Infested with hipsters. The hipster-i-est hipsters that ever hipped. I'm talking handle bar mustaches and men's pink sequin hats everywhere.

Little Star Pizza
Category: Pizza
Neighborhood: Mission
The pizza option in SF suck. Little Star is the best in the city and it's deep dish!!! Sadly it is "fancy pizza," so you will pay an arm and a leg for it. They accordingly do not deliver but you can do pick up. Honestly with the prices you pay go in and enjoy the restaurant. Its not a pizza joint, its a clean, slightly sophisticated eatery (for Mission standards-i.e. red wine instead of PBR). Wine and anti-pasta options are very good. Prepare yourself for long waits on the weekends.
Pizza. Bland but good. Nothing special. In other cities this place would get 2 or 2.5 stars but SF has very few pizza options.

The Phoenix Bar & Irish Gathering House
Categories: Pubs, Sports Bars, Irish
Neighborhood: Mission
The perfect intermission to your night. The Phoenix is is nothing special, but it serves a purpose. It's location, menu and seating makes it the ideal spot to drop in for an hour in the middle of you night out. Eat some moderately priced bar food, enjoy a beer from there above average beer selection (draft beer options are harder to find in the mission) and then shove off to a different venue.

"It's like there's a party in my mouth and everyone is throwing up." My reaction to a house special-one of the old time cocktails from the 1920's. I applaud their large menu but there is a reason some beverages aren't popular anymore. Because of their vast selection it's tempting to try exotic things, but play it safe and ask the bar tender for advice-he knows his stuff.
Overall a swanky place with an impressive bar. The 1920's decor is entertaining although the "password" at the door bit is a little hokey for me. You definitely go for the experience, take your time, sip your drinks. It's fun, young and sophisticated but not too "officey" or douchebaggy. Still it was a little bit pretentious at times but that comes with the territory. This is fun place to go once in awhile when you have the time and money sto spend.

ATTENTION WOMEN: Join this gym! This gold's is entirely made up of gay men. It's counterintuitive, but trust me! Because it's all gay males the women's facilities are immaculate, great dance music all the time, and no there are NO creepy guys looking at you EVER. The men never bother you and they are all clean and generally gorgeous. The boys do cruise each other but I've never felt uncomfortable-I think anything inappropriate happens in the men's sauna-which I never see. As for the woman's sauna, haha, its great! In an whole year I never saw another person in it. I had my own personal steam room!
This gold's seems better maintained then the other ones, constantly being cleaned and has two sets of everything. Some parking but its usually full and you have to circle the neighborhood for a few minutes.
What can I say, this place is FABULOUS and only $30 bucks a month! It isn't a huge gym and it isn't the nicest, but for its location and price it's the best you are going to get.

Avoid the ones by the BART stations
Get the footlong ones!
The guy on Mission by the bankof america on 23rd has the best ones but he packs it in earlier than the other carts. He's gone as early as 12 or 1 sometimes.

Ah the Lex. The place we love to hate. It's small, dirty, cramped, and frequented by cliquey groups of unfriendly girls. But its essentially the only full time dyke bar in the city. Wild Side West is a thousand times better but is inaccessible. So we all bitch and moan about the Lex but we keep going back. Drinks aren't expensive but def not cheap in terms of the Mission. I just wish people were more friendly! Most of the bartenders are cold, unfriendly and sometimes outright rude. One of the newer bartenders is polite and the hipster girl who works the door is always very nice. But the veteran bartenders her irk me.

Wonderful SF bar! Its great as long as you can score a table upstairs. Some of the best people watching in the city if you manage to sit by the huge windows. Everytime I go I get to watch street performers in the alley adjacent to the bar, dramatic fights between quarreling couples, and slap stick comedy care of the drunks coming out of the strip clubs down the street. This place is just dripping with ambience and charm that is hard to define. Just go check it out! And popin out City Lights bookstore next door if you have time.
