Denny's

We drove up and down Middle Country Road looking for this Denny's and just when we finally gave up to turn to go to IHOP we spotted the restaurant. Both searched on Google and Navigator gave us the wrong location!
Denny's is very popular in other parts of the country but there are only 2 Denny's on Long Island and none in NYC.

Their menu is extensive and we had a hard time deciding on what to order.
We asked about the new skillet dishes and the waitress gave a thumbs up recommendation.

So our meal-
Prime Rib & Potato sizzlin' Skillet $7.99- Delicious; the prime rib was very tender and tasty. The combination of potatoes and  x was great.  Rate 4/5.

Chicken & Potato Sizzlin' Skillet $7.99- Also delicious; just as good as the Prime Rib dish. Rate 4/5.

Service was friendly and the place is very clean.
The parking lot is large.
After the big meal you'll want to walk around the Centereach Mall where Denny's is located.

Stew Leonard's

Stew Leonard's is like the marriage of Wally World and a supermarket.
The kids get a kick out of the animatronic and the adults get to shop.

When I make a trip up north I always check to see if I'm near a Stew Leonard's for some breakfast, lunch or supper on the road.

This Stew Leonard is the closest to NYC and is an easily accessible from I-87.

We stop off from some breakfast food on the way up Westchester; bagels, bread and snacks.
Store selections and prices, the selections are limited and the prices is good to average- rate 4/5.

On the way back we grabbed their popular lobster rolls & dessert for a late lunch-
Box of two lobster rolls- $12
Box of three lobster rolls- $15
We got the box-of-three!  The filling is just lobster and mayo on potato roll.
A lot of whole lobster pieces. Some were a little over cooked.
Add the lemon, it will taste much better.   Rate 4/5.

Stew Leonard's Yogurt- the pistachio is delicious! Rate 5/5.

I have been to four Stew Leonard's and I like this location the most.

Famous Dave's

At Famous Dave's there is a reason why they serve their All American BBQ Feast on a galvanized garbage can lid; you feel like a pig eating this meal!

The four of us just could not finish the whole feast.

All American BBQ Feast $60 (prices are different at other restaurants)-  you get
A full slab of St. Louis-Style spareribs
a whole country-roasted chicken,
1/2 lb. of Texas Beef Brisket ( or Georgia Chopped Pork),
coleslaw, fries, beans , 4 corn-on-the-cob,
four corn bread muffins.  Served family-style for 4-6
Rate 4/5.
The feast is the best way to eat when you have picky people who can't decide!
You get a sample of many items to try and it was fun!

Joe's Ginger

Category: Chinese
Neighborhoods: Chinatown, Civic Center

3.0 star rating

This place is really popular with the non-locals and tourists because it is written up in many Food Publications. There is always a line outside.

Soup dumpling - just average. A little under cooked.  Rate 3/5.
Braised Shanhai-style meatballs in brown sauce- The dish was too salty and swimming in gravy.  Rate 3/5.
Service- lack of response. Trying to get someone's attention requires a flag or a flare gun.  Rate 2/5.

Joe's is a safe bet for average food. There are so many other places around with much tastier dishes without the wait.

The original restaurant closed and reopen as New Wong!

Their dishes of Cantonese food are pretty authentic & large!
Who does not like that?

But they gave the decorating to a person who love PINK. The whole place is painted PINK.

The Chicken Pan Fried Noodle $8.50- huge dish, enormous to feed two hungry Yelpers.  Rate 4/5.

I guarantee the food will distract you from their questionable pink decor.

My friend held a fun birthday party at Jane!
A party of about 50 close friends and family members down stair in the party room open wine bar and fixed menu appetizer and sit down dinner.

The food was very good and the service is great.

Reservations is a must for Saturday and Sunday!
I would definitely come back to the main dining room in the future.

My neighborhood shop for Italian ices!
It is located at the corner of 69th Street and 55 Ave. (near Grand Ave.) right off the LIE or a short drive from Queens Blvd.

A clean shop run by locals with also hot dogs and other snacks.
In the summer they put out PVC lawn chairs and tables for their customers.

I usually get the Italian ices. Great treat on those hot days.
(I have not try the ice cream cause I'm lactose intolerance)

This Brooklyn bike path from the pier at Bary Ridge Ave to Bay Parkway is one of the gems of Brooklyn.!
The oneway distance is almost 5-miles.
Excellent surface, smooth, scenic and well marked.

Best time to ride is during the morning before the crowds.
Parking available around the Owlhead Park streets or the park lots along Shore Parkway.
