[Despite the gripe I have below, I have been there before a few times and it's still worth the 5 stars I gave it - it's that good.]

When we got there they were crowded and overbooked, to the point where they stopped letting those without reservations in (for the rest of the day). Not to complain, as I realize that it did happen to be the week before Christmas, but I found the following situation interesting.

They use OpenTable to schedule their reservations (go to Carmine's own website and see), but when we told the guy at the door that it hadn't allowed us to make weekend reservations when we tried a few weeks ago, he simply had no idea what OpenTable even was (no big deal, but kinda surprising). I've even tried doing so for some time late next year, just to see, and still no luck; might have to call and find out why.

You can make a reservation by phone, of course, but in the event that they might limit weekend reservations to a call-in basis only (which I don't have confirmation of - yet), they should state so on their website. However, as of this moment, they do not.

Otherwise, have been there before and loved it. Just wish we could've gotten in, but it actually ended up being a good thing after all was said and done since we got to try places we probably wouldn't have tried any other time.
