The problem here was that there was too much to choose from. At times like this I wish I had an expandable stomach - seriously, how else am I going to try all the good food?!

I settled on an old classic - whole wheat spaghetti. It was the only sure way of determining if I'd be back (you do a classic right and I'll be back, right?). Well, I wasn't disappointed in the least - loaded with extra veggies and marinara sauce, the spaghetti was absolutely delectable.

My friends ordered the Mixed Grill (where you get a little of everything) and the Gnocchi and they couldn't stop raving either! Apparently, we'll be back!

Ciao Wine Bar

I admit that I haven't tried ALL the italian restaurants in Toronto... but of the ones that I have tried, Ciao has been the place that I've gone to multiple times.

Why? Let me count the ways:
1. Reserved table is always ready
2. Amazing service
3. Fabulous Wine Selection
4. The patio feels so European in the Summer
5. The portions are huge!
6. The quality and taste of the food is amaze
7. It's in Yorkville - the perfect locale for a quaint after dinner walk
8. The olives with the bread - delish!

I feel like there's probably a lot more reasons - but I also feel like this is enough to make you want to check it out for yourself!

ps. Be sure to order the Mushroom Risotto - it's divine!!

Finch's Tea & Coffee House

I'm appalled. Not by Finch's - but by the mere fact that I work in the area and have NEVER been to Finch's!! I've been missing out on so much!!

Now that I got that outta my system...

When you step into Finch's, it's like you stepped into 18th Century Paris (ok, maybe not really - but that's what it feels like to me). The menu's on written on different sized chalkboards with gold frames, the tables are scattered about and very vintagey feeling... and the most important part? The food. Oh - the - food. I'm one of those people who thinks that a baguette isn't gonna ever cut it for lunch... well, Finch's just proved me wrong. It was simply delectable (and breathtaking to look at!) with avocado (lots of avocado), cucumber, tomato, lettuce, some sort of dijon sauce - and the most perfect amount of salt and pepper (yes, i'm raving about the salt and pepper!).

I'll definitely be back for a whimsical lunch escape! Yes - even if it's just for the salt and pepper.

We headed here for a late night dessert and coffee fix taking a suggestion of the server from the restaurant we had dinner at (crazy, I know!)... but it was truly fabulous!

The decor and atmosphere was absolutely stunning - it was unlike any other restaurant I've seen (almost like it was a house first before it became Wish). The service was fantastic! She suggested we try the Chocolate Ganache Brownie with homemade raspberry compote. And WOW - I "WISH" this could be a daily indulgence! It was so delicious that the table next to us ordered it too - saying we were their inspiration!

On a side note: the food menu looked pretty delectable, so we'll be back!

Fire on the East Side

It was a frigid Friday night - one of those nights where any restaurant with the name "fire" in it would beckon you closer.

Fire on the East Side does NOT disappoint. Where do all the plus points come from? Here is my list:
1. It was warm and we cozied into a booth
2. The service was AH-MAZING. Our server was so attentive, made fabulous wine suggestions and was always there when we had a question or needed something (like hot sauce!) - and we were able to customize a few dishes to make them veggie friendly to work for us!
3. The food was finger licking great! (Not that I ate with my hands or anything)
4. When we didn't see anything on the dessert menu that tickled our fancy, our server made a suggestion for a place nearby that we would probably like (And we tried it out and it was fab - review up next!) ;)

If you haven't already, call them up and makes reservations!! Go!!

I was SO SO SO SO EXCITED to try this place. It was my suggestion for a Friday night out, and everyone was game! We got reservations for 8:30pm (btw - the waitress on the phone was amazing!)... and then it took a little nosedive (for me, anyway).

As a vegetarian, it didn't strike me to maybe check out the menu THOROUGHLY beforehand. There's always vegetarian options, right? RIGHT. Well... while there were some vegetarian options, I found that what I ordered (the vegetarian fesenjaan) was really not for me. It was an amalgamation of mushrooms (liking this so far) doused in syrups (Aye! not for a main dish - nooooooo!). It was extremely sweet and kind of made me gag. I finished the rice plain and kept ordering bread - because if all else fails, carbs are your friends.

On a brighter note, my meat eating friends were licking their plates clean! Yup - so verdict: TRY IT if you eat meat :) and eat before if you have to go and you're a vegetarian!

And on a non-food related note: the decor was amazing - authentic, colorful and just really ethnic.

It's pretty much across the street from my Toronto office... yup, it's dangerous BUT it's also a fabulous alternative to the Starbucks that's across the street!

The americanos are earthy and rich - and oh so delicious that you don't even need to add any dairy (of course they don't have dairy free options, but I suppose that's irrelevant)... Although I hear if there's enough demand, they'll start to carry almond milk (*fingers crossed for my next Toronto business trip!*).

The ambiance is eclectic but welcoming - although the girl behind the counter was on the phone when I walked in and continued to be on the phone for about 3 more minutes before taking my order.

One last note: the pastries and food look delish (didn't try any though)... I was hoping to stumble across banana bread (my new addiction), but alas no. Oh, and they have a back wall filled with homemade jam in every possible flavor combination you could think of! Yum!

I've been here a couple times now... and really, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to order anything EXCEPT the egg-chilada! It's magically delicious with the kick of jalapenos and salsa... and the potatoes - oh the potatoes :)

Egg-spectations is such a large space too, that it's great to have a group there - and no, they don't take reservations, but I was there on Saturday morning with a group of 10 people and we only waited 15 minutes (no too shabby!).

On a side note: I know that the usual beverage of choice at brunch is coffee - but you REALLY have to try the orange juice. Really. It's AMAZING.

Forget Monday Blues - it was all PINK and absolutely fantastic!

The night was fabulous :) A BIG thank you to our lovely host, Cyndi and special guest, Crystal!!

Jeff and the gang at Yew at the Four Seasons were so spectacular in making sure everyone's drinks were always topped off, and the food was a'flowing. Everything from "exclusive" Mission Hills Rose Wine (doesn't hit the market for another 2 months!) to truffle mac and cheese, oysters, duck confit, and wow, wow, wow, the list really does go on!

Definitely a GREAT way to start the week!

I don't understand WHY I hadn't been here until now! Really... I don't.

It's veggie friendly - check!
It's mexican - check!
it's cheap - check!
it's delicious - check!

Do you see a problem? Other than this could become an addiction, not at all.

I recommend the hibiscus lemonade - it's pretty spectacular, and the burritos are massive - think 1 burrito = 2 meals. The Ronny Russell burrito is pretty amazing - an unlikely combination of guac, yams, rice and more, but they really make it work!

I also tried some of the "mole" sauce (not like what it sounds)... and well, as much as people have been raving about the sauce, I wasn't necessarily impressed. It was super sweet and nutty - all in all, not really a dinner flavor for my palette.

I've also heard that the tortilla soup is to die for - but seriously, how much can a girl eat in one sitting?! No worries though, it's on my list for next time!
