Standard bar fare, but twice as pricey thanks to the ESPN name. It's hard to get in during a game that folks actually want to see. In downtime, even when it's open they don't sit you in the section that actually makes this place interesting---the row of La-z-boys set up in front of a gigantic television. Don't waste your money without reservations and doing some research, there's not much special about this place.

Ok so I've been giving a lot of five stars lately, but these are either places that impressed the heck out of me or have become go-to's because of a few good dishes.  This place is the latter.

It's nothing particularly special inside but its spacious and accommodating. Except for one or two times service has been lightning-quick and no-nonsense. I'm normally adventurous with the menu of a place I'm just trying but here I'm hooked on two dishes: L1(Honey Chicken) and the more "authentic" B2 (Vermicelli noodle bowl w/grilled pork).

Since I always go during lunch, my bill never exceeds $8.

Honey chicken is a sweet, Southern-ified concoction that bears pretty much no resemblance to any Asian food I've had before. But it's delicious and addictive. Even more addictive is the noodle bowl. In a large dish you get: vermicelli noodles, lettuce, carrots, green onions, sprouts, peanuts, and "grilled pork" (which is crispy and delicious enough not to taste "grilled"). In a separate dish you get "vietnamese sauce." I'm not sure what's in it but when you put it together it's magic.

Thumbs up for fast service and consistently incredible taste!

Great lunchtime fare! Nice weekend dinner as well.

At lunch you can order a half a sandwich and rice for between approx $6-9, for dinner, you can get a full spread (meat dish, fried or boiled yuca, yellow or white rice, sweet or green plantains, black or red beans, Francesca sauce) for between $9-13. I always bring home leftovers.

Recommended entrees: ropa vieja, picadillo, lechon asado. From the apps menu: croquetas, papa relleno (fried potato stuffed with spiced beef). From the lunch menu: medianoche (cuban on sweetbread), croqueta sandwich. From the dessert menu: chocolate cake, and rice pudding.

They also stock Presidente, a Dominican beer that's sort of like a richer Corona.

The buttered sweet bread that comes with the meal is delicious, as well.

My absolute obsession at this place is the coffee though. They brew Bustelo and mix it with milk for a rich, sweet latte-style drink called cafe con leche. Or order an espresso shot cut with condensed milk called a cortadito...but beware the caffeine rush on that one. They also have fancier coffee drinks that are dessert-sweet and wonderful!

Flo who works here is really nice and friendly!

Worth a trip for certain! And for a date, check it out on Saturday night, they often have live music with a latin flair.

Shahenshah Diner

I gave this place five stars, because as multicultural diners go, it is the best. Yes, they have an extensive and perhaps mildly confusing menu, but it's all good, so to speak, and some of it is great.

Recommended: anything from the Indian portion of the menu. Chicken Tikka Masala is excellent, and the Chicken Korma is divine. If you enjoy the blend of sweet and spicy test out the korma with a peshwari naan...delicous coconutty, raisiny goodness with a perfect heat if you order medium spice.

From the Greek/Mediterranean menu: the hummus was good, and the grapeleaves were pretty nice as well...but I'm spoiled by my boyfriend's mother's grapeleaves so nothing ever really compares. Baklava is also good, but they don't make it there, it's delivered from elsewhere.

Go with an appetite, a friend, or expect to leave with a takeout box.  Portions are large enough to split, especially if you order an app or a side. On weekdays, they have a buffet. I have beef with buffets in general but I have perused theirs and they have a nice bit of everything represented, and the spread rotates daily. Fridays are chicken tikka--a bargain because the yoghurt-marinated meats cost more ordered a la carte.

Decor is cute and a little eclectic. There are private nooks and hookahs, not sure how their rental system works.

Deepak and the others are very kind and polite. Service is prompt, attentive and friendly. Check it out!

Fun and different scene!  As I recall, free candlestick bowling Monday nights while you drink.  The place is cool on the inside (maybe too cool for me), and kinda retro-mod.  Whatever you do, be polite to the hipsters. The jeans are tight because they choose for them to be.

Just joking. But anyway...

The beer's pricey (not compared to other bars in Boston, but compared to a college kid's budget). But the bowling's free so save up a few bucks and venture on over!

This place gets four stars. One for atmosphere, one for a good (and mixed) crowd, one for variety (the front bar's a relaxed hangout, the back has a dancefloor) and one for a delicious post-St. Patty's day meal.  This was just around the corner from my boyfriend's apartment and I've never not had fun here, and I've also never felt claustrophobic the way it sometimes gets in other Fenway/Kenmore bars.

Clery's is the place to be if you want to get rubbed up on by some investment bankers on the basement's seemingly make-shift, suspiciously sticky dancefloor.

Upstairs is nice and maybe even classy. Perhaps it's the kind of place to which the sunshine lends a little character. I might go back someday for an afternoon gathering with friends, but at night, it's kind of a drunken yuppie mess.

This bar was where I went on one of my first dates with my boyfriend!

The drinks were well-mixed (no watered-down, tasteless cocktails) and the five-dollar cover seemed reasonable  once we heard the band inside.  I was enamored when I heard a reggae cover of a Warren Zevon song.  The crowd seemed eclectic, from my fellow collegiates to a man easily in his seventies cutting a rug on the dancefloor.   I've only been here once but it was rather unforgettable and, given the opportunity, I'd go back!

Sweet Magnolia's Deli

This is a lovely little deli for a sitdown lunch. It's a short drive from work and thusly a popular Friday lunch treat.  The menu is full of tasty sandwiches and salads (my usual is chicken salad-adding cukes and sprouts-with spinach madeline soup [a creamy, spicy chicken-broth based soup with plenty of the titular spinach]).

But the true standout at this place isn't on the menu, it's on the dessert tray!  At the end of your meal, your waitress will wave the tray under your nose. It's jam-packed with cakes and confections, the shining star of which, I feel, is the key-lime pie.  Rich, dense, creamy-sweet and tart all at once, it's truly addictive.

Make sure you bring cash or a checkbook as Sweet Mag's only takes these forms of payment. There's an ATM by the register in case you forget to do so.  Oh, and plan to withdraw a little more than you expect from that machine - the missing star is because you'll pay a sweet little price at this sweet little diner.  Nothing outrageous, but although I frequent the place, it's always a little more than I expected...

I highly recommend giving adorable off-the-beaten path deli a shot. Enjoy!

I lived in PC for 8 months before a native at work clued me and my friends into this place.

Hailing from New England, I'm spoiled by good delis.  I didn't think there was one around here until this place!

Sandwiches are wonderful with fillings helped generously onto unbelievably soft breads. Sandwiches can be upgraded to meals with chips, a pickle (wonderfully crispy dill), and a fountain drink.  But the real star of this deli is its prepared entrees and sides.  Lasagna, mac and cheese, and casseroles are staples, with other entrees and sides rotating through the menu as well.  You can get them heated for now or take some home for later.

Someone in the owner's family or circle of friends cooks Greek food, so the obligatory grapeleaves and baklava are often available. There are also pies, cakes, brownies, cookies, and puddings in a tempting dessert case.

Oh, and I almost forgot, their deli salads AMAZE.  St. Claires Loaded Baked Potato Salad is heaven in a styrofoam cup.

Go here, you won't be disappointed! Unless, of course, you hate delicious delis... ;-)
