Can I give more than 5 stars? 10 stars, anyone??? Please??

Robert was AH-MAZING. Like, seriously the nicest guy ever.

My Jeep Wrangler had a leak that was coming from the transmission (yikes!) and I brought it in and he looked at it FOR. FREE. Then, after a FREE ASSESSMENT he told me it wasn't something that needed to be fixed (just a small crack that could easily be sealed, or just left to leak a little every so often). He even gave me a detailed demo of how to check my transmission fluid every month to make sure that the level is good and instructed me on how to refill it if it ever gets low.

Not a single penny exchanged hands. I actually felt guilty since he was so helpful and so honest. I will definitely be coming here for any and all future car repairs---I even referred my boyfriend who was thrilled with Robert's work, especially since my BF had been quoted an insane price from the Infiniti dealership for the exact same fixes.

Came here for my BFF's birthday brunch celebration and it was fantastic!

+ Having a great selection of brunch items instead of the sometimes boring omelette and pancake options (love me some pancakes, but I also like a little variety in my brunch).

+ Food was delicious. Really big servings. I got the burger minus the meat which is sorta weird to order, but our server was great about it and just added more veggies. Love him.

+ Able to accomodate large parties which is perfect if you want to PAR-TAY! Also perfect for parties are the cocktails...I highly recommend the bicylette.

+ Located conveniently right down the block from my house, and, y'know, other cool stuff.

+ Service was fast but not rushed, we stayed and opened presents for a while after the bill had been paid and our server never bothered us.

Harvest Moon Restaurant

Not an incredibly vegetarian-friendly menu (only option is a salad or a sandwich with cheese, really) BUT the sweet potato fries are practically a friggen' entree and that's a vegetable right? Or a root? Whatever, it's NOT meat so it's all good with me.

Came here with a fellow vegetarian and we had a really nice time on the patio. Our server was attentive but not overbearing and was also super accommodating to my request to add an avocado to one of the salads! Thanks, Harvest Moon.

I have looked far and wide for sweet potato fries that match Harvest Moon's in deliciousness, and let me just tell you people, it has been a tiring journey!  No one does it better!  And man, are they delish.

Came here for a dinner date and we started outside but there were too many flies so they happily moved us inside (even though we had already been served our food).  I love when restaurant's act like your requests aren't an inconvenience at all, even if they are!

The crab dip appetizer is very good.  The crab meat is HUGE and there's plenty of it, and the crosstinis that come for dipping are buttery and crisp.  The crab sandwich is good, too.  I found it a little on the mayo-heavy side, but I'm not a huge mayo fan.  Love the added avocado slices, perfect!

I love Harvest Moon because the food is excellent and the atmosphere is casual and fun...but in that upper-scale kinda way (read: don't wear PJs here, save that for Denny's).

I've never had a bad food experience at Harvest Moon, and I've tried a LOT of things on their menu.  All of their salads are amazing and definitely big enough for a meal.  Personally, I think that half sandwich/salad special is a great deal and you get two for the price of one, essentially.

The sweet potato fries are a great appetizer option.  I never heard of sweet potato fries until Harvest Moon and I'm totally obsessed now.  It's like a delicious, fried piece of Thanksgiving any day of the year!  And I have to agree with Jenna F., that iced tea is off the hook!

One downside: the servers don't write down your order.  This is annoying because they usually always forget to put the dressing on the side, hold the mayo, or pretty much anything in addition to the normal menu item.  I guess it's nice that they aren't writing anything down...but I don't get it.  It would make everyone's experience way less frustrating if they didn't pretend to have amazing memories, because they don't.

Great for lunch but if you're on your lunch break be aware that you'll probably have to wait.

Normally bar chairs with the upholstery coming undone would be a negative thing...but here it works. I feel like "The Basement" would be a more apt name for this bar, right? All the graffiti and spooky red lighting seems more basement-y than attic-y.

The bartender, Jen, is super nice (a big smile goes a long way, people) and was playing some really rad music the night I went.

Brian's 24 is a "so drunk I feel the need to eat greasy food" or "so hungover I feel the need to eat greasy food" kind of joint. I was extremely hungover, the food was extremely greasy, everything was right in my world after having a very late brunch here following a very late Saturday evening of San Diego shenanigans.

That being said, the service was absolutely horrible. But, I mean, you're not coming here for the service, are you? You're coming here for the bottomless plate of fries. Mmmmh.

Ok. Hold up. Who just got a follow-up call from her groomer???? Oh, that's right...THIS GIRL!

How amazing is Bow Wow Meow?! I mean, really? They have a fabulous storefront with a huge selection of treats for both humans (shirts, dog breed accessories, etc) and their furry friends (gourmet treats, leashes & collars, clothes) AND amazingly out of control awesome customer service. I LOVE this place. Can't wait to pick up some treats here for Tater Tot's birthday on June 18th!

Finding a good groomer when you move is SO hard. Tater Tot has been going to the same groomer for the past 7 years so the task of finding a new place had me all kinds of spazzing out.

I decided on Bow Wow Meow because 1. it is super close to my apartment and work 2. they have a lot of reviews (woohoo!) 3. their name is Bow Wow Meow which is obvi the bomb. TICK TICK.

Someone called me the night before my appointment to remind me to bring Tater Tot in at 8AM. I thought this was awesome because even though I had it in my calendar and would have remembered (maybe...) it was nice to have a reminder.

I brought Tater Tot in and the girl who helped me was very nice and asked all kinds of questions to get to know Tater. I was on the fence on whether to shave him completely or just give him a short cut (as a Pomeranian he gets WAY too hot without A/C in the summer) and she was patient with my questions and suggested I go with a short cut. The groomer who took Tater was very friendly and warm which put me at ease. She even made a comment about how cute his name was which was a nice thing to say even if she didn't mean it, ha!

Super fast service (called me within 2.5 hours!), very friendly, and the pet boutique is out of control adorable. I can't wait to come back when I'm not pressed for time so I can browse.

Firehouse American Eatery & Lounge

This place is PACKED on the weekends. I love going to a restaurant that's overflowing with patrons...it's usually a sign that the place rocks and Firehouse definitely does just that.

We had a huge party (more than 15 people) and were seated around 7:30 and amazingly the service was pretty much spot-on. We didn't have to wait too long for our entrees and they timed everything perfectly so it all came out at the same time. There's seriously some magicians working in the kitchen.

I LOVE the menu section titled "America 'HECK' Yeah" because obviously that is the most awesome title ever. I got the firehouse burger with a sub of a vegetarian patty, which is surprisingly $1 extra. Lame, but it was delicious so I won't hold it against them. The fries were plentiful and not too greasy, sort of on the thinner side which I like.

The rooftop patio is crazy gorgeous and I hope to come back and sit there one evening.

Amazing beach, gorgeous views...and dog friendly?? What more could you ask for?

The beach itself is very clean (thanks everyone for cleaning up after yourselves!) and all the beach goers and laid back and friendly.

Dogs are supposed to be on-leash but people don't follow this rule which is fine...just make sure to keep your eyes pealed for any big pups if you have a little one like me. At one point a huge rottweiler was creepily stalking me and stood right next to my leg staring up at my pomeranian who I had wisely decided to pick up. Perhaps Rotty thought it was a chew toy, easy mistake.

Absolutely insane view of the Golden Gate bridge, just pray the sky is clear long enough to snap some pictures!

Plum Studios Salon

Update - 5/5/2010 ROTD 8/16/2010
Ok, as per my last review it is no secret that I was dissatisfied with my hair cut...however, Maral PROMPTLY (like within a day or two) sent me a PM apologizing for any mis-communication during my appointment and offering me a complete refund for her services.

In terms of customer service, this is definitely as good as it gets. True, I wasn't happy with my hair and ended up trimming it myself later that weekend, but the fact that Maral stands by her work and knows the actions to take when a customer isn't satisfied is seriously 5-star worthy.

My bangs are crooked. Waaah. I paid 75 bucks for crooked bangs.

I was in DESPERATE need of a haircut since my last salon visit was at the end of October and thought I'd give Plum Studios a try (my #1 least favorite thing about moving is finding a new hair stylist!). I really liked the easy-to-use web appointment system and Plum had pretty decent Yelp ratings so I figured I couldn't go wrong.

The salon is located in a super cute shopping district in Burlingame, sadly all parking is metered so make sure you have a few dollars worth of quarters! The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home, my stylist Maral was particularly nice...but that doesn't make up for my hair.

I have really straight shoulder-length hair with blunt bangs (as you can see in my current primary pic). I've never had an issue with someone cutting my hair before since I've only been getting trims the past year or so, but Maral just couldn't get it right. She dried and flat-ironed my hair BEFORE cutting it which I thought was weird, but hey, every stylist has their way of doing things.

Anyway, once the cut was finished and I went into the bathroom to change (they give you an apron-thingy to wear so you don't get wet from the sinks) I noticed my bangs were crooked and asked her to even them out. She didn't really get what part was crooked, even though it was clear the left side of my bangs were way higher than the right. She snipped a bit off and I figured they'd look normal after I shampooed and styled them.

    WRONG.

Toto's Pizzeria

I feel sort of harsh giving two stars, but I've tried Toto's twice and I really, really am not a fan of the place. The establishment is clean and the staff is very courteous and friendly but the pizza is just "meh."

They DO NOT have thin crust which is so lame. The margherita pizza is really just a cheese pizza with a small smattering of basil on top. Why is it so hard to find a decent margherita pizza nowadays?? It's just buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, and tomatoes! Le sigh.

Some people really like this place, and if I liked thicker crust pizza I might enjoy it, too.
