SuperShuttle

I sent the following to Super Shuttle today after having the misfortune of waiting an hour for a shared van. Next time, I'll take a taxi for all the time wasted.

Dear Joshua:

I am so disappointed in the improper expectations set up for me upon my second leg of a round trip reservation I made 2 weeks prior to my departure. As I spoke with your customer service representative early Wednesday morning, we both deduced that making a reservation from airport to your desired destination is completely pointless. There is no system in place to make the lofty guarantees your representative made to me concerning the "half hour or less" wait time I would have to endure. A half hour turns into an hour and you have more than dissatisfied me. The system is broken. I do not believe it is beyond repair and it is appalling to me to get into a van where someone who has been waiting for less than 10 minutes has been accommodated before me, someone with a reservation, someone who waited an hour!

This is not the first time I've had to endure long wait times with your company and I assure you I do not intend to remain a customer for as long as it is avoidable. I am not in the business of having my time wasted and I will never recommend your company as long as the transportation from airport to residence remains in such a disarray. Keep my money, I was a fool to provide it to you again time and expect an improvement in service. In the end, I've found that more than anything I am disappointed in myself.

Thank you for taking the time to call and follow up via email. Have a nice day.

-Lauren Smith

Save yourself the trouble. Don't make a reservation. Hail a cab, Dial 7s, walk, build a time machine and teleport.

You're not going to find a better, classier brunch for a large group of a folks. Essex is gorgeous, has loads of natural light and makes the ugliest of hangovers look good. They're notorious for not paying much attention to that 3 cocktails with brunch rule.

I like their Bialys a lot and the mimosas are hit or miss. I'd go with the screwdrivers.

Haven't been here for any other meal. If you're planning to get a large group together make a res with a bunch of not flaky friends who have a penchant for showing up on time and you'll have a delightful time. If you can, get seated upstairs. You'll have to traverse the stairs to get to the bathroom but it's away from all the noise of hungry diners waiting to be seated.

If your group takes too long, they coax you out with drink tickets. So yeah...there's that.

Happy dining.

Yummy cappucinos sold here.

I came here one evening with a young gentleman caller. It's a good place to hang out while you wait for Bolt Bus or MegaBus to depart. Just a short walk to or from the parking lot at H St & 10 NW.

A clean cafe and sweet DC hipster staff makes for a quality experience. And if you're into it the baristas do that super cute coffee art.

If I wanted tofu, I would've asked for tofu. Soy, even when refrigerated can only last for so long. That length of time had passed by the time I asked for my iced soy mate latte.

Other than that, I love the atmosphere and the digital menu. I was just looking for a quiet place to catch up with a girlfriend and I got that for sure. The staff had a meeting in the back near the community table where we sat. This made it difficult to access the facilities.

However, an above average customer service experience was had. The barista even signed me up for the rewards card since I don't work too far away from this location.

Good music in here too. So in true Lauren fashion, just don't get what I had.

I've lived here for 4 years and recently had my first Levain experience. Don't judge. I'm a busy girl. But I found myself on this side of town the other day and now everybody can relax because I popped my freaking cherry. It was one of those kinds of days and well, what better way to go down the emotional eating spiral I figure than to spend an obscene amount of money on a cookie?

Yes, I did have the dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie for dinner, and so can you.

I avoided going back for a really long time but then someone brought Five Guys into the break room and shared Cajun Fries and it smelled so good that I had to have one. Even though the last time I had them I thought it tasted like dirt, these were perfectly seasoned. Now I'm a convert. Still prefer In 'N' Out but this'll do for now.

Grilled Cheese 'All The Way' and Cajun Fries.

It's just how I like it done.

If you're going to the DMV you prepare for the worst. It's just common knowledge.

There were rambunctious children, teenagers, and government employees with nasty attitudes. But it didn't take as long as I thought, and even though the website information is only formatted for PDF viewing, I brought everything I needed. My main beef is that the documents that the DMV requires are not listed anywhere else except for the website so how are you supposed to know what to have ready when you get to the window? This is mostly to say that I did not appreciate being put on blast by angry teller number 2 when I didn't have my social security card in my hand for her to verify causing her to have to wait all of 12.3 seconds for me to retrieve it from my wallet.

Other than that, I wish there were nicer seats in the waiting area. What's with the church pews?

Best practices: Go early. Like when they open. Fill your paperwork out while standing in line. HAVE ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS IN YOUR HAND! (I'm only yelling at you now so you don't get yelled at later.)

This Whole Foods is great!

I love the do-it-yourself bulk food section. It's where I practice my weighing skills. And if I ever find myself jobless again, I can add this to my resume. Job training while you shop?! Yes, they did!

I love the vacuum-packed seafood and walking through Whole Body is such a treat because it smells sooooo delicious over there.

I don't think I'll ever understand why the organic and conventional frozen broccoli florets come in the same weight and same price. Or why there are so many crying babies and screaming children on Monday mornings. But I love getting my food here regardless.

Make sure to stop by the cafe. Cute boys working behind the counter of course. And every morning from 8AM to 11:30A there's breakfast by the pound for $3 less than the rest of the by the pound stuff. Got to have the Cream Cheese Biscuits!

One of my friends found this on yelp. Can't complain too much when they've got Brooklyn Lager on tap. Felt kind of ignored by the bartender though. Wish she could've joined in our rousing game of martian numbers. Really enjoyed the live music that sounded more Irish than Scottish to me. Good place to meet up with my homies after work. But certainly not a place to see and be seen. There are much better bars in town. My advice in general is just steer clear of Times Square if you can help it.

The waiters wear kilts. Next time I'm lifting one of those suckers up.
