Take my review with a grain of salt, because I don't really know what the pho I'm talking about. I haven't had a lot of pho in my lifetime--probably because it's rare that I'm in the mood for a hot bowl of noodles when I go out to eat.
Pho Cyclo Cafe offers a number of varieties of pho and plenty of non-soup items too. I thought the pho tai nam (with rare steak and flank) was tasty, although it wasn't as hot as I'd like. I appreciate not sweating over a boiling cauldron of soup, but it was cold by the time I was done eating. I also felt like I didn't get a lot of noodles. I eyed my friend's veggie pho enviously. It had lots of noodles and big chunks of tofu and veggies. Mine was a little dull with its unremarkable strips of beef--which weren't as thin or tender as I expected either. I think I'll order the veggie next time.
Service was friendly, but seemed a bit slow--my friend's bubble tea showed up several minutes after our food did. All in all I had a nice time, enjoyed my lunch and felt it was reasonably priced. But I want to check out Broadway's other pho options before I return.
Oh yeah, and don't get faked out by their door that doesn't open, or you'll look like a doofus.

I enjoyed the delicious Pink Peppercorn IPA, a collaboration between New Belgium and Elysian. They also had one of my favorite IPA's, Racer 5 from Bear Republic. My friend had a fantastic imperial black IPA from Uinta--which I swear could've passed for a stout.
The pizza is pretty good. I like that they're small pies, only 10" or so--it makes it easy to share, which is just what we did. The "meat" delivers exactly what it advertises: sausage, prosciutto, pancetta and buffalo mozarella. Yum. We also enjoyed the pulled pork and kimchee pizza (with jalepenos--you had better like it hot). I wasn't exactly blown away by the pizza (head to Via Trib if that's what you're looking for) but we came for the brews and I definitely appreciate that they have some good food options.
I feel like the Pine Box still has a few rough edges that need ironing out (like some cramped seating upstairs--and a bench that is a little too close to some woodwork that is easy to bump one's head on), but we enjoyed ourselves and I'm looking forward to coming back to sample more of their taps.
Welcome to the hill, Pine Box!
