FOX Sports Grill

Categories: Sports Bars, American (Traditional)
Neighborhood: Atlantic Station

5 star rating
 4/16/2009
I had the pleasure of dining at one of Atlanta's hopping locations the Fox Sports Grill.  It's a great spot for catching up on the latest games, grabbing drinks with pals or just relaxing with an appetizer and your laptop.  So I decided it was time to put the Fox Sports Grill to Da Vinci's Personal Taste Test.  (for video check out http://www.davincisblo...)

Location:  The location is prime it's in the center of nightlife of Atlanta.  Atlantic Station is a hub for arts, dining, and happy hours, and the Fox Sports Grill gets to be a part of that. 5/5

Ambience:  The ambience for me is a great, it's perfect for a happy hour, watching the game with pals, a casual date or even working on the lappy while you relax with their great drink menu. Although it may get noisy on game nights I still think it makes for a good date spot.  5/5

Staff Service:  The staff service was excellent,  they were very attentive and accommodating. 5/5

Variety & Presentation Of Menu:  The menu has a good variety, definitely something for everyone; Salads, ribs, fish, etc and they had a detailed drink menu. 5/5

Food Taste & Value:  The food was GOOD, from my Fox Grill Sampler to the succulent ribs I was more than satisfied and then to top it off the dessert was se magnifiquè.  For such a prime location, quality of food, portions you're definitely getting your money's worth. 5/5

Overall Experience: Overall my dining experience was FANTASTIC, the facilities were clean, the atmosphere was good and the food was delicious. 5/5

Eclipse Di Luna

I had a good time the other day dining at one of Atlanta's hidden Gems, Eclipse Di Luna Restaurant and Tapas Bar.  I visited the Miami Circle location which you REALLY have to know where you're going to even find it, and I decided to put it to Da Vinci's Personal Taste Test!

My review is broken down into the following categories and you can see just how Eclipse Di Luna did by D.V.B.L standards.

Check Out More Of My Experience at http://www.davincisblo...

Location:  The location is really obscure as I said it's not one that you would just stumble across because it's so hidden.  3.5/5

Ambiance:  The ambiance for me is a good selling point, it's perfect for a night out with friends, after work drinks with coworkers and small gatherings.  I wouldn't recommend it for an intimate evening but it makes for a good casual date spot.  With the live music, constant flow of drinks, you'll have fun.  5/5

Staff Service:  The staff service was okay, at times they seemed to be really confused by what's going on.  There is room for improvement there. 4/5

Variety & Presentation Of Menu:  The menu had a decent variety but I didn't like that it wasn't visually appealing, no pics at all, also there wasn't a separate drink menu or even space on the menu for you to know what drinks were available. 3.5/5

Food Taste & Value:  The food was good, it had it's highs and lows but overall I would say it's a good food for the price you pay so definitely worth a visit. I enjoyed a Sangria while I was there definitely a bang for your buck, not too sweet and not too bitter and a great portion. 4/5

Overall Experience: Overall the restaurant has a good vibe, the facilities were clean and the live music isn't something you can beat. 4/5

Cirque du Soleil - Kooza

Category: Performing Arts
Neighborhood: Brookhaven

4 star rating

I had the pleasure of catching the Cirque Du Soleil's Kooza at Atlanta's Atlantic Station. For those of you who don't know, KOOZA is a story about The Innocent, who is a melancholy loner searching for his place in the world. This is my second Cirque Du Soleil show, the last was Le Revè, and all I can say is I wasn't sure what to expect but I was pleasantly satisfied by the show. You're entertained by comedy, juggling, interactive surprises and the fun definitely doesn't stop there. The show is laced with incredible music that helps build the suspense as the acrobats soar through the air. I must admit there were many instances that I was on the edge of my seat and holding my breath praying that nobody fell, but that's part of the rush in it all. My favorite acts in the show were the contorsionists, the juggler and the devastatingly daring duo who conquered the wheel of death.

The show was amazing in it's own right but a few notes from Da Vinci...

1. It's worth every penny to buy great seats...however, beware if you're in the front rows you may become a part of the show.

2. Prepare a food and souvenir budget.

3. Have fun and enjoy the experience.

Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament

Categories: Performing Arts, Restaurants

4 star rating

Medieval Times is celebrating their 25th anniversary by bringing YOU a brand new show.  Last wednesday I was invited by The Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament to give you special coverage of their new show.  It was something I've been wanting to check out for awhile but just hadn't gotten a chance to yet.  So I was very happy to have received the invitation because this show is definitely worth watching and the experience is a BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!!

See video and pictures here: http://davincisbloglog...

The Medieval Times show is not just jousting and swords play, behind it all is a story of romance told with the musical genius of award winning composer Daniel Mays.  The music guides the story, suspense and action helping enhance the theatrics of the characters.  We have a valiant King Phillipe who is just trying to look out for the good of his kingdom, he is accompanied by Princess Leonore while his son the Prince is on a journey to deliver a peace treaty to the King Of Leone, who is also his father in law.

Not only do you get a fantastic show that keeps you engaged the whole time but you also get a meal fit for a king...but don't be surprised when you don't find cutlery at the table, after all it is The Medieval Times. The standard menu includes roasted chicken, a rib, bread and soup and more, however, they also provide a vegetarian menu so no worries for my vegans. I personally think this is a great outing for the family and even a perfect date spot if you want to try something new.  I definitely recommend that you look up a show near you.

The new show has taken 30 months for them to perfect and once I watched it I could see why.  The skill displayed by the Knights of the Realm is astounding.  I had a chance to speak with the Green Knight, J.D Kennedy, after the show and he told me about the intense work outs and hours of training that they all had to endure.  The show is full of expert choreography and swords play, notice I said swords play and NOT childsplay, which kept us all intently watching as you root for your respective knights, for that we have to thank Tim Baker the Corporate Head Knight.  The seating is divided by colors that represent the different knights, so from the beginning they have found a way to capture your attention and keep it as you become a part of the show cheering your champions and booing the enemy.  The Knights aren't the only ones who show off their flawless talents, the show features the swift and precise stylings of a falcon and boasts a nice fleet of dainty stallions who do a variety of tricks.  Thanks to the Chapel Creek Ranch in Texas, not only are these horses raised and trained to be an essential part of the show but the Ranch is also responsible for the preservation of the Andalusian Stallion bloodlines.
