I've been to a number of Armenian places in the area and this isn't really the most authentic, but they serve excellent food (certainly not dry) it's all tasty and fresh, from my own experiences.

It's not cheap, but they do give you a lot of food; sorta like you're paying for two meals rather than one.

The service is awesome and they thought I was funny. THat made me happy. The food rocks. Sam N. is wrong

Having moved to Monrovia, I've been itching to find a good wine place, since the Twisted Vine in Fullerton is no longer a regular option...

This place seems to fit the bill. Knowledgable staff and owners, very friendly.

They change out their wines and cheeses weekly to keep things fresh, which I like. Though, i was saddened to read that they will be closing shop soon. Bummer.

Well, get there, support them while they're there kids. =)

This place is interesting. Nice ambience on the inside, though, I didn't sit down for dinner. My girl and I sat at the bar and had a couple drinks.

The staff was friendly and attentive. The owner, Richard I believe, was very nice and helpful with his recommendations. With desert I took him up on his suggestion of the creme brule. Never had one quite like it, it was fantastic! Soft, creamy, firm. Yum. He gave us a dessert wine, on the house, to enjoy with dessert and it was fantastical as well.

I'd come back more times than George Foreman for that dessert!

Sepulveda blvd conjures up many images for me. Most of which have to do with illicit behavior, drugs, 'tutes and getting booked at the local police station. Needless to say, I approached the Melody Bar and Grill with some trepidation...

My fears were quickly assuaged. This is actually a pretty cool spot, near LAX. The gal and I came here for some drinks and eats. The drinks are par-for-the-course. The food was surprising. Have you ever heard of "Dive Gastro??" Neither did I, but that's how I would describe their food. I ordered a burger with a nice aoili and some pork belly skewers (freaking MMMMM!)

The inside has a lot of character, like a boxer whose face looks like pummeled hamburger meat, but the heart of a champion... Like Rocky Balboa...

I came here to check this place out because I'm going to be hosting a little mixer and wanted to find a cool non-uptight venue to do it in and I think I found my place. If you're curious, the event is here: http://www.yelp.com/ev...

Melody Bar and Grill, go to there.

Okay, okay. I dig the concept, but after experiencing this place, i think I'd much rather have someone pour me my wines instead... I like the personal interaction to walking up to a nozzle...

Their wine selection is pretty fantastic and being able to serve yourself is a novel idea. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and make some keen recommendations based on what you might be eating. Overall, I'd go back.

On another note...

I broke their restroom... They weren't too happy about that either... Actually it was sort of embarassing, so I blamed it on one of my friends when she wasn't looking and said "SHE DID IT!!!" As loudly as I could. Needless to say, the sommolier was none too pleased with her the rest of the night. Consequently, my friend was none too pleased with me the rest of the night as well.

Stout has great beer and a bartender with nice knockers. Hey, hey! Don't you judge me! I see what I see, kinda like Georgia O'Keefe, but I don't paint!

This was a pretty stellar place to go with a pretty damned good beer selection. I mean, they have Tripel Karmeliet!! I was winning at life when I was there.

The burgers are pretty awesome, too. I'd recommend it as a quick stop off to greater things.

It's a den alright... It has stairs that go downward into a general eating area. The place also has a great patio. Their fish tacos were really good and the happy hour is rock-solid for the prices, of course.

I'm pretty sure the waitress wanted to fight me and, kids, that is a battle I'd be willing to lose.

Slater's 50/50 Burgers

Hey fellow Yelpers. I just got released from the hospital from the massive coronary caused by my 50/50 burger. If you want to know about Slaters, go ahead and read the other reviews and get your intel. I'm just going to share the experience.

Upon entry, it seems like your average bar. It smells of beef and body odor, so you know there's something good going on there. I stepped over to the bar and had a yoohoo with a straw, of course (i'm not drinking for the month of may, dammit), while I waited for a table.

When I was finally sat, the waiter laid it all out and I pretty much ordered the fiddy fiddy, with a bunch of stuff, topped with an egg over-easy. It was like Manny Pacquiao strapped a hunk of beef to his mighty fist and punched you clean in the mouth with it; and it was good! I would let Manny abuse my face with his meaty fists any time. It was one of the best burgers I've had and for a long time Father's Office in Culver City held that title... That an OC shop stole the crown was surprising and awesome.

The service was good and the bacon shake was pretty stellar, too; very strong maple taste to it. I think it was the last bit of bacon in the shake that caused me to drop to the floor, face down, in the firm grasp of a food coma.

Thank you Slater's and St. Jude Medical center! You make me feel brand new!

The lovely Angela O. had a bad experience here, so i had my doubts going in. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This is a good spot for the beer people, for sure.

It wants to be a Gastropub, but it needs to keep trying on the food front as what I had was fairly average.

The gal and I enjoyed our beers, the bartender and friendly clientele before we headed off to some other place called Stout. However, children of the corn, that is another story for another time...

Fosselman's Ice Cream

Not sure what they put in the ice cream, but I'm pretty sure methamphetamines are illegal. Fosselman's is good, damn good.

It's a staple of the area, an institution if you will. The ice cream here, the place and the staff all conjured up images from my child hood (pre sex change and pre circus career). I was in love with everything.

They don't try to overwhelm you with tons of choices or exotic and weird choices; they focus on solid product and superior service.

Go to there or I keeeck you!
