Until now. Heck, I'm still smiling after rediscovering the bagel that nearly kept me in SF. It was as crustychewy as I remember, with the perfect amount (nottoomuch/nottoolittle) of schmear.
I will be back. And this time I'll be taking a few dozen home with me.

Nicely varied menu if you're looking for lunch - soup, salads and sandwiches all with inventive ingredients (no boring tuna salad here!). As one would expect at the Ferry Building!

For a quick snack, this place was fabulous on a Sunday. Moderate line, a selection of sweets for us (brownie for him, scone for me) and they take credit cards, apparently a rarity at the Ferry Building (hence all the ATMs?).
The food looked really tasty, but we'd already had lunch, so no duck rillette for me that time around.

While it had been a looong time (10+ years) since my last meal here, it was memorable enough for me to suggest it this trip. With unusually warm weather, it was the night for outdoor dining in SF. Yes, the entirety of Belden Lane can be considered a zoo of distasteful tourists like myself, but if you're not too much of a food snob and out for a pleasant meal in a place vaguely reminiscent of the Latin Quarter, this is one to consider.
Our food was fine -I got the prix fixe menu, and the mussels were very good, tender and very fresh. The BF, not a seafood fan, ordered the lamb, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't a dried out hunk of meat. He raved about the port reduction sauce. Dessert was meh, but it usually is on French prix fixe menus, so it wasn't a deal breaker for me
Admittedly we are not local foodies who are blase about Cowgirl Creamery cheeses and fresh, well-cooked food. We are bumpkins from the mountains, for whom a meal like this was a pleasant respite from the tacquerias & steakhouses of Tahoe. And for that, I give it 4 stars ( I figure a 5th would really identify me as the yokel I am!)

I love healthy eating, and was intrigued by the lunch menu, which ranged from really different salads (I live in the mountains - kale & lemon is decidedly exotic). The plates that came out all looked so appetizing, and slightly higher end cuisine than the health food I'm accustomed to seeing. My friend is a kale addict, so we had the kale salad and the kale & roast garlic pizza. The salad was terrific, much better than my lame attempts at taming raw lacinato kale.
Our server must have been new (or frazzled) for we never received the 'Andrew Weil' card about the philosophy of the place. The only reason I figured out he was involved was when I saw him sitting not 10 feet from me at a booth across the aisle, chatting amiably with his table mates, in a white apron. Phoenix celebrity sighting!
Overall I really liked the concept of the place, and while one lunch there doesn't give me a full picture, it, more than anything else I experienced in this city, would encourage me to come back to the desert. For someone who loathes temperatures above 70 degrees, that should be considered high praise.

.5 star for the retarded lady who runs the door department in the South Tahoe store. Averaged with my previous review that's about a 2.5 star.
I'm not sure how she does it, but she brings stupidity to a new level. Not only was she unable to transmit correct information to her door building department, but even when my BF drew a picture with the correct dimensions of both the desired door + frame and the space it was going in, she still ordered the wrong size door for our house. Given the expense and time spent on constructing a made to order door you'd think Meeks would want to employ the best and the brightest.
Apparently not in this case. Save yourself a headache and either deal direct with Richard, the door builder, or just shop elsewhere. -

While he'll never admit it, my boyfriend loves this place, and gets a kick out of the fact that the staff now recognize him after his many, many visits there to pick up items related to the never-ending 'enhancement' saga of our house.
We've used this place for everything from paint mixing to sourcing a new snow shovel. It's our local building supply store of choice, primarily because it's 5 minutes from our house, and the only other building supply near us is the Meek's in Meyers. So...yeah. But they're local, they're honest and don't overcharge, and it feels good to shop so close to home.
These guys have learned that service is everything, and as such, I know our household will be ordering parts and bike products here versus any shop that might be closer to our house.

Friendly locals run the place, and while they don't keep milk out at the coffee station - just half & half - they always bring it out when I ask for it. It would be nice to see that and soy milk options out there thought, as it seems inherently un-hippie/Shasta like to only offer half & half.

The fact that the staff were super friendly, funny and helpful was just the icing on the proverbial cake.
