I had the salmon, plain pan fried with broccoli leaves... way too salty for my taste.
The chicken parm was ok.
Passing grade, but I think I'd pass.

I think if this place was anywhere other than the North End, it would get another star, but given how many great restaurant there are in that neighborhood, I say skip it.

Definitely a big hit and miss place... a few things are fantastic, others leaves a lot to be desired.

Bacon Wrapped Shrimp (appetizer) - 5... oh my gosh, out of this world
In short, I CAN NOT whole heartedly recommend this place, but it's decent, and if you find yourself there, definitely have some bacon wrapped shrimp!
So good, in fact, that I can not wait to go back... over and over and over again.
I highly highly highly recommend the vegitarian pho... it's probably the very best vegitarian pho I've ever had in the United States (and England and Australia, for that matter)... full of yummy goodness and a lot of variety of veggies.
Also highly highly highly recommend the chicken vietmese sandwich, which is utterly out of this world.
May be the other dishes on the menu are not so great, but these two things have never led me astray.
Lebanese foods of my memory are well seasoned, full of complex mixtures of tastes... grilled meats, full of juicey flavors. That is not what you're gonna get at Me Jana.
The Cons: I had the gambe and chicken shwarma, both of which seriously lacked flavor. In fact, the shwarma are mashed baked chicken comes grilled inside a pita pastry... totally NOT anything like I've ever seen or experienced.
The service was subpar. Our waitress seemed like she couldn't wait to get the f*** out of there, and the other water/bread/bus boys seemed to frown with confusion when we asked for things like extra bread or water.
For the price you pay, you definitely don't get enough food. After spending $65, I left hungry. Not a happy bunny.
On the neutral side: the thyme fries were crispy and of the shoestring variety, and unless you like thyme, I would not order it since the fries were completely covered.
On the plus side: the best pita bread east of the Mississippi, and the apparent owner was working the table (although dressed in only shorts and t-shirt).
Who knows, may be it was an off night, but it does not inspire another visit.

Dolce Vita Ristorante
Category: Italian
Neighborhood: North End
We had the shrimp scampi appetizer, calamari and various seafood specials, but at least two of us felt disappointed by the meals. The scampi was okay, and the calamari sauce had a pasty flavor and almost no taste.
My halibut special came in a marsala sauce and spinach. Mental note, marsala and halibut does not mix, and the spinach is tart.
I was very tempted to throw in an extra star because the owner personally took care of the impossible parking situation (North-End is impossible to park and this place has no Valet). However, the atmosphere is chaotic, and the noise level made it difficult to talk. We had a party of 6, and a tip of 20% (rounded up slightly) was automatically added. The bill totaled $450.
Granted, the great gang of people I went with made the meal memorable, but I'm unlikely to head back unless coerced.

Sushi is fresh, the chow-mein too salty, but also too yummy. The egg plant in garlic sauce is delicious.
The place is a little bit ghetto fabulous (minus the fabulous) and the staff is bit FOB, but super super nice. I wanted a little white rice with my left over eggplant and they sent me home with a small heaping - no extra charge. That's very un-asian (usually asian cafe are staffed with really unfriendly people).
That uncharacteristic behavior combined with the yummy goodness makes me want to go back again for lunch tomorrow... eventhough I just had dinner there today. May be I'll even go back for dinner again.
Thumb(s) up... the number of which is in debate, but the key thing is that it's up. Try it.

Prior to this unfortunate discovery, I also sent them a pair of slippers to repair, which they did okay, but the stitching was really bad... looked like something I would do.
Which leads me to the unfortunate conclusion that I must retract my last review.
I probably wouldn't go back. Hope no one was misguided in the short time between that review and this one.

The first time I walked in, I was a little dubious of this place. The interior is a little ghetto and run down, and I was afraid that it was a reflection of the quality of work. However, as it is the closest thing to work, I figured it doesn't hurt to give it a try.
I was pleasantly surprised by the finished product. The press on my work pants seems great, and they even fixed a rip in my zipper. Really good service, reasonably priced, fast turn around... with a courteous (but chatty) attendant.
I will continue to go back.

Virginia Beach Rock Gym
Categories: Amusement Parks, Gyms, Sporting Goods
It really is the ghetto-est gym I've ever been in, but it's far from the most poorly ran.
[A side note: "ghetto" is not used as a negative term... at least not for dirt-baggers who live out of their trucks, sleep on a hanging belay and don't shower for days for the love of climbing].
I've climbed, ran and consulted for gyms all over the world... that's hardly news worthy, but it does means I can be very objective about what you're getting if you're moving (or visiting) from other cities. Relatively speaking, this one is far from great and it's frankly too lax operationally, but it's not hopeless. It's perfectly acceptable as a your only climbing option.
It's climbable, there aren't obscene safety hazards, and they even let you lead with your own draws on the main wall... definitely not anything I've ever seen, but that's kinda cool.
As for the heat... there isn't much to speak of, but you won't get heat outside, so it's good training for shitty weather associated with east coast winter climbing. Although it doesn't really seem worth being miserable if you're not on a real rock.
Since it lacks competition, I say go... better get some exercise than not. At least the staff is friendly and funny, although not sure about the other climbers.

The wax was more painful than usual, but it could be because I haven't had a waxing in a long time, so who knows, but if I find myself in Boston again and in need of waxing, I would certainly go again.
