Came here with a few buddies a couple times for a little week night hootenanny aka TNR aka Tuesday night ragerrrrrrrs!

Young wipper snappers, listen up! Here's a crash course on the type of tunes they play on a Taco Tuesday.

Here's a short list of jams that are GUARENTEED to play @ Taco Tuesday! Thats right, I said Guarenteed!

Bon jovi -"Living on a prayer"
Neil Diamond - "Sweet Caroline"
Journey- "Don't stop believing"
Don McLean - "American Pie"
Paper boy- " Dittyy"

If you don't have these songs memorized by the time you check this place out, your ass is grass because when they play the jams, you'll feel left out.

Typhoon Saloon is pop lock and droppin' on Taco Tuesday. Get there early. Like 930-945 early before the $5 cover charge. Lines get long.

    *UPDATE*

They turned off the escalators at the entrance!! I think they read my review! haha

I've been coming to this location a lot lately *sticks out leg. Slaps and shakes thigh... with hands placed over head* (what's this pose called!?)  and I've noticed a few things.

    - Friendliest staff of every 24 hour location I've been to in SD.
    - Weight room has about 8 Flat benches and about 5 incline benches.
    - haha my homie Seth pointed this out. Old dudes put their towels over their necks when they hop out the shower.
    1. Why do they do that?!
    2. Why did he notice that!?!??
    - If you prefer to workout in an empty gym... come here from 12-4pm on the weekends or on Friday evenings.
    - People will strike up a convo if you're rockin' a sport shirt of any kind.
    - Oh and the trio that takes spin class regularly... yeah... They're hot! *faints*

    PL 24 you're my fave.

    I just have 2 questions:

    1. Why the hell is there a escalator in front of the entrance to this 24 hour fitness location? (shakes head).

    http://www.coolfu...

    2. Why the hell did I use it? dang I'm lazy! There's a staircase right beside it! ah well.

Well, no matter which way you choose to get up to the 2nd floor, you've got up off the couch to get your workout on so congrats!

I've been to a bunch of 24 hour fitness locations around San Diego and let me tell you some locations need an upgrade ASAP! One location down south looks like they use old school weights straight from a prison! Don't worry, you won't see that over here.

Actually, they do have old school weights machines from 1970's stored in one of the rooms in the back. Some machines you'll want to try out just for fun and ask "how the hell do I use this crap?". Seems like they don't throw away any equipment because they have room for it.

Midway location is my favorite because everything is spaced out, staff is really cool, and the parking isn't much of a issue here.

2 stars for my 2 tears...

=**(

I love the food. I like the prices.I hate the parking on weekends.

I came on 6 days post operation (on crutches) looking to order a few rolls to go.

Came in. Ordered the Love-Volcano and  two crunchy roll. Paid.. waited.

Moments later.. foods ready. One large back stuffed with 3 large styrofoam containers with 3 miso soups.

Now, I was on crutches... there was 3 employees chillin near the front counter.. None of them offered help (which I would have declied) but dang, can y'all at least offer a crippled guy some assistance!? I even tipped y'all for a togo order.

I almost dropped my soup! =**(

Skydive San Diego

Category: Skydiving

Ohhh babyyyyy !!!  Best thing I've done so far!!

Wednesday 7/29/2010:
I made an appointment the day before for 1pm. paid a $30 deposit over the phone and I was booked. Easy as that!
Mood: excited!!  Couldn't wait to go up 13,000 ft and jump out of a perfectly good airplane!

Thursday 7/30/2010:
I arrived around 12:30 for my 1 o'clock appointment. Checked in, signed and initialed and waited to get trained and suited up.

(Over Intercom) For all of those who need to be trained for a tandem jump, please meet in the training area.

After the very brief training session, I headed over to get suited up in a harness.

As I patiently waited there for about 30 minutes waiting other skydivers come in and land. I couldn't help but notice everyone doing SOLO jumps (a lot of military guys and a few girls)! A lot of them coming in at top speed like a bat outta hell and landing safe and sound! Ohhh crap!
Mood: mellow. I tend to over analyze everything and I waiting didn't help, I began to question. Mind you, I came here solo dolo, alone.

Finally, I'm called up and suited up by Blake (he's the one talking in the video posted on their website and says "Jumpin' out is like putting your brain in a blender. The whole universe is like vroooooom!"). That's exactly what it felt like jumping out! More on that later...
Mood: Sleepy. zzzzz

Shortly after, I met up with my camera/video man Ron and Instructor Sean.  Both funny, professional and chill dudes. Chopped it up a bit, then marched over to the plane with the rest of the solo jumpers.

"LET'S HAVE THE BEST JUMP EVERRRRRRRR!! WOO! (High fives all around) - One diver screams to the other while boarding the plane.
Mood: anxious. I'm ready to rock and roll!

We get seated and packed like sardines in the Twin Otter plane. Andddd we're off!
Mood: chill. Feels like a flight to Vegas. I'm chillin... Where's my free beverage and peanuts?

7,000 ft and climbing: Ron (camera man) scans the room with the handheld camcorder then points to me for a short interview:

Ron: "Chris, We're half way up. How you feeling now?"
Me: (looks out the window thinking...Only half way!? We're pretty high up) I'm getting nervous, I ain't even gonna lie (telling the truth)
Ron: You ready to jump?
Me: oh hell yes! (Sounded unsure).
Ron: (not convinced) Let's do this! (Our fist connect for a pound)
Mood: FOCUSED!

Up and up we go. At this point, I'm strapped in... Sean (instructor) yells out directions. He tells me what to get ready for, how it's going to be when we get up, and reminds me to put my goggles on. I nod.

10,000-12,000 ft in the air: "Door!"- Solo diver yells out. The door flings open.
Mood: .... (Everything's happening so damn fast)

13,000+ ft in the air: Solo skydivers are jumping out! One by one.
What a crazy sight to see. I've never witness anyone jumping out of a perfectly good airplane before... while I'm in inside the plane. (Crap! Where y'all going!?)

We stand up and walk in unison as we approach the door. Ron hops out and clings on to the handle out outside of the small plane.

I peek out. I look down. I see my feetsies hanging out the door...

I was NOT nervous until this very moment. Seeing my shoes hanging off the edge of the door 13,000 ft in the sky, I realized..."THIS SH*T JUST GOT REAL!!!!!!"

Mood: ANXIOUS+CRAZY +EXCITED+I HAZ A SCARED+ WHAT THE FEEZIES!?!

Next thing I know, we're out the plane and do a back flip!!

I see Ron circling us capturing us do tricks in midair. (Back flips, spinning, saying what's up to the cam)

Free fall was amazing! Words can not describe this feeling.  FREAKIN' BAD ASS!

5-7 minutes of a parachute ride. Then back on the ground after a soft safe landing.
Mood: Speechless.

What an awesome experience! Recommended for anyone who wants to face their fears.

(Checks skydiving off bucket list!) DONE!

I'm planning on going again early 2011! LET'S GO!

Shout out to Lisa T., Chris P., and Shayne C, for inspiring me to do this.

Royal Mandarin Restaurant

Update - 7/28/2010
ROYAL MANDARIN IS BACK AND BETTER THAN EVER!

Big ups to RM for making a come back after their tragic fire incident.

My department at work had our monthly pot luck / team building event today, so i decided to pay a visit to Royals and scoop up a medium size tray of S&P chicken wangs.

I haven't been here since they remodeled the restaurant.

Daymn, what an upgrade! New tables, chairs, a lot more spacious, brighter lights, tile flooring! "Oh you fancy huh?" -drake & swiss beats. All this place is missing is KYXY soft rock 96.fiveeeeeeeee playing in the background while you enjoy your orange chicken!

Medium tray of S&P chicken wangs comes out to a whopping $36.20. A few of us chipped in on the tray.

Not only are they wangs a hit at any family party, but also at work functions as well. Guaranteed to satisfy, please, and blow minds of those who haven't sunk their teeth into these babys.

New hours: 9am-10pm, new decor, same location, same great service, same great taste!

Royals has been a home away from home for me. Been going to this place for YEARS! (Like everyone else who has reviewed this place). I still love their food and crave it all the time.  Cheap lunch specials/ Dinner specials with egg drop soup or hot and sour soup. OOOWWEEEE! My favorite is the Orange chicken. (special #8 with egg drop soup/ with 3 pieces of crab ragoon to be exact).

A friend of mine (Bolo) told me about the whole vermin incident while dining in at Royal Mandarin. He was likeeee..

Bolo: "Aye you hear about the vermin thingy"
Me: "Nah, what had had happened?"
(Takes a bite out of S&P Chicken wanggg)
Bolo: "Health inspector came in and found rodents or something"
    Me: "Ewl, you serious"
    (Looked at chicken wing)
    Bolo: "Yeah"
Me: " So why are you still eating here?"
Bolo: "Because its soooo damn gooood!"
Me: (with a confused look on my face........ raised my chicken wing in the air) " HECK YEA! TO VERMIN!!!"

    Bolo and I: "TO VERMINNNN!!"

I had a great time at my second yelp event! (It's been a while since YELP R.A.P.S.!) My First ELITE event!

Shout out to Danny W. for putting together another great party!

Special thanks to super trooper Shayne C. for letting me be her +1 and also coming through when she was feelin' under the weather!

Sweet 80's theme party, like totally hot outfits, and great vibes from my fellow Elite yelpers! Great seeing everyone again and meeting new elite peeps!

Loved Analog bar decor! Wanted to play some street fighter and hit some high notes on the mic, but only one controller and Karaoke was display only =/.

That's all I can remember before my vision got reeaaaaal fuzzy!

Damn those PBR tall cans! Had me buzzzzin!

Till next time y'all!
