My family was at the Lodge for my sister's wedding. The staff at the Lodge was extremely accommodating. We had the whole Retreat area plus some rooms in the main building. A great location for a family event!

(I started this review on 10/12/2009 - but didn't finish - I don't remember much more about the experience...though we left with a good impression).

Can't believe I haven't reviewed Elite yet!

I have rented large trucks from Elite several times to do various projects for the company I work for. These guys are so easy to deal with. They have large, well maintained trucks. They have trucks with lift gates (working lift gates!!!). You show up, give them a credit card, and walk away with a truck, zero hassles.

Would recommend over u-haul ANY DAY!!!

The people at Elan Photography were a pleasure to work with for our wedding photos. We got married back in 2005 - but we just met with them again to purchase our entire stock of digital files. They great people to work with now just as they were then.

From the Kirsten in the studio, to the photographer, to the owner, everyone that we encountered was professional, knowledgeable, and agreeable to our wishes. Our album was of the highest quality and through a few revisions we got exactly what we wanted.  

I wouldn't hesitate for a second to recommend Elan to photograph your wedding.

Brought our German guests to S&W this past Friday night and they absolutely loved everything. While the food was excellent, as was the view, everything was not as perfect as it should have been. One of our steaks wasn't cooked to requested temperature, and the table itself had a problem with one of the drop edges. The attentiveness of the staff was very much appreciated.

One of the best parts of my stay at this Doubletree was the A+ bartender who was rocking it out on Saturday night after two weddings finished up and poured into the bar. He kept my glass filled the whole night while pouring shot after shot of patron and handling 7or 8 big tabs pretty much by himself. So props to you bartender man!

I also love Doubletree bedding. So comfortable, plush and plenty warm.

The Sunday afternoon wedding I attended was well looked after by the hotel staff, but I can't help but think there are many better places in LA to have a wedding. San Pedro is in the middle of nowhere!

Yes the cookies are good, but they don't really make up for the only 3 towels they provided for the room. Shouldn't a room with 2 beds get 4 towels??? The cookies also don't make up for the fact the the room wasn't cleaned after our 2nd night. And they don't make up for the room service trays strewn outside many rooms at all hours of the days. So - housekeeping, you get a D-

The pool was nice and so was the hotel security guard, who was clearly there for the benefit of the guests and not to give the guests a hard time. Valet guy you rock too, my car showed up at exactly the right time to get me to the airport for my early morning flight.

I usually like Doubletrees. They are a bit expensive, which is why i generally expect all the normal parts of a hotel experience to at least be acceptable.

I love everyone that works at this Starbucks! They start making my drink the second I walk in the door, I don't even have to speak sometimes. Though I loathe personal interaction, I appreciate the kind and friendly attitude of everyone here. Good job ladies - Thanks!

ATTN Average Dominick's Shopper!!!: If you can't figure out how to go through a checkout and pay for the items you want to buy, please just stay home and order Peapod or something. I swear, if I have to wait in line behind someone that has to check the price on their bag of apples, decide that it is "Too much. I don't want it" and instead pay for their bottle of water that they just finished - using their link card of course, I am going to totally flip out in the middle of that line!!!

Moving on, I must echo R B in saying the only thing good about this Dominick's is that the parking lot gives it the edge up on the Jewel at Roosevelt and State.

If you MUST go to this Dominick's, go during the daytime on a week day. That is when the full time union grocers work who actually give a crap about their jobs. In the evenings they employ people who couldn't suck any more at customer service if they tried. And don't even think about getting your groceries bagged for you, that is strictly do it yourself in the evenings. However, I will give praise to the majority of the stock workers, regardless of time of day, who always seem to care about their jobs and helping people find stuff around the store.

If only Whole Foods weren't so expensive, I would never have to go to a Dominick's again.

Wow! - what a great yelp event! This one goes up there with the best yelp events ever. Thanks Berghoff! I didn't know you had that cafe downstairs, i'll be sure to come by during lunch sometime.

After being very loyal to Sheffield's in Lakeview, we wanted to drive out to try the new River Grove location. They are not the same. Not at all. If you want a beer bar, this is not your place. That being said, they have a decent selection of beer, but their drafts are a little light. Their bottle list is on the wall in the dining room, which we didn't notice until we were leaving. It really needs to be printed out and included with the draft menu. Food did take a little while longer than it should have, but they were very apologetic and comped some drinks. Sounds like they are still working out the bugs int he kitchen. The Tilapia special was pretty tasty, the pizza was average.

They are really pushing the IL no-smoking law, allowing people to smoke on the patio, even providing ash-trays. But I guess they think it is ok as most of the tables are more than 15 feet away from the door. There really is no place for smoking at a place trying to call itself a "Beer Bar" or "Beer Garden." Fancy beer does not mix with smoking.

I would probably go back if I were in the area, or perhaps on a weekend afternoon when the beer garden are might be more active. Otherwise I won't be making any special trips here.

Ate here again on a regular weekday night. Most dishes were excellent if not really good. Service was attentive. I think this place will end up having a long run.
