Here's what we ate:
- short ribs
- mac 'n cheese
- Mahi Mahi
- fries with Parmesan and truffle oil
- Creme brulee
accompanied by a bottle of sparkling wine ('cause we were celebrating)
Makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Anchor Steam Brewing Company
Category: American (Traditional)
Although the prices weren't the most reasonable here (I mean, seriously, $16.99 for fish & chips?), it sure did beat Chili's or Burger King.
And if you go for the 23 oz beer (vs the 16 oz), it's only $1 extra. Sold!
The Chieftain has a pretty amazing buffalo chicken wrap that satisfied my craving for something buffalo. Combined with an Anchor Steam and it was almost as good as being home again. Almost.
Happy hour from 4-6 includes discounted beers... but not sure if a $3 PBR is a deal. Maybe it is in these parts, but not in my 'hood. But who would want a PBR in an Irish pub anyway?

Strawberry preserves and orange marmalade wrapped up in a nice little crepe. Yum! That and a side of bacon and I'm in a tiny food coma.
We unfortunately sat by some really loud ladies who insisted on reading the Olympics edition of Parade Magazine out-lout. It's not that I don't care about the athletes to watch, but did she have to yell?
Either way, the food at Honey Honey was delicious. Next time I'll sit in a quiet corner :)

Dottie's True Blue Cafe
Categories: American (Traditional), Diners, Breakfast & Brunch
Neighborhood: Civic Center/Tenderloin
Get here before 10 am and you'll only have to wait maybe 30-45 minutes. The line moves pretty fast and the neighborhood characters will provide some entertainment. This morning, we watched a 6'4" "woman" and her "companion" limp around the block, screaming for someone at one of the surrounding dirt bag motels to wake up. People watching at its best...
But back to Dottie's. Once seated, be prepared to make a tough choice off of a fab menu. Buckwheat blueberry pancakes with pure maple syrup or a avocado goat cheese frittata with a side of hash browns? Oh, the decisions! No matter what you choose, definitely wash it down with a glass of fresh squeezed OJ.
Dottie's is a gem! If I lived in SF, I would wait in line every Saturday morning just to eat my way through the menu, one meal at a time.
Although my boyfriend has since traded in the giant van for a hybrid, we still joke about that night. Kozy Kar brought back memories of that first date. It's so fun and unexpected, just like that first night together.

Pazzia Restaurant & Pizzeria

Our waitress was less-than-friendly and we had to ask her to tell us about the specials.
The pizza itself was good. Ingredients were fresh (really tasty pepperoni) and I like the crispy crust on the pizza. And one regular pizza will definitely feed two hungry people.
I just didn't care for the way we were treated by the staff. There was another customer across the room who was also a tad frustrated, as the hostess kept propping the front door open and he kept shutting it. It was entertaining to watch, but probably not for him.

Zuni Cafe

Drinks: champagne and wine
Appetizer: Blood orange and avocado salad
Main course: roasted chicken and stead medium rare. With a side of shoestring potatoes and parsnip puree.
NO way to describe this in words, other than it was a fantastic meal.
But don't take my word for it!

How could I only give Tart To Tart three stars? What was I thinking? They are one of the few cafes/restaurants in the downtown district that's open on Sundays! And they have an amazing tuna sandwich that hits the spot after a long day...

Looking for a mid-week hangover cure? Try the breakfast empanada at Tart To Tart! A nice pocket of handmade dough filled with sausage, onion and peppers. Mmmm...
Tart To Tart also offers a variety of cakes, cookies, bagels and doughnuts. Forget that it's your turn to get a co-workers birthday cake? Not to worry. This place sells entire cakes AND candles!
The nice thing about this Tart To Tart location is that there aren't a TON of breakfast options in that area. So this is a cute, affordable little alternative to XYZ in the a.m.

Besides the regular oil changes, auto emissions tests and 10-20,000 mile check ups, I don't know squat about how a car runs, where fluid comes from, or even the basics to putting air in the tires. Sad, but true.
So when one of my headlights goes out, I usually head over to Autozone and get some help from an employee there. Not only do they help you pick out the parts you need, but if you ask really nice, one of the staff members will do the work for you. And they usually are pretty nice about it.
Not this time... I was greeted by a very not-nice young lady who made me feel like an idiot because I didn't know the difference between high beam and low beam lights. And she definitely didn't offer to help me install the headlight... and I wasn't going to ask! Sheesh, some people...
Yes, I should probably know the difference between the two and yes, I should probably know how to do this on my own. But I think all of us have to deal with dumb people in our daily lives and have learned to be nice despite the other person's stupidity, right? It's called "customer service". Sheesh!
