We were surprised to find such a wonderful five star dining experience in Rapid City on our recent vacation to Custer State Park.  This is one of the best dining experience we have had just about anywhere...

This is a local slow food establishment, featuring local produce and meats as well as fine wine.  Everything about this place is done with care and excellence.

My wife and I started off with two excellent appetizers (warning...this is an experience, so quality takes precedent over quantity.)  Our meal proceeded to include Quail for my wife and one of my favorite dishes, Chicken Marsala, for myself.  Both dishes were superb! Desert was a flowerless, to die for, chocolate cake.

Camping on our vacation, we weren't incredibly well dressed, which worried us a bit.  Still the staff took great care of us and made us feel at ease.

They were especially pleased that we enjoyed our experience and encouraged us to speak of them to anyone we know heading their way....which we will do, without hesitation.

My wife sometimes likes to give me a hard time over being so connected via Social Media as I am.  However, she was quite grateful that I had my blackberry with me during our recent vacation to Custer State Park...

We tried the Colonial House based solely on the quality of it's Yelp recommendations.  We not only tried it once, we tried it twice, even three times!  Our two dinners and one breakfast meal were all very delicious and we came away satisfied each time.

The food was well prepared and quite tasty, and the wait staff was very friendly, even recognizing that we had returned for a second night and thanking us for coming back.

If you are vacationing in western South Dakota I would not hesitate to tell you to come here!

My wife and I ate here for the first time over lunch this week.

She had the special entree of the day, which was quite tasty.   I had the fish and chips (king size=two pieces.) It too was very good.

It's a good thing we weren't in a hurry as the service was a little slow, they mixed up our order, and they ran out of ice tea right before we arrived.

Still the food was very good and the atmosphere is pretty cool.  Definitely worth hitting occasionally.

We stopped here, on a recent trip to Davenport, having recalled that we had a wonderful meal the last time we had eaten here a number of years ago.  Our memory served us well and we were not disappointed this time either.

It's not a huge nor incredibly fancy restaurant; it is quite simple and as another review indicated 'nicely appointed.'  The service staff was very friendly, helpful, and efficient.

Both of our entrees along with the appetizer we ordered were very flavorful and were among some of the best food we have had during our dining experiences in Iowa.

My wife and I were in Des Moines for a birthday party.  We stopped here to purchase a bottle of wine for a gift and to grab a bite to eat before heading to our party.

The wine selection seemed decent.  However, I was not as impressed as I am when I go to New Pioneer Co-op in Iowa City, as there didn't seem much of an effort either by staff or by way of signs to help one make a decent wine selection.

The cafe side of things was decent too, though the service was mediocre at best.  For $8 bucks a piece we got an entree and 2 sides.  The food was very flavorful, though I'm sure nothing about what I had was low fat (that's not a big issue for me, but what I am saying is lots of cream and butter here for sure...)

All around a pretty good, but not exceptional, experience.

Hot Harry's Burritos

I think this place is a bit better than Pancheros, but certainly not as good as Chipotle (which we don't have in CR.)

I went for lunch and ordered the regular burrito with steak.  It was big and, not only that, quite flavorful!  I was surprised to find that tortilla chips also came with the burrito...making the price seem quite reasonable.

The chips also provided me with the opportunity to try a number of their salsas.  I stuck mostly with the mild and medium flavors.  I probably should have tried a few of the hotter salsas, as I did find the mild and medium ones just a little too sweet for my liking.

The service could have been a little more friendly, but overall I had a decent experience.  I won't drive all the way across town for it, but if I'm in the area and needing lunch, I'm sure I'll be back.

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

Everything about the Shaker Village was a great experience.

We began our tour by eating at the Trustee's restaurant.  An earlier reviewer noted that the "food was overpriced."  That may be if you are expecting a quick bite to eat, but if you go knowing you are in store for a great dining experience, I'm sure you will not be disappointed by either the price or the quality of the food.  Our lunch was simply phenomenal and the best dining experience of our vacation in KY!

The village itself is a restored "Shaker" community.  Being a Presbyterian minister, I very much enjoyed learning about the faith and beliefs of this particular uniquely American religious community and how those beliefs informed their life together.  Each portion of our tour was informative and well done.

After a full day of driving on the road from Iowa to KY for a week of vacation, this place really hit the spot.  While the menu was a bit overwhelming with so many choices and combinations of ethnic foods, our selections were quite good.  My East meets West Fajitas were a wonderful and tasty concept.

There was a strange service snafu when it became clear that two waitresses were fighting to serve our table, each one insisting that they were our waitress.  After we got that straightened out the rest of our dining experience was fine.

If I lived in L'ville I'd probably want to try this place a few more times before I rated it, 1st to get a better sample of its expansive menu (I wondered can they do everything well?) and 2nd to see if our strange service experience was normal or not.

We were worried when we arrived here on a Tuesday night at 6:30 and absolutely no one was here.   Business eventually did pick up halfway through the meal.

Our dining selections were fine.  While my order of Chicken Masala seemed to lack a certain punch, my wife's selection of grilled trout was excellent.

Out of the three places we ate during our stay in Bardstown - though none were exceptional - I think this one was probably the best.

Smokin!

The Memphis style ribs with the house's BBQ sauce were fantastic.  Complimenting corn bread and cole slaw were great too.

There were so many things on the menu that sounded worth trying that my only regret is that I live in Cedar Rapids and probably won't make it back for a while.

The only reason I'm not giving this place a five is that our waiter didn't re-fill our beverages until the meal was over.
