Pretty decent.  Everything is labeled if it is vegan or vegetarian, and they have a build-your-own thing which I thought was good.  Not traditional, but the heat on the vindaloo is definitely at levels appropriate for the subcontinent.  Definitely should be in your lunch rotation if you work in the area.

Tasty ramen, friendly staff.

I'm not 100% the ramen is vegan.  After reading david g.'s review saying that the tofu mushroom ramen has bonito flakes (despite being marked vegetarian on the menu), I called the restaurant to be sure.  At first the guy said it did have fish in it, but then he consulted someone else and said that this soup does not have fish in it and is vegan.

Perhaps it used to have fish and lo longer does.  Perhaps I just ate fish.  I didn't taste it, and I've made more than a few menu misteaks with bonito before, so I had some chance.

Other than that, nice chewy noodles and great vegetables.  And a lot of them, even at $14 a bowl.  The Kabocha Squash Bincho appetizer was a little small for the price ($4), especially compared to the chicken one.  Service was a little off:  Some of us got food over five minutes after others at the table.

Not as good as seeing all these animals in the wild, but it's nice to see some animals as they are recovering or that would otherwise not survive in the wild.  Also, a good choice if you feel weird going to zoos but like seeing animals.  It's free too, but they need donations to keep running.

They have small birds, reptiles, and amphibians inside, and larger animals outside.  When I went a staffmember was walking around with a screech owl on her arm that had lost an eye, so you can see them up close sometimes.  The sandhill cranes were very friendly, and came up to investigate as soon as we stopped over.  We saw a milk snake eating, but that's not a sight for everyone to enjoy.

They also have an wild animal clinic here, so if you find an injured animal you can contact them for help.

Great food and nice atmosphere.  Something to look at every direction you look.  Tropical drinks in tiki mugs and Hawai'ian music gently playing in the background.  You can even feed the koi/goldfish in the fountain.  The veggie section is big and everything the table tried was excellent.  Plus they deliver to a wide area (like to Oak Park) for $3.50.

Only negative was that the drink menu doesn't have prices.  But at the display of mugs, it says the mugs are $13.50, or with a drink it's $20.  However this may be just for the restaurant part and not the bar side.

A great place for vegans.  A separate seitan menu with three kinds of Upton's (chicken-style, regular style, and chorizo).  They have vegan cheese as well, but no vegan sour cream (yet?).  Staff is super friendly.  Dining area is spacious and spotless.  And all this at a good price with chips and two kinds of salsa.

Another great place to see animals.  Housed on the Elawa Farm and near a number of walking trails, the WDC has many reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals.  Some are being rehabilitated or unable to survive in the wild.  Some are here for study:  Rob Carmichael, who runs the WDC has published a few scientific articles on reptiles.  I think they also milk the poisonous reptiles to provide for antivenoms and other medicinal uses.  Other animals are here for conservation or as parts of breeding programs.  So while not the same as seeing these animals in the wild, it's a good way to see some cool animals, especially if you have any issues with zoos.

Plus it's free, but donations are always welcome.

A nice way to experience a slice of the natural world.  While the Trailside Museum no longer accepts injured wildlife for rehabilitation, the animals they do have are unable to be returned to the wild.  So if you have qualms about supporting a zoo, this is a good way to see some animals up close.  Plus it's free.

There is a little space inside with some small animals and a few things to occupy little ones, so a good option on rainy/snowy days.  Especially for storytime and other programs.  They also have changing tables for those aforementioned little ones.

Plenty of trails around here as one would guess from the name.  Also a small pond with turtles and apparently fish from the common sight of anglers.

You can park in the lot on Chicago, or in a few street spots on Thatcher.

It's hard not to like a brewpub.  But HPB is likeable above and beyond that.  The beer is vegan, for those who care.  They also have a few vegan entrées on the menu: a burger and chili.  The burger was beets, oats, and black beans, in that order.  It was not super cohesive, but I thought the taste was excellent.  I assumed the sweet potato tots are vegan, and the fries, and they were good as well.

Service was a little off.  Granted I went on a busy night, but you had to chase after the waitstaff to get their attention after they dropped off your drinks and you wanted to order.
