I adore the Dragontree. The Thurman Street location is fabulously decadent, from the rich decor to the calming water features and music. I've never had a massage at the Dragontree that was less than stellar. Check out the Wellness Programs - you can sign up for a monthly massage and feel like utter royalty.

Bertie Lou's is a greasy spoon, and I mean that in the best possible way. The food is good, the waitresses and cooks friendly, and the coffee plentiful. If you go on a weekend, expect to wait. A LONG time. But if you're not collapsing from hunger and don't mind sipping your coffee outside while you wait for a table (yes, they will give you coffee while you wait), you will be rewarded by hearty portions of eggs, bacon and home fries.

I love donuts. I once contemplated publishing a coffee-table book of the best donuts in the country, just so I'd have an excuse to travel from state to state stuffing my face with crullers.
Coco Donuts would definitely be in the running.
Their light-as-air donuts are utterly delightful, and the coffee is good, too. The employees are super nice, and I'm utterly in love with the decor.
The ONLY thing holding me back from five stars is the fact that they close kind of early and are usually pretty cleaned out toward the end of the day - right about the time my donut craving ramps into high gear.

Every time I go to Little Big Burger I think the fries cannot possibly be as good as I remember them. And every time, they are.
The burgers are fabulous too, and if my kid's reaction to the rootbeer float was any indicator those are great as well.

I just had my hair cut by Danielle at Fada, and - wow. Just wow. I came in with a mop full of just-the-wrong-length split ends and left looking like a movie star. Danielle asked exactly the right questions and turned my don't into a 'do. Highly recommended.

We love living downtown, but there are some drawbacks to trendy apartment living - namely, a distinct lack of high-school kids eager to babysit our four-year-old while we have the occasional date night or kid-free outing.
WeVillage to the rescue! It's got everything - great location, friendly staff, gorgeous interior - and they only charge a little bit more than that mythical babysitting teenager (plus you don't have to tip them). They're open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, too.
We love it, and more importantly, our kid loves it there. Yay!

Cool Moon Ice Cream Co

I adore Cool Moon. It's in a perfect location (right across the street from Jamison Square in the Pearl) and the flavors are fun and creative (and they'll let you sample as many as you want). But the thing that really won my heart is the hot fudge sauce. I can't even describe how amazing their hot fudge sauce is. It's so good I only ever get vanilla ice cream in my sundaes so as not to distract from the taste of the hot fudge. Lucikly, they usually have at least two different kinds of vanilla, so I'm not wanting for variety. I heard the person after me ordering the Bing Cherry Almond Chip, though, and it sounded good enough to break my all-vanilla streak. Next time!

We finally succombed to the delicious smells wafting from the Samurai Bento cart and got lunch here. SO glad that we did! I had the teriyaki chicken, and it was fantastic - not too sweet, not too much sauce, great grilled flavor to the chicken. The veggies were crisp and fresh and there was plenty of rice. I couldn't even finish mine!

I had the lasagna. Oh how I loved the lasagna. And, seriously, whatever combination of meats was in the sauce did a little dance with the cheese to make something I can only describe as NOM.
It's not cheap, but not super expensive either. The staff chatted in Italian and everyone was incredibly nice. We're definitely going again.

Maya's Taqueria

Oh, how I love Maya's Taqueria. The quesadillas are big and delicious, and the guacamole...the guacamole is the best in town, possibly in the state. Prices are excellent and they're always super friendly. Yum.
