100% agreed on Jessica S's comments below. We were there as a group for happy hour after work. We were dressed and acting appropriately, but somehow treated like second rate patrons because we were getting a special group deal of $5 bloody mary's and $3 bud lights. Everyone at our table was ordering drinks and everyone ordered food. We didn't just camp out in a booth for an hour drinking water.

Iggy was not helpful (in fact, as a "manager" he made it WORSE, not better) and Sarah S. our server was rude and overly rushed from the beginning.

This place is a great concept with awesome decor, but my group sadly had an awful experience. I will probably not be back.

It's a standard bar. It has beer. It has loud music from a jukebox and a bathroom attendant. It also has beer towers if you get a table. So there's that.

It definately has a college/young crowd vibe, but I've never had a terrible experience here. In fact, the couple times I've been have actually been a lot of fun with friends.

I never ended up buying a scent here, but the girl behind the counter was very knowledgable and put a bunch of different combos together for me to smell based on my preferences and reactions. And by a bunch, I mean my mom and I were in there for 30 minutes sniffing away.

Regardless of my inability to make an actual decision, she was super friendly and gave me a card with some of the scents I picked out in case I wanted to come back. I haven't been back yet (it's nearly impossible for me to pick perfume, let alone make one!) but hey, I tried and she certainly helped me out.

Gosh, this place has great gifts. I've never bought anything for myself here, but if I need to find a cute little something, be it a necklace, stationary, candles, funny kitchen gadgets...I know to come here.

They have their staple products, but I always seem to find new and interesting things when I go in. It's not just the same-ol' gift shop everytime. It's a big store so be prepared to spend some time browsing if it's your first time in.

The gift wrapping is also very cute!

It definately has a cute storefront and the window displays are always great .

Why then only 3 stars? I've never personally found anything that I liked enough to buy here. (I have been in twice, maybe third time is the charm?)

The Left Bank Jewelry & Wedding Shoes

This store is about two doors down from my apartment. I used to walk by it all the time and look at all the beautiful sparkly wedding items in the window - I didn't want to jinx myself and go in before I was engaged.

Then alas, he asked and I made my first visit after all those months walking by. The women were so friendly, giving me wedding advice as we looked at the shoes and jewelry. It was too early for me to pick out anything then, but I'm definately going to go back when the big day gets closer to take a serious look at the jewelry and hair pins.

Also, they have a bunch of cute little wedding inspired gifts in there as well. So, if you knew someone newly engaged, you could probably find them a little gift here.

They have expanded! Same great place, but with more seating next door to enjoy your cupcake, cabinet pudding or whatever kind of cookie you decided on. It really opens the space up to enjoy it there instead of taking it and fleeing to get your sugar rush.

If you like butter cream frosting, this is the place to go. It's sugar-coma-inducing in a good way.

Every time I've been in here, it's packed but they do a good job of getting you what you want/ letting you know they will help you in a minute. The staff is VERY friendly. It's also nice that they have other treats besides cupcakes such as bars, cookies, brownies and other sweet creations.

Get a "dirt cup." It'll make you feel like the happiest 2nd grader on the planet.

I celebrated my birthday this year by inviting friends out to drinks here on a Saturday night. We did have to wait in a fake line in the cold (only for a couple minutes) but once inside enjoyed plenty of space.

Everyone had a great time - the beer was cheap and the Micheladas (sp?) were awesome. It's one of their specialties: Tecate mixed with a house blend of spices to form a very original, spicy beer. Lined with salt and served with lime. A+

We camped out near the little kitchen window, and it's certainly too bad I didn't come more hungry. The little tacos and other dishes waltzing by looked (and SMELLED) delicous. Several friends ordered 1 or 2 and were very happy.

I'm going back here with a group of girlfriends to eat this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it. Let's hope they don't make us stand in line, that's just cruel in the Chicago winter...

PS. You have to order food to get a table. If you want one, make sure you get your name on the list by finding the hostess. And the tables are huge, this place would be good for a big group.

Ikea

Like IKEA needs another review... but here goes.

I. LOVE. IKEA. My entire apartment is furnished with IKEA goodies(sans a couple Target items and a foosball table where a table from IKEA should be)

I really like the layout of this IKEA, I hear they are not all the same. It's easy to manuveur around in it, even with the large Saturday crowds.

The only thing I will not buy from IKEA is sheets, that is something you have to spend real money on and can't get for cheap. They shrink like crazy, are scratchy and just not worth it. But everything else you get my blessing to buy.

I've been here a couple times and have always had a positive experience at this casual, laid back steakhouse.

The favorite dish I've ever ordered was the chicken kabob. The wheat beer was different, but a-ok overall.
