I loved the HYPE that we were creating for months before it started. But personally I did not enjoy it as much because I came with a group of 50 kids and for the first two hours i could not find even ONE! I was alone with one other and it was chaos.
Very cute and quaint, almost like a hidden cottage gem in the hills of Santa Barbara, overlooking everything. The lights were gentle and dim and the crowd was all dressed up and elegant. The food was excellant...hot bread, tender asparagus with chicken in a creamy pesto garlic sauce. Everything about this place makes me feel so warm deep inside my heart.
I am not sure how this place is if you wanted to go just as a restaurant (I'm sure it is just as good if not better) But I would definently recommend this place if you need some where to host a birthday party, cotillion, or something else that can hold about 100 people or so.
The Lady (owner) is so funny. I guess I come here a lot because she always pats my back and laughs and then rubs it a little (?) And no one understands her! She speaks in english and throws in some viet every now and then. Even my vietnamese friends have no idea what she says.
But try their appetizer sampler! Fried egg rolls, fresh Spring rolls, and Fried Shrimp wontons all on one plate.
This is a hole in the wall place that can easily be passed because it is on a very small and quiet street off the main road. The owners are really friendly and the lady does this funny thing at the end of your meal where she hugs you and whispers that she loves you and can't wait till you come back. Very funny.
The Xiao long bao is a must! Homemade and steamed shanghainese pork dumplings served in those bamboo dim sum steamers.
Also onion pancakes dipped in a spicy soy sauce! $2.50 for 10 pieces?! yes yes!
Everything else seemed like regular chinese food, which is majorly good for a place that does not have a lot of normal chinese food.
Me and my best friend had just finished hiking up to the very top of the Santa Ynez mountains and we were admiring how high up we were yet so close to the ocean. So we decided to eat ON the beach next to the ocean so we can say we were in both places in one day.
Simple burgers, sandwiches, and bar but I will always come here for their bucket of steamed clams. (NOT MUSSELS)
During happy hour they sell certain appetizers for cheap, so I reccommend coming during this hour!
Also the burritos were surprisingly very good.
Don't forget to bring sunblock when you come!
I did not really care for their ceviche and I don't even remember what the main course was.
It is on the pier overlooking the water and little boats sitting at the pier.
I had to wait 45 minutes during prime dinner time for a table for two outside on the balcony. I really really enjoyed their chowder and cold seafood platter and oysters. The seafood platter (which I really really reccommend for appetizers) is about $14.95 for 2 fresh oysters, 2 fresh clams, ceviche, crab, and shrimp cocktail. Great deal for great food! In general I like to eat things raw so I was in raw heaven.
The Grilled salmon salad was a really good filet of grilled salmon, tender to the cut and juicy. But the salad was not as impressive as the salmon. A simple green salad with grape tomatoes, onions, ice berg lettuce, and olives.
I did not have to wait for lunch when I came back another time. Everyday they have a list of daily specials and I decided to try the grilled seabass with rice pilaf. The Seabass was overcooked and not very dressed up or flavorful. This was the first time I was not happy with seabass=(
But in general I do like this place, if only for the cold seafood platter and chowder.
$16 for shopping mall food court garbage.
the Chap Jae (fried noodles) was mushy and expensive
I somehow made the mistake of ordering delivery
WHAT WAS I THINKING
$20 for kimchi chigae
it was boiled kimchi with some slices of tofu.
DO NOT GO DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER IT
Well we got to the end i found Abalonetti's.
What attracted me was the "best calamari in Monteray!"
and I thought it was a joke because everything is the best or award winning.
But it was very very good calamari! Fresh and tender, fried to the perfect crisp. I had the Marty's special so there was eggplant and marinara sauce with herbs and spices. Perfecto!
And the oysters here were the best oysters with a good price (and was not a specialty oyster bar)
Another very good aspect was eating on the water watching all the wildlife poke their heads out of the water. a
I'm glad I didn't just run for the first thing I smelled swimming.

This place is a popular for big groups and banquets.
Amazing view! (On top of the hill overlooking Santa Barbara/Goleta and the ocean) We had a buffet style of gourmet marsala chicken, grilled fish in white sauce, asian salad, beef stew, and sorbet dessert!)
The photographer was set up on the hill with a gazebo. All the pictures you take will look as if you are living in a dream with all the beautiful people you love.
Full bar.
