Wow, attitude much?  I guess it's ok for the girl behind the counter to hold up the line flirting with two guys, chatting them up, talking about how she's not going to upsell them, but still continuing to talk and flirt and make eyes.  And I guess it's ok for me, decidedly a woman (last I checked at least), after waiting in line for a long time to get gruff, brisk service and have my drink order slammed on the counter?

Bitch.

No tip, no return.

How is it that I order a salad and it shows up after an HOUR with no dressing - and the receipt says "no dressing"!  Of course I want dressing, they totally just made that up!  And when I call to ask for them to deliver some, they say "10 minutes" .... 30 minutes and I'm still waiting!  How the hell else am I supposed to stomach eating this rabbit food, but by coating it in glorious fat and flavor?

Forget it.  Next time I'll trust my instincts and go to Steak't.

Dreadful.  We ordered delivery and were disappointed.  No, that's not strong enough a word.

Listen, flavors may or may not vary by region (and I suspect these folks are Pakistani due to lack of pork, presence of beef, and emphasis on kebabs.)  Here, however, is one flavor that I suspect is absent from Indian and Pakistani cuisine:  PROCESSED AMERICAN CHEESE FOOD!  Which was the filling in my cheese naan.  What the Eff?  WHAT THE EFF?  What more needs to be said, really?

Gyro II

Bad - bad!  All I wanted was a good gyro - I enjoy street meat but I had a hankerin' for real tzatziki sauce.  I walked past this place and thought, "hmm.....the name is right.....theres a cone of meat roasting in the window....okay!"

I thought it was a bit pricy but I hoped it would be decent.  The first sign of trouble was that instead of shaving the meat stick, they pulled some weathered meat out of some container.  They piled it with veg and sauce, wrapped it up and handed it over.  Already I was skeptical.

I took a bite - it was bad. Bad bad, no good at all.  The sauce is some kind of sweet, wretched dill liquid - no tzatziki, not even as good as the usual mayonnaisey street cart sauce.  The meat is lamby - ok, but stale and bland at the same time.  Undercooked, even, maybe a little.

I shoulda just gone to Astoria.

Two weeks ago, there was nothing here.  A week ago, there was a concrete slab. And now...

...there's an ice cream/italian ice joint operating out of a shipping container.  WHAT!  YEAH!  OKAY!

The ice is pretty good, but the place is adorable. What a great idea, too - must be way easier than dealing with building in this city.

And!  They're building seating around the back and the owners told us that they'd be adding espresso machines and such before long.

Just in time for summer!  So cool!  (HAHAHA PUN INTENDED!)

Seriously - curly heads - go to Ria!  She did such a great job AGAIN that I'm actually for the first time in my life looking forward to my next haircut :)

I have notoriously difficult, thick, curly hair which I am now growing out from a pixie cut to something shoulderlengthy.  This is not an easy process and I've found myself going in and out of mulletude, as the top of my head is significantly shorter than the back.

I got a little extra money so I decided to take care of the mullet in these horrible interim stages of hair growth.  I called, I asked who was available, I was assured Ria was a junior stylist who was good with curly hair and was available that very afternoon.  I'm notoriously cheap, so I went for it, although I had my trepidations.

Well, she did not disappoint!  She asked about my typical texture and day-to-day routine and she did the bulk of the cutting dry, never once brandishing a razor as so many lesser skilled stylists have done in the past.  I got a nice wash with No-Poo, a dry, and then some cleanup.  My hair is unruly but she tamed it!  I've been getting compliments since I walked out of the salon with my cute new curly bob.

Avoid avoid avoid.

All I wanted was a smoothie.  I was informed they had them and shame on me, I didn't check teh Yelpz before venturing out.  I ordered.  I paid.  I paid five dollars, in fact.  I was presented with the world's tiniest styrofoam cup full of icy syrup and after confirming with the staff that no, this was not a joke, I walked away dejected.

I took a sip...no fruit for miles - snow cone syrup at best, but probably worse.  I should have asked for my money back.  I should have thrown the stupid thing against the side of the truck.  But instead, I will never, ever return.  Ever.

This wonderful little place warmed my cold Soviet heart.  Yeah, there are tons of cookies, cakes, pastries, baked goods, everything by the pound.

You read that right - COOKIES AND CAKE SLICES BY THE POUND!

Oh, and as soon as I saw a pile of fresh oreshki, I went crazy!  I hadn't had them since I was a little mini evil one back in the old country.  I know, I know, you amerikanski don't know what they are.  It's ok, more for me.

Side note: no kartoshka, boo.

Just what this little corner of Williamsburg needed - another pizzeria!  No actually, we did.  I'm not a huge fan of Sal's, so to have this as an option on my way home makes my evil little heart sing.

The service is great, the slices are fresh, they are open til midnight, and oh yeah - THE BACKYARD!!!  it's huge, it's manicured, it's glorious.

Love love love that these guys are here.
