These two items rule Trader Joe's out as a possible one stop grocery shopping spot for me. It is well worth my trip, every few weeks.

Red Lobster

4.0 star rating
12/1/2010 62 Check-ins Here
Yes, it is an over-hyped chain. Yes, it smacks of wannabe's and bad jokes. Yes, it is over priced. Yes, I still love it so!!!

There are not a lot of good seafood places around that are affordable and kid friendly. Yes, I called it over priced and affordable within two sentences of each other. You can find good deals, if you time it right. Seafood is not something you go out to weekly, unless you are in a nice tax bracket. Red Lobster is the guilty pleasure of seafood places! You go there a couple times a year and have fun!

The bar is decent. You can get a really good deal on crab if you hit them during their bottomless crab specials. That is when I mainly go. For my money, you can't beat good Snow Crab. It blows King Crab away for price and taste (if it is good quality). Don't get me wrong, King Crab is great, I am a fan.

Let's talk Cheddar Bay Biscuits... Just slightly less addicting than the orange crack sauce they serve at La Victoria's. Warning, after the third or fourth one, you will feel like you have rocks in your stomach. Very thick and filling.

The Ultimate Feast is worth the price. Good stuff! I have a good friend that asked if he could get it with a side steak! The waiter looked aghast and said, "Ahh, yeah, sure but we have never had anyone ask for that before..." LOL!!!

They also have an endless shrimp deal from time-to-time. Well worth the trip.

The yearly Lobsterfest is also good. Prices and portions are what you would expect for lobster, but good meal and deal combos can be found.

Don't let the cheesy jokes and snickering keep you away. If you are looking for "flare and delicacy" in their cuisine, you won't find it here, but you knew that going in. Otherwise, it is a fun place for the family, especially if you like seafood and your kids do not.

Scramblz

3.0 star rating
12/1/2010 13 Check-ins Here
Scramblz is far from the best breakfast place in town, but it is good for an occasional visit. I like the menu selection and the sides you can choose from are many and varied. The decor reminds me of an episode of hoarders. It is a bit eclectic crazy, but has no effect on the food and there certainly is a lot to look at.

They transformed the shell of a VW Bus (I think) into a table area. The kids love it, but you will need to reserve the table. It is in high demand.

Personally, I judge all breakfast places by three things:

1. Menu selection
2. The Bacon
3. The French Toast

- As I said, I like the selection. +
- The bacon was okay, nothing special. +/-
- The French toast was also just okay. +/-

I was not a fan of the omelets. Both my dad and I have ordered them and they are really nothing more than large egg scrambles, not omelets. Fitting, since you are at Scramblz, but not what you want when you order an omelet.

I don't care for their selection of chicken apple sausage. It is a bit bland and rubbery.

The portions were medium to large, so not bad.

All-in-all, it was okay. Not good enough to rave about but not bad enough to pan. It is worth a try and I would go back. On the way out, you will talk more about the decor than the food.

In the San Jose area, your best breakfast place, hands down, is Stacks in Campbell. I would likely choose Scramblz over Denny's or IHop. Back in the day The Original House of Pancakes was top notch, but I haven't been there in years.
