The ambiance is spectacular, the best I've experienced in Chicago. The decor was just super cool with great views of downtown. The bartenders are douchebags. I had two different male bartenders at the far north outside bar, both with brown hair, both with facial scruf and both with fucking attitude problems. The bartenders could at least stop their side conversations with each other for one minute while I'm trying to order, pay, and tip but no, they just talked right through it and didn't even show a sign gratitude or friendliness. Keep in mind there was no one at the bar while this was happening, then one person walked up afterwards.

The bar was completely empty except for one bartender making a drink for another customer after me. I forgot water for the wife and walked down to where the other was gossiping (instead of 'tending the bar'), after trying to get his attention and asked for a bottle of water. He walked away after nodding to me still talking to the waitresses and telling some guy that he was one of them now, must be a new hire or something. I walked 5 feet away back to my wife(which was the only person sitting at the bar) and I realized after 5+ minutes I had no water. I looked behind me and 5 feet away the bartender was still talking and the bottle was sitting on the bar in front of him. I got up and walked down to get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not lazy but I'm pretty sure that's his fucking job to bring the drinks to me.

Applebee's has better and more friendly bartenders. Maybe you should send them there to train.

The place gets the 3 stars for coolness but there's a hundred other places where I'll feel welcome and be taken care of when I'm there.

I ordered Sesame Chicken and half way through eating it I bit into a pig's toe nail. I shouldn't have to say anymore. It was a chicken dish for god's sake!! I am disgusted with this establishment and off Asian foods for awhile. I called Chicago's Health Department and emailed them twice but they haven't called back. I tried to keep the dish to show them the nail but it was getting rancid.

Never again!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!

Cheesey disco music and overworked staff. The manager had to eventually take care of us. They didn't bring the wine we ordered but it came eventually. The wine list was a mess and could use more attention to detail to make is swankier.

The list was impressive though and so was the ambiance but the volume was deafening. I'd go back but I'd walk right out if they were blaring disco again.

Tasty food, fun table in the back, and nice wine. Our server was pushing more expensive wines than what we asked but wasn't a bitch when we got something around $50. She was very nice regardless of our inexpensive choice.

The bartender upstairs made a shitty manhattan. It's kind of hard to screw up that drink but overall the night was wonderful. I'd go back in a second.

Gorgeous bar with a beautiful ceiling and ambiance. The seats were comfy and the service was perfect. Sara was a gem that guided us through most of the wine list and cocktail list. We grilled her on the 1900 vintage wine and places to eat in Tribeca and surrounding neighborhoods. She was very helpful.

The fries were a sinful delight. We'll definitely return to Gilt on our next trip to NYC.

This place blew. We went there at lunch and were seated in the basement where they seemed to put all the ppl with children. Our server was absent most of the time and our drinks, two lilet's took 15 minutes. The food was terrible. My cuban sandwich was a fried block of bread and the salads were a cold damp mess.

I'm not sure why I'm giving this two stars, maybe because it looked nice from the outside. If you're in NYC, go somewhere else for lunch.

We just got into the city from traveling and stopped by Rosie O'grady's because it was accross the street from our hotel, Novotel. We were seated rigth away but then our server never showed. We were waited on by the maitre'd and Paul the manager. He gave our kid ice cream and made the visit enjoyable. The server showed up at the end, I didn't want to tip him but I did.

The fish and chips was good and the oysters were ok. I'd go back.

The food was fantastic! The summer sizzle menu is just right for a nice outside dinner before the sun goes down.

The server SUCKED!! The server neglected to tell us about their Summer Sizzle menu which was prefixed for $20. One of us already knew of it and had to ask for it. We felt as if we were troubling him for the menu.  I'm sure he's just another cookie cutter waiter trying to rip off their customers to get a bigger check thinking they're going to get a bigger tip. IF that works, go for it, but it's the kind of service that makes this industry look bad. The server also pretty much disappeared the entire night. We were waited on by busboys and the manager after a table next to us complained.

Assholes like that need to move on.

I'd love to give this dump (I mean that in a good way) a 5 star rating but the bouncers at the Supersuckers show were just lame and all over the place. The show barely had a pulse and to add to that it seemed like I was in a prison yard with these bouncers as guards. I also watched them throw someone out for being to rowdy at a Supersuckers show, are you kidding me? I watched the whole thing, this guy was stirring up the place (a bit annoying but expected) and he was punched in the face by some chick. Then, the bouncers throw him out? Sloppy. I'll go elsewhere to see my shows. I don't want to be the guy who gets punched then thrown out by some meathead bouncers.

If ppl want to bounce their heads like it's a moody blues concert then they should get the f&^k out of the way and let others enjoy the Greatest Rock Band Ever!!

Supersuckers Rock!!

Opera

Opera was a place I frequented several times in 2007 and a few times in 2008. I just recently went back and the place is falling under par. Our server was the only thing that kept our spirits high (Andrea). She was very kind and attentive to our needs.

The food was not good. I don't know what happened over time but the ribs were dry, the pineapple dessert was dry and nasty, prices went up, and some of the main dishes were horrible. It was the equivalent to a normal asian restaurant just triple in price. Not everything was bad it was just not to the expectations of a nice restaurant nor $28 per meal.

The bartender and his drinks were horrible. His attitude sucked and was not even close to inviting ,and the drinks were just bad. We had a Lychee martini and it was sour with a cherry in the bottom? Why not a Lychee? We thought they just didn't have one until I saw one on my Creme Brulee'. It's the little details like this that justify charging me $12 for that sour drink. It also sets the tone for the rest of the evening. Applebee's could of done better.

I'm not sure what happened Opera but you need to fix it before you end up empty on a Sunday night (the night of your three items for $29)
