Bija took my engagement shots and we loved them! They were very unique, shot in black and white in urban landscapes, and they really captured the love in our engagement without being cheesy. Exactly what we were going for. We used one as our save-the-date and received lots of compliments. She is friendly, has a knack for making you feel comfortable, and produces great work.

The people who work at this place are really nice, but I'm afraid that's all that they have going for them. Their product is crap.

I bought a BMS Evo Vespa-esque looking scooter in Nov. 2009. It was really pretty looking, the price was right, and I fell in love with it.

Turns out, you get what you pay for, because I pretty immediately started having problems with it. The alarm on it was faulty and began going off spontaneously WHILE I WAS RIDING IT and had to be replaced. The idle had to be adjusted numerous times because the engine would SHUT OFF when stopped at a red light or stop sign. The battery does not hold a charge well and I have to hook it up to a trickle charger EVERY NIGHT. Plastic parts like the seat latch have broken off so that I cannot utilize the storage under my seat. The accelerator does not always work properly. The list goes on...

Service for the scooter was "free" every time, but I had to pay $60 for towing of the scooter to their garage in Alameda at least 4 times, a couple times I even rode the piece of crap though the Webster Tube for servicing, talk about terrifying! After all this, the darn thing still doesn't work right. I've just accepted that it is prone to spontaneous engine cut off and erratic functioning  and tried to make due for my short daily commute from Oakland to Berkeley. How I have gotten 1400 miles on it this year is nothing short of a miracle... A dangerous, frustrating unreliable miracle.

I've been saving my money and am buying a name brand non Chinese knock off scooter soon. Learn from my mistake and don't be dazzled by the good looks and low price of these vehicles.

It was the rockabilly style dresses printed with pretty skulls in the window that lured me in to this place. While none of the dresses looked that great on me, I did end up buying a totally badass leather motorcycle jacket on sale for $50 here. Awesome deal. The owner is really nice and stocks a reasonable selection of cute plus sized womens clothes.

This place only makes beignets and they do a damn good job. There is a reason why I stopped here 3 times during my one week stay in New Orleans. The fact that they are one 24/7 made it almost too easy to finish off a good night of drinking and cavorting with some fried sugary deliciousness. Stopping here at least once is a must for anyone visiting NOLA.

As a vegetarian visiting the meat mecca that is New Orleans I was really happy to come across the only vegetarian restaurant in the city. What a joy it is to look a menu and know that you can eat everything on it. The food was pretty good. I got a fried chick'n po'boy with salad and loved every bite. I was wanting to try the red beans and rice with chicken and cornbread but I was sweating to death and the idea of eating all that hot food was making me sad. Next time!

This tour was easy, informative, and fun! Bob was a great guide. We did a tour of the lower 9th ward and he was able to provide all kinds of information to put all of the sights in to perspective. When we got caught in a down pour and sought refuge at a local gas station Bob offered to call us a cab and said he would come back to get our bikes later. Fortunately for us, the rain eased up and we were able to finish off the tour. One for my fave things we did in NOLA for sure.

I LOVE this place. Sure it's pricey, but quality glasses are pricey. They have the best and most epic collection of dead stock vintage frames and super rad modern frames as well. I purchased some 1950's cat eye sunglasses bedazzled with rhinestones and pearls, as well as some one of a kind specs designed by the owner. I am so glad I found this place. I will be back!

I've found my new favorite quick lunch spot! They have super fresh yummy organic salads with tons of toppings for cheap. Be warned though, the "big salad" for a mere $6 is huge. I just got the 1/2 salad for $3.50 and with the free hunk of bread & butter it was a meal in itself. This place is a keeper.

Update - 7/9/2009
guess what dudes, i have moved on from this place. while they are super nice, i was was starting to feel like my prescription was off target. kind of blurry, having some headaches. i had them recheck it and they assured me it was correct.  i got 2 other opinions, and BOTH said i had a different prescription.

they are really nice but when i come to eye care, nice ain't enough to cut it.

Dr. Wong is super gentle and his scripts are very accurate. They take my insurance (VSP) and are really nice.  The receptionist might be a little heavy on the cologne wearing, but he is funny, helpful and gave me free glasses cases, contact solution, and eyeglass cleaning cloths! This place rocks.

this place looks like it is getting ready to open, and i am super excited! i've been watching folks work on it for months.

i need a really tasty salad place near work, and i want amanda's to be it. also, the menu online looks super reasonable and yummy! 3.75 for a burger (homemade veggie with waluts and mushrooms or naturally raised beef) sounds like a deal! sign me up!

i'm watching you amanda, and when you open your doors, i'll be there.

UPDATE 7/30:

Okay, so I got to have lunch there one Monday. The decor looks good, with a big picnic table and bright green/white walls. The fact that they have an outdoor seating area is real nice too.

I got the super veggie combo with avocado. The fries were airbaked and tasty, the veggie burger had potential but wasn't  very hot and needed a little more seasoning, and the salad was solid. Since it was their first day and the place was packed, I'll cut them some slack on the burger, I'm hoping they figure that one out.

Best thing tasted there: The freshly made soda. Wow, I had a sip ofmy friend's ginger beer and had to snatch some of my own. I could drink that all day!

All and all, this place is pretty great. Healthy, reasonably priced, and all recycled packaging. Welcome  to Berkeley Amanda!  I'm totally going to be a regular.
