Off on a quiet side-street right next door to Union Square is this piece of Europe. Many delicious vegetable platters are inside, but like another reviewer said, go for the turkey cranberry sandwich. You won't be let down by this simple and delicious item.

Sit outside for some real European-style musical performers if you're lucky, then wander over to a patch of grass in Union Square for a pleasant afternoon after lunch. :]

Walking past this place you'd think nothing more of it than "Oh, another cafe." But then venture inside and walk downstairs, and leave that empty storefront behind! Downstairs is a bustling atmosphere with an amazing beer selection.

The menu is literally a tome of delicious Belgian beers. I'm not your typical beer fan and I'm kinda uppity when it comes to beers. But oh man, La Trappe has been one of the most satisfying beer experiences in my entire life. A Belgian beer hall in the middle of SF like this, is one not to miss.

New to-go place for pho and vietnamese in the city. Reasonable price and a clean nice environment. Get the shrimp rolls and the sweet and hot soup and you'll be a happy dude or gal. Also, the pho looked good.

Gotta go back for the seven item meal.

Lopez Restaurante Y Cantina

Lopez Restaurante y Cantina is run by my buddy from college. He always would say that he'd have to go home to help out at his restaurant. Finally, three years later, we ventured out to Monterey to visit his restaurant.

Would it be a hole in the wall? Would it be an upscale fine Mexican-fusion dining establishment? Would it be another Taco Bell? Our answers were solved the second we pulled up and saw the front. It was great. It was a mix of everything. The food was expertly prepared by our friend and his bros. And it was delicious. Damn delicious.

Family-run through and through, you'll be taken care of at Lopez Restaurante. Pick spicy, sweet, or a combination  -- Lopez Restaurante has it all.

I got the prawns. Prawn tacos. Yeah. Tell Luis "Go Bears" from Berkeley and I'm sure you'll be treated like a king.

Good breakfast here. Good brunch, too. Nice afternoon lunch. I probably wouldn't come here for dinner, if it's even open then.

Totally something for everyone. Slightly pricey, but that comes with the neighborhood. Good coffee, local feel. Pleasant inside!

I've been here three times in three years, and every time I go, I forget -- not a very diverse crowd, everyone is ultra-white (with your occasional asian person here and there); needless to say, the lack of diverse audience doesn't prevent the food nor environment from bein' fine.

This place is good. Everything served was pretty awesome, but it was also easily one of the most expensive places I've ever been. It's expensive food that's not offensive in the "look at me I'm super expensive and unauthentic" way -- it's actually good!

Tasty for sure. The environment is hip. The price prevents it from being a regular spot, but it can easily be a "take-to-impress" location. Not romantic at all really, but definitely happenin'.

Sit outside with the heat lamps. And if you're a dessert fan, don't miss their dessert menu for the cake.

Comfy. Tons of seating and young people. I was ready to give this place five stars just for how good of a layout it has before I even ordered my coffee, which I am now sipping.

This place is good and service is fast, but out of all the Ethiopian options in the bay area, it comes up a bit short. Yeah, you get unique items like okra here, but where's my limitless basket of injera? C'mon. I want my bread.

Don't get me wrong. This place is good. But if you're seekin' Ethiopian perfection, make the trek to Cafe Colucci in Oakland.

It's got a huge menu full of items at easy to manage prices. The plus side is that I all want to eat al of them. Nice big bowls of soba, coconut sorbet for dessert, sake, and more. Gotta come back and try it again.
