A truly historic address and a great tourist destination even if you merely stand on the sidewalk in front and ponder the legacy of Harvey Milk, the legendary figure of the gay civil rights movement who once lived and worked at this address.

The storefront is currently home to the Human Rights Campaign store. And I am also proud to say that my short documentary, "575 Castro St." is playing on a continual loop inside the store -- giving you the opportunity to see shots of the empty set of Gus Van Sant's Academy Award winning bio-pic, MILK. As well as showcasing the haunting original recording of Harvey Milk describing his wishes in the event of his assassination.

CAV is so much more than just a wine bar. I am not usually that attentive to the topic of chefs but the new guy at CAV is amazing. On our last visit I sampled a bite from the plates of my fellow diners (that's what it's like going out for dinner with me) and all the main dishes were absolutely delicious: the chicken, the pork, the ribs and the fish. I am also a big fan of the beet salad appetizer and the brussels sprouts side! Now, the name-droppy moment: the new CAV chef's name is John Maher and he used to be at The French Laundry.

In addition to being a terrific chiropractor who manages to effectively treat my various spine and back pain every time I see her, Barbara's vast skills also extend to giving me informed guidance on other random ailments in my life. She recently helped me get my bad breath under control after years of other failed treatments (did I just confess to thousands of people that I have bad breath?). Well, I don't any longer so there! Thanks Barbara!
