I love, Love, LOVE Il Postino!!!

Not only is it a 2 minute walk from my house, but it is the tastiest menu in the neighborhood. The servers are knowledgeable and friendly, the bar is huge, the wine list is perfect for any budget and taste, and the ambiance is comfortable and fun (and pretentious-hipster free).

The Insalata d' Anatra is a must, and I've never been disappointed in the gnocchi of the day. YUM! I would eat here every week if I could.

Update - 4/13/2010
I've been going to Boulevard for about a year now and I'm still blown away every time time I go. I brought my car in last week after it started making an atrocious sound, and after having having 2 of their technicians look it over from top to bottom, they were able to tell me exactly what needed to be done, what should be done but could wait, and what will need to be done in the future. I love that they break down exactly what the problems are - I always feel confident that they are being 100% honest with me and I know they wouldn't let me leave the shop in an unsafe car. They work with my budget to make sure we get the most important things done right away and they've done a great job THE FIRST TIME every time I've brought my car in. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else!

Bonus - they send me lots of coupons, and they give a Yelp discount :-)

Can I just say, as a 26 year old blonde female, I HATE going to the mechanic. I dread it. I don't know anything about cars, and in the past I have always been scared of getting ripped off or getting shady service.

But then I discovered Boulevard... and I will never take my car anywhere else! They take the time to explain exactly what the problems are, they warn me about the things that may need to be fixed in the future, they find the best prices, and they are SO NICE!!! The absolute best customer service I have ever received. I have brought my sister and my roommate and they agree with me, Boulevard is the best! These guys stand behind their work and do the job right the first time. Ladies (and gents), don't waste your time anywhere else, these are the guys for the job.

Bell In Hand Tavern

I'm truly shocked at all the negative reviews for this place! Sure, I went as a tourist, but we had a BLAST! There was a great live band playing upstairs, and downstairs there was karaoke, dancing, another live musician playing in a corner and a huge area with seating and tables. I made all kinds of new friends, from Guidos (eesh!) to doctors to bouncers (part of the fun of being a tourist I suppose). I loved that there were so many different rooms that all had a different vibe, we had a great time.

Plus... it's the oldest tavern in America. I drank to honor my countrymen.

I am completely enamored with Juliette. Everything about this place is perfect, from the staff to the ambiance to the amazing, AMAZING food. As a California girl, I am drawn to places that offers outside seating, and Juliette has a large rooftop terrace that is perfect for a warm NY summer evening. It's romantic and cozy, with soft white lights, antiqued decorations and pretty garden plants scattered around.

Our server - Brittawnee - was amazing. She recommended the homemade gnocchi which was perfection, I ate the entire plate and am still craving more 4 weeks later. My table also ordered the foccacia chicken sandwich, pan roasted salmon and the cheese plate, which were all completely finished by the time we left. The wine list is of course impressive, and with a fairly wide price range there is something for everyone.

I love Williamsburg, and I love Juliette! I can't wait to go back to this lovely neighborhood and enjoy it once again.

I like this place, I really do, but it is EXPENSIVE! I have no problem forking over extra money for tasty, amazing food, but I really wasn't all that impressed with my meal. The sausage was good but definitely not great, the coleslaw and potato salad were bland, there was one little slice of cheese on my plate (random) and a piece of plain, toasted bread. Yawn.

Also, I find it kind of strange that they have a "no tip policy," but instead add 18% to your bill no matter how many people are in your party. The result: servers are getting tips no matter what, so you have a different server every 5 minutes (once someone FINALLY comes to your table) and the service that you do get is just not that great.

However, the decor is really fun, the sangria was DELICIOUS and our dessert was amazing! Peach and Strawberry Shortcake with fresh whipped cream and lots of fruit, mmmmm! I will have no problem going back for dessert and drinks, but next time I'll be sitting at the bar and skipping the whole bad service, sausage-platter fiasco.

One word: SANGRIA!!!

We were here on a hot, humid San Fran day, and the sangria was so refreshing and tasty, with lots and lots of fruit. We ordered a large pitcher between the 2 of us and savored every drop. We arrived at the restaurant about 25 minutes before the kitchen opened, which was perfect. We snagged a great table right before the huge crowd arrived (they were on an hour and a half wait when we left) and we sipped our drinks until it was time to order out tapas.

And on to the food...

AMAZING!!! We shared the Chicken Paillard, Cajun Shrimp and Fried Platanos Maduros. I never thought I could like fried bananas but these were to die for, they were perfectly sweet and served with sour cream and a pureed black bean dip. The shrimp and chicken dishes were delicious as well, both in a spicy, creamy sauce that we used as a dip for the fresh bread they served us.

The decorations in the restaurant were bright and kitschy, the Calypso style music was festive and fun, and on a hot day like the one we had it almost felt like we were sitting at a local kitchen in the Caribbean. I don't live in the area so I have to wait until my next trip up north to experience this fantastic place again, but I will definitely go out of my way to return.

5 stars Cha Cha Cha!!!

Mosaic Wine Bar

Mmmmm this place is wonderful! Great selection of wine with ALL price ranges, which is great. We got a bottle of the Tobin James Zin and it was just as tasty as I remember from when I visited the winery. Our server kept our glasses full and the food was simple and good. We had an asparagus and goat cheese flat bread pizza, dolmas, hummus and Baba Ghanoush. The only thing I wouldn't have again was the Baba Ghanoush, it was kind of boring.

The ambiance is lovely, with a big open area in front that allows for great people watching, a long, sleek bar-top for tastings and a lounge area behind the bar that's a bit quieter. It's posh and chill, great spot for an after-work drink. I can't wait to go back for Sunday Brunch, they have $1 mimosas and frittatas that sound oh-so-yummy with every ingredient imaginable. Yes please!

As an avid late-night swimmer, I have dipped my toes in the water of several beaches up and down the California Coast over the last few years. These late night swims are usually partially to fully alcohol-induced, and involve minimal clothing and lots of laughter. Out of all the beaches I have played around at, Pacific Beach in San Diego has provided the most entertainment to myself and my partners in crime. The water is warm at 3 in the morning, the beach is wide enough that people on the sidewalk cannot easily see what shenanigans are going on in the sea, and you don't get a bunch of nasty seaweed wrapped around your feet while you're frolicking. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spice up the after-bar nightlife, or to anyone that feels hot at any given moment.

Cheers!

SIDE NOTE: I would recommend the removal of all jewelry before partaking in such moonlit frolicking adventures, as the ocean is a greedy beast.

Love it! Their sign out front says it all: "Cold Beer and Warm Friends"...really, what more do you need? Cheap drinks, dark bar, GREAT music, lots and lots of beer on tap, and cool people. Done and done. I wish I could walk to this bar, I would be there every night.

This bar is pretty damn fun. I'm not a hard-core beer drinker, but I tried 4 different brews and loved each one. Belgian White = super tasty. The crowd was fun and eclectic, I chatted with two "blokes" from London, a wine-broker from NYC, a po-dunk cowboy and some hipster chicks. Love it. The food looked really good, I didn't try anything (liquid diet) but the British guys got sausage sandwiches with potatoes (bangers and mash???) and loved them. How could you not have a great time here on a Monday night with $3 beers?

Oh, and great selection in the jukebox! Love that!
