Not a bad little nail place! This is no spa, but if you need a quick manicure for $15 CAN, this isn't the worst you could do!

I think this place is great (and also totally adorable!). Everyone there was extremely friendly, and took my desire for a very gentle pedicure to heart. The atmosphere is soothing and quiet, and very comfortable. A little bit like being in your crazy aunt's house, but I'm ok with that.

No, seriously. This place has some amazing pizza, and it's worth every minute of the wait time (and hey, they'll let you order some wine while you're waiting outside, so that's ok in my book!). The special pizzas are always my favorite, and they come up with some pretty thoughful and creative combinations. The staff here is also very, very nice. The Salsiccia is one of my default pizzas now, I could probably eat that every day.

This isn't my favorite deep dish place in the city (that goes to Patxi's) but you really can't go wrong with a pizza loaded with cheese and sauce, can you?

I'm sad that I can almost never get a table here, which is kind of the reason we stopped trying. The Little Star and the Classic are my two favorite pies here, and their garlic bread is also pretty damn good. The atmosphere in the Divis location is a little bit too crowded for my tastes, which is probably one of the reasons it's always hard to find a table.

Service takes a really long time on busy nights, but what do you expect with deep dish? Maybe try ordering it ahead and picking it up if you don't feel like waiting around!

Patxi's Chicago Pizza

I have never been to Chicago, so I am not the most equipped to judge "Chicago" style pizza (and I'm pretty sure a few trips to my local Unos Pizzeria when I was a kid don't count). However, I know that when I visit Patxi's, or when I order delivery from home, I'm always in for an awesome piece of pie.

I've never had the thin crust (why bother?), but usually stick with the "Stuffed" or "Pan" pizza options. I love the Pan because of the cornmeal crust, which is a really nice addition.

The staff has always been super nice, and my favorite pizza to get is the Spinach-Pesto. I usually order a garden salad as well, because that makes me feel like less of a fat ass.

Always happy to welcome a new pizza place into the hood!

I'll start by agreeing with all the comments about the wine pours being very small. I was surprised to see how little was poured into my glass, and almost asked about it (but I didn't want the waitress to think I was a lush). It's nice to see I'm not alone (either that, or we're all lushes... huh). But I usually have a glass of wine when I'm out, and I've never had that feeling of being shortchanged before. The wine was good though!

As for the pizza, it was very good. We had the margherita, and I enjoyed it. However, it was the first time in my life that adding an egg on top of a pizza didn't improve it... I'll probably go without next time. Made the center way too soggy, but that usually isn't an issue with most pizzas.

There will always be some growing pains, and I look forward to coming back again.

Mad Dog in the Fog

What the hell happened to this place? Are they under new ownership? This is not the Mad Dog I once knew.

Maybe it's more profitable to blast dance music and get rid of the board games, but the last chill neighborhood bar is now dead. They'd been making improvements to the place for a long time now, and some of them weren't bad (the new tables and seating areas are comfy!) but now it's so crowded, even during the week, that you won't be able to sit there anyway.

So, good for you Mad Dog. I'm glad the place is making you some money, but I'm sad that you lost your soul along the way.

You can't beat this place for views! Unless, of course, there's a giant tree blocking your view of the Golden Gate Bridge out your window. Oh well.

We stayed in the contemporary room, and they were very nice and comfortable -- no complaints there. There are a lot of fun activities for guests, including cooking classes and hikes, all of which is complementary for people staying at the hotel. Even morning yoga!

This seems like a great place to relax, but if you're looking for a quiet experience, you might want to go elsewhere... there are kids EVERYWHERE. It's like summer camp. I don't know what was going on that weekend we were there, but the kids seemed to outnumber the adult guests. If you were hoping to sit by the fire pit with a glass of wine at 5pm, you'll have to fight for space with the toddlers.

We took a hike up to the Marin Headlands, and it was beautiful. I'm not sure if I'll be back to the Lodge again, but I'm happy I spent some time away from the city without having to drive for a few hours.

I had dinner and brunch here, and both were excellent experiences.

For dinner I had the seven course chef tasting menu, and it was pretty exceptional. They also gave us two amuse bouche, so I guess it was more like nine courses for me! There wasn't a dish that I didn't enjoy, so I would consider that a success.

Brunch was also very good, although our potato cakes could have been a little warmer and served with a dip or a sauce of some kind (the waiter seems surprised when we asked for sour cream). I had the french toast with pears and apples, and it was very tasty.

I'm somewhat surprised by all the negative reviews! Don't let it stop you from visiting this excellent restaurant with the extraordinary location and views. Great for a special occasion!

Had a really great dinner here! I mean, you can't go too wrong with melted cheese.

We had the Traditional and the Outlaw (which was by far the table favorite). For dessert we had the dark chocolate and cayenne (the Happy Trails). Service was quick and very friendly. Loved the atmosphere too!
