I can't say enough good things about this place. The dude who runs it is just a genuinely nice, awesome person. And the food is really, really good. Try the Fresh Mozzarella sandwich.

Scooters Cheaper

I brought my scooter in for an hour or so of repairs on a Tuesday morning. They said it would be a couple days. The literal definition of a 'couple' is two, but I assumed it might be two or three. They said they'd call when it was ready.

On Saturday I still hadn't heard from them, even though the deadline they'd originally given me had long past. I called to find out the status of my scooter and they said it would be ready Monday. I asked when on Monday? They said the afternoon.

On Monday at 5:00pm, I still hadn't heard from them, so I called up and asked the status of my scooter. They said they'd call me when it's ready. I said it's almost the end of the day. They said they had two more hours until they close.

At 7:00pm, I still hadn't received a call and now they're closed for the night.

In addition to being rude, they are also, apparently, incompetent. I'll be picking up my scooter first thing in the morning and taking it somewhere else.

Schwa

It was pretty difficult to get a reservation, but well worth the effort. It was easily the best meal of my life. I don't know what the people who write the negative reviews are talking about. The music was not too loud and the chefs were perfectly nice. I suspect that some people come to Schwa expecting something like Tru. If you want a stuffy, quiet, overpriced meal then don't go. But if you want an edgy, fun, pricey (but worth it) meal, then start trying to get a reservation right now.

Tataki

It's a really small place, so if you're going for dinner, get there early if you don't want to wait a litte while. They don't take reservations, but there's a list outside you can put your name on, so we were able to go next door to get a drink while we waited.

The service was phenomenal. That was kind of something we noticed all over San Francisco; everyone was just really nice, but it seemed especially so at Tataki.

We were really hungry so we tried a lot of different things. Pretty much everything we had was amazing, but the Extinguisher and Double-double were some of the best specialty sushi we've ever had.

House of Nanking

I'm not a huge fan of Chinese, but this was definitely worth it. We asked several people where to eat in Chinatown and all of them said House of Nanking. There was a line when we got there, and it took us about 30-45 minutes to get through it, but we noticed after we sat down that there was no longer a line, so I guess it just depends what time you get there. The service was very quick, maybe even a bit rushed, but overall very good. If you don't know what to order, try the Nanking Tofu (or whatever protein you prefer).

Sable Kitchen & Bar

This place is pretty cool. The decor has a kind of Steampunk/mad scientist thing going on with all the oddly-shaped blown gas, which I really like.

The drinks are great; typical high-end mixology. If you like the Violet Hour and places like that, you'll love the drinks here. In fact, word on the street is that they swiped several of the mixologists directly from the Violet Hour.

The food is pretty good, and as a bonus it's vegetarian friendly. The must-have dish is probably the lentil cake.

The service wasn't bad, but could be better. Our waitress didn't seem particularly well-informed, but to be fair it was the first night it was open. I'm sure next time I go the service will be top-notch.

The only downside is the inexplicable, hideous, digital faux-fireplace they installed in the middle of the bar/restaurant. That thing really needs to go.

This place is pretty cool. I've only ever gone on the weekdays, but it's never been crowded. The food is pretty tasty and the drinks are cheap. Plus, if you're a gin fan, they have Hendrick's!

I'd been meaning to come to Between for a while now. I'd walked by it hundreds of times, and received a lot of recommendations, and it did not disappoint. The ambiance in there is really awesome. It's very well-decorated. The drinks are pretty good; some are better than others. The food is excellent! The staff are really, really nice. I'm not sure what it's like Mon-Thurs, I imagine it's pretty chill. I went twice this weekend and it was definitely more on the club side. Which musically was fine; the DJ was good; but it definitely attracts some of the douchebag contingent. But overall, a really cool place.

Las Palmas

I have walked by Las Palmas literally hundreds and hundreds of times. I love Mexican food, so I'm not sure why I never thought to eat here until tonight.  Maybe because it's hard to see inside and the sign is somewhat less than impressive. The only reason we went is because the original place we planned on eating (Lucia's) was closed on Sundays, so we thought what the heck, let's try Las Palmas. And now I'm kicking myself for not eating there sooner. If you're looking for a nicer burrito or something typical this is not the place, but if you're looking for some exotic food and some killer margaritas, this is the spot. It's definitely a little expensive, but you get what you pay for; the food was fantastic!

DJ's Scuba Locker

I just finished the second part of my Open Water Dive Training with DJ Scuba, and it was fantastic.

I met both of the owners; one when I was getting fitted, and the other when I was picking up my gear, and they were both extremely nice and helpful. They went over the gear with me and made sure it fit properly, and it was all in pretty good condition.

My instructor's name was Jeff. He was very nice and even let me dive even though the first day I came two hours late because my alarm clock died. I had already come to terms with how screwed I was and didn't expect to be able to get certified before I left on my trip, but when I called the dive shop to see if there was any way I could still dive, they called Jeff to let him know I was coming late and he fit me in before his next group!

My only gripe is that they're a little far out of the way (I live in Chicago), but I took Ogden straight there and it wasn't too bad, maybe 25 minutes each way.
