I have always been a fan of soft scrambled eggs. That is how I've always served them but seldom order them when out because they aren't prepared in that manner. I sure wasn't disappointed here; my Les Oeufs Lucas, was just perfect. Scrambled eggs with goat cheese and grilled tomatoes. Loved every forkful. Hubby had the Gingerbread/Lemon pancakes with poached pears. He enjoyed them but got bored with the taste after awhile. Next time he'll stick with the buttermilk pancakes, although I don't mind sharing my eggs.
The dining area is busy and a bit crammed. We were fortunate to get a window seat so we could observe all around us without being right in the middle of it. There is also an outdoor dining area that is open weather permitting.
We'll be back to enjoy another tasty breakfast soon.
Seems like we haven't ever ordered the speciality of the house. Last visit hubby had the fish and chips and they were ok, but I'd give the Grilled Cod Sandwich 4.5 stars if possible. The clam chowder is hot and satisfying on a cold day, but not particularly memorable.
The inside seating is small and can be very crammed. Not at all pleasurable when there are tables full of kids loudly clanking their silverware as they hungerly wait for their meal. The saving grace is the outside patio which welcomes friendly dogs to dine with their owners.
We'll return again soon. If I ever get tired of the Grilled Cod Sandwich, I might try the fish tacos to see what everyone is talking about.

It wasn't the worst sushi that I've ever had but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was good. The eel in the Rock n Roll roll was awful: fishy and not fresh, but the other rolls were just ok.
I'm glad we didn't take any chances by ordering sashimi. When we got the bill for a few rolls and a boring cucumber salad it was about $20 more than our usual spot and a lot less satisfying.
I'm guessing that all the places in Japantown are pretty expensive but I hope there is higher quality sushi to be had in the near vicinity.

Half Moon Bay Crab Boats

The crab season has been plentiful and we have bought off of several boats, but my favorite stop is the "Cricket". This boat is located on the G pier where Bill and Penny Webb, the long married owners and proprietors, provide the best crabs around. They check each crab to be sure you are getting a meaty morsel and provide advise on what to do with them after you leave the harbor, if needed.
Can't beat the price or the experience. Once you get over the deed of steaming those little guys, you'll never have another store bought crab again. One crab purchase provided several meals with the last being the best crab cakes you've ever eaten.
OK, the dirt surface isn't the cleanest but it does provide good traction for racing around after the balls that are scattered all over the area. There are two sections, separated by dog size. Our little dogs have met many doggie pals here and enjoy the socialization.
Note: Dec. 22, 2009 - The BMX area is closed. Not sure if it's permanent or temporary.
I stop here occasionally when I do my grocery shopping nearby. The food is OK; burritos are big and plentiful with the standard selection of meats and your choice of flavored tortillas.
What keeps me coming back is Jose, the owner. He is very friendly and goes out of his way to provide you with service and a meal you will enjoy. He is sincere without being needy. I feel like I'm part of the family when I go through those doors. I think he should be cloned and spread throughout the city.
I will continue to stop in and grab a bite when I'm nearby and recommend giving it a try.

Burger Bar

Alot of hype for a mediocre burger palace. The Cobb Salad was better than the blah $20 Kobe burger with dry tasteless sweet potato fries.
Doubt seriously that we will give it a second try.
I've always wondered why Juan's Place has such a following, so we thought we'd give it another try.
Had to beg for service, blah salsa, greasy fried flour tortilla chips, mediocre enchiladas served with cold dry refrieds. Only reason I gave 2 stars is because they have Birra on the menu.
Not my idea of decent Mexican food. I've eaten better off the taco truck that comes to our campus. There are so many better places to eat in the local area. Some things don't improve with time.
Annie, our Miss Congeniality, delights in running ahead to sniff and socialize with her kind. Lucy, our Princess, prefers to stay close to her humans, but enjoys the attention that is showered upon her in passing. Humans are her thing, not dogs. Unlike her "sister", it is below her to chase foreign balls or generally act crazy in canine company but even prissy dogs have a good time here.
One note: beware of the dogs that are ill mannered/behaved that must be kept on a leash in this environment of freedom. There is a reason for the leash which is why we caution our happy-go-lucky dogs to keep their distance.

Their soups are not to be missed, as well as the hamburger, but everything is wonderful.
A "must-try" on your list!
