This is one of those places I keep forgetting about- perhaps because it's very inconspicuous and its neighbors are girlie bars- I don't know. I hear stories that begin "One night, drunk at Tommaso's..." or, "They were both at Tommaso's..." "He saw me, as usual on Thursdays, at Tommaso's..." it's one of those local haunts that never get called that, because it's so ingrained, we don't talk about it. And because of that, perhaps, it doesn't leap to mind.A few times I made a point of it and dragged guests, but it was closed. They are always afraid it's closed, with those big dark doors. OK, so it's great, as all the 10000 reviews here say, and the ravioli is superb, but be warned, there are lots of tourists, and locals, which can be a fatal combination.

I have to admit I didn't read all 457 reviews of this place. I'm just chiming in, as a local North Beacher and one who is very skeptical of new Italian restaurants in this neighborhood, Tony's is great. The problem: the crowd. So I go in off hours, and lately I've been mostly impressed with the fig pizza- the special Foodie one. Anyways, I bow to the 457 reviewers here. Pretty intense. Let's hope Tony's stays consistent & good!

So much to say, yet can't say it all. Wait, there's a musical about this bar! How much cooler can that be? Saw a theremin-esque band there last night, as well as Sean Penn and some random D-List star. It's mostly just a great place to sit in a booth and enjoy a good cocktail.

I go down to Monterey a lot, from SF, and I always stop here on my way into town. Checkout the locally fished varieties, and the recommendations from the staff for preparation are always right on. I've never eaten in, mostly just buy the fish and prepare myself. Great selection, great staff, great fish. Good prices, too.

I really had forgotten what good sandwiches were like. Friend who works nearby has taken me there twice- my first love, "ole school" had me with "sliced rye." Seriously yummy sandwiches. Conscientiously made, if that makes sense. A place not to miss.

I had bookworm today, and remembered why I love chicken and mushrooms together. If you want a filling savory lunch, this is the place. Part of me wonders why we've been settling for less for so long.

I'm so glad Jason opened a spot in North Beach. I love beer, and this kind of spot in the heart of North Beach, with quickly rotating beer menu and a nice laid back atmosphere, is just what the doctor ordered. Yay!

I love my building- what can I say? It's a quiet oasis in a great neighborhood. The garden atrium area- not just an air shaft- and the nice patios and roof. I've been here for 5 years and very happy with my decision to buy here. I am on the HOA (3 years maybe?) and find it functional and gets the job done.

North Beach, of course, is amazing.
