It's pretty authentic Chinese food (including its service level) at a decent price point outside of Chinatown in Manhattan. The roast duck is not the best (not very meaty) but is relatively tasty.

The Original Soupman

I really am disappointed with all the soups there. Regardless of its reputation, the soup is just plain NOT good! It's just filled with stuff, and so that makes it filling, and perhaps tries to justify its exhorbitant price tag for what amounts to a bowl of soup.

I have given it several tries to see if it's the flavor that I just haven't had luck with, but every time it's just nothing I want to really drink/eat...I have even felt like I had to force myself to finish my soup, just because it's so expensive. Every one of my friends who have tried the soups also also confirm the same sentiment.

The food here is consistently good. They always infuse something in their butter (e.g. orange peel, strawberry, etc.) that comes with the bread basket, which is quite neat.

They have really good wings. They have 3 flavors, and I like the teriyaki one best. During the summer, they have a tasty and refreshing lobster roll.

The food here is good, but you have to order quite a few dishes (not just 1 per person) to have enough to eat. This can add up rather quickly in terms of what you end up spending when you dine there.

The ambiance is very nice, and it has a comfortable decor. I would dine there more often if it was more value for money. But the food was not fantastic enough to justify the cost, I think.

La Isla Restaurant

The food here is good, but is quite pricey. All things considered, it's really rice and beans, and a leg of chicken, for example...but their price point is more than I would have expected. I would have been a fan of this place if the price point is more in line with my perception of how basic the food served really is, and if the service was better.

The place is really small, so it is usually full. Recently, they managed to get some outside space, which increases their space by a third during the summer time.

I find the service here to be surly at times. I have stood at the counter waiting for someone to give me eye contact for about 10 minutes so I could order a takeout. I left when no one bothered to help me even when I started to take out cash in my hand (like at a bar!). I get the distinctive feeling that people who can speak Spanish to the staff there get a table faster and get way better service (I see the staff actually smiling and eagerly running to wait on them).

The burgers here are good, but smaller compared to Jackson Hole. They seem less greasy, but are still juicy and tasty. I little bit of a lighter fare, as far as burgers go, at least!

The burgers here are large, juicy, and good. Lots of options and different types of burgers. The decor is not great, which is a shame. The service is fast. I would venture to say that the burger here is the best, but my husband claims that the best burger he has ever eaten at a restaurant is at the 4 L's Restaurant in Hoboken, NJ -- I've not tried it yet, so I don't know. But he loves burgers, so I would say that he's quite the expert. All in, the burgers here are definitely in the top 3 of the places I've eaten.

I like the food here, but can't claim to be an expert in Korean food. I like the different little appetizer dishes, and the Korean BBQ here. The service can some times be a bit slow, but the lunch specials are a great value for money. I have been here more than a dozen times and the quality is consistent.

This is the best Italian water ice I have ever eaten, and I've eaten just about every one I lay my eyes on! It actually have chunks of fruit in it.

Years ago, it seems they slightly changed the recipe and maybe cut some corners by scaling back the fruit chunks. I was so upset I stopped going. But it looks like they went back to their original recipe and there are plenty of fruit chunks in their ices. Plus, now they have new things like wafers and other things they put in their custard. My husband likes the misto shake. I like their gelato and ices combo.

Cold Stone Creamery

The ice-cream is not a soft-serve but is very soft. Because they mix in the various things you put in your ice-cream (e.g. graham cracker crumbs, fruits, crushed candy, caramel, whipped cream, etc.) on a refrigerated slab, it takes time. Some times, the person doesn't mix it very well, and all the stuff is concentrated in one area and gets way too sweet.

The wait can be long even if you have only 2 people in front of you. I totally skip this place when I see 4 people standing in line - the wait is far too long, especially when there's a Rita's Italian Water Ice across the street (also yum!), Ben & Jerry's, Baskin Robbins, and Ice Hut all within 4 blocks.
