Only two women working the floor, and the guests were nice enough to pass trays from the sushi bar to the table. The guests at the sushi bar were obviously regulars as they sipped on their sake and traded Spanish vocabulary words with the Japanese sushi chef. I thought that was funny.
And the sushi? It's nothing truly special, but is good for what it's worth. You have the common rolls as you would find at any "chain" sushi place. It's likable, I have no complaints, I'm willing to return. My guest enjoyed the Cherry Roll, a fresh roll of salmon, mango, and cucumber and we both thought the Caterpillar roll's avocado took over the flavor of the eel and crab.
All in all, if it wasn't so busy, the experience of eating hear would have been a lot more pleasant. It seemed like everyone had a good time there, tables of people laughing and the sushi chefs joking with their customers. Definitely a place of regulars.
My wait was about twenty minutes. Luckily I have all the patience in the world and good company.

I was impressed with the workout equipment that is readily available to you in such an open space. It's encouraging fitness and outdoor activity, but don't think of this place as a gym. The equipment is located on the park's perimeter and is good for rotations. Since the Senior Center is located immediately next to this park, within the walking path, I thought it was very suitable for an older crowd, but also inviting for anyone who works out.
As my friend and I walked around, I thought the park was simple and beautiful, and I didn't mind the occasional person taking a rest on the grass or bench. We live in a city. There was nothing to fear of this park.
To add a special essence, at the end of our walk there was a structure near the north grass area of the park. On this land used to be the Pasadena Public library, and the entrance of this once existing building remained on the park. It is a beautiful sight to see traditional architecture amongst a nice city scenery.
It's small, but I think it's a great escape from the busy streets of this downtown location of Pasadena.

Twin Palms is a great place for friends, drinks, and good foods. Mind you, I was there on a calm, early Saturday afternoon, but it boasts of live bands, dancing, and evening excitement. Be aware, the menu is a bit pricey, and if that and when you hear a location like Pasadena leave someone's lips and it makes you cringe, perhaps Twin Palms is not your forte.
The venue itself has huge patio section and a small indoor seating, which says much about how social its customers are. For a more private, intimate meal, make reservations for the dark, calming, and romantic ambiance of indoors. Otherwise, head outside.
There are these machines that blast cool air, but on a warm early Saturday, the weather was nice to us.
The portions were quite large. I ordered the Chicken, Bacon, Brie Crustad which is diced chicken and bacon, layered with brie and baked in a baguette. Yummy. Cut into four slices and served with sweet potato fries sprinkled with kosher salt. I didn't finish my meal. *Burp*
One Best Friend ordered a salmon salad dish, which was just a large slice of salmon served with three whole leaves of lettuce drizzled in a soy sauce that wasn't overpowering. She still enjoyed the dish even with its simple appearance.
And, another Best Friend ordered a Asian Chicken salad, which had large chunks or chicken, mandarin oranges, and greens cut to mouth sized proportions. It was a tower, as it stated in the menu.
Dessert? Well, I couldn't decide so I ordered the dessert sampler. If you can get my Best Friend to use the word "delectable" to describe your chocolate cake, your dessert is most prestige. The creme brulee is excellent, perfectly cracked once tapped, and the strawberry cake was just as good. The chocolate dipped strawberries lacked sweetness in both the fruit and its chocolate.
They were happy with their apple martini and mimosas. My water was refilled on a regular. Total bill amounted to no more than $20 per person, and the service, from beginning to end, was on top of it. A very satisfactory experience.
Upon leaving, we ventured out to Colorado boulevard agreeing that we shall return to this mecca. Of course, around out pay days.

Moonlight Rollerway Skating Rink
Category: Skating Rinks
Neighborhood: Glendale
Bring your own skates or rent, all foot-wheels are welcomed! Fall a few times, pick yourself up, it's all in good fun.
The DJ takes requests, and there is a referee to make sure you don't stop at the edges just to stop. He encourages you to keep going either through words or through a look your mother would give you. He's there for safety and support and breezes throughout the place anywhere from behind the skate counter to the skate rink.
You will be surrounded by pros. Some look like average joes gliding on the floor, others look like girls from the LA Derby team. One guy was gliding in the middle with skill, another showed up in his inline skates swerving in-between the rookies (show off), and we cheered on a guy who tried to skate backwards looking like he was doing the robot. All good fun and definitely a place where you shouldn't be afraid to look like a fool. I fell TWICE. Once over my own shoelaces (be sure those suckers are tied) and the second time only out of my own fear.
You'll be surprised who shows up here, and everyone is out to have fun. The DJ hosts the night and takes songs and has games for prizes like a free drink at the snack bar.
Lockers are available lock your stuff, bring quarters to do so.
I definitely miss rollerskating and would love to visit this location again. Nothing too exciting about this place except for its retro decor and fun DJ.

I'm not exactly a fan, yet.
But, I have to give the empanadas to you! That was amazing. Light flaky crust, filled with savory meat and spices. Quite a blend that I never had before. I'm glad Marlon H. ordered it! Perhaps a take-out order is more likely.
I ordered a chicken sandwich. Sure, it may sound like your normal chicken sandwich, but I thought it was a great touch of flavor to include grilled zuchinni, eggplant, and tomatoe on this soft baguette. It was true pleasure.
I ordered the business lunch special which allowed me to try their amazing, vegetarian, broccoli soup. This "soup of the day" was thin, but not watered down, and full of broccoli joy!
Marlon ordered the Milanesa, lightly breaded steak, served with veggies and mashed potatoes. He must have enjoyed it, since he devoured the entire dish. Then again, he was hungry. He could not stop talking about the empanadas.
Seriously, you should try their empanadas.
It was lunchtime, so any other Argentinean dish would place in an inappropriate food coma. Although, the skirt steak chimichurri sounds delicious. Menu reads, "Grilled sskirt steak bested with a light Argentinean chimichurri sauce served with grilled vegetables." I don't know what a chimichurri is, but I like how that rolls off my tongue. But, the price of it at $17.95 amkes me want to bite my tongue.
But, did it really take an hour to cook Marlon's Milanesa (which, by the way, looked amazing) and my chicken sandwich?
Service was courteous and my cup of water filled. This place was not very busy on this particular Friday afternoon which made me assume that we would have received our meals in a timely fashion.
The lunch menu is not in variety and in price, and they serve hearty portions.
I'm willing to try this place again.
It's not bad at all! Then again, I really don't have much to compare it to. I am reminded of Philly's Best, so you may consider that a compliment to this location.
Now the menu brags of various items, salads, burger specials, spaghetti, Korean BBQ, cold and hot sub sandwiches, and even Boba drinks. It's all sorts of variety and this particular location has been around for quite some time. Variety may have kept it open for as long as it has, especially having more commercial competitors down the street. Still, it's a great place for locals.
Back to the Philly Steak. Great sliced thin meat, topped with bell peppers and onion, massive sandwich, but the mayonnaise on my sandwich managed to distract my tongue palette from the glory that is called a Philly steak. I'm willing to try this place again, since my brother is such a fan and hasn't had a Philly steak sandwich in a long time.
There are comfy booth seating inside, and the guy behind the counter humored my brother and I as we were both ready to wrestle each other to the ground because of our bickering over some nonsense that we usually throw at each other.
A pleasure to have in the high desert.
I know what you're thinking, "Melody, I'm heading to Las Vegas and I DID notice the Super Target, but what makes it SO super?" Well, I've been out and about throughout the Riverside/Inland Empire/High Desert area and it's true, SUPER Targets are located out there. I discovered that the popular likes of Wal-Mart and Target have decided to add the word SUPER in front of its brand. What makes it super? They have (super)markets inside.
That's pretty much it.
In addition to the regular grocery items, Super Targets carry their special Archer Farms products, including produce, meats, and desserts.
Target maintains its Target values in products and customer service, and continues to have everything in its store. As you head to Las Vegas and you discover you forgot something at home, keep heading up the 15 North and you'll eventually hit see the infamous Super Target symbol. MAIN STREET is the first exit before you arrive at BEAR VALLEY ROAD - which has a lot more places to eat, shop, and chill - but MAIN STREET has the Super Target.
Frankly, in comparison to other SUPER Targets, this one is neatly organized and clean. You will have a bunch of local college eye-candy working the store, along with older once-upon-a-time eye-candy, and it seems their customer service is the usual respectful and responsive to customer needs.

Little Cave
Categories: Dive Bars, Lounges, Pubs
Neighborhood: Highland Park
The Little Cave is a small bar formerly known as Richards (maybe 10+ years back). The place itself lives up to its name in decor, bat stencils on the red walls of its bathroom, dark corners for devious flirting, and a back patio where a drunken girl can not differentiate between indoor and outdoor voices.
Still, I had a blast and the music was GREAT! Two DJs were available that night and they made a smooth transition between sets. The drinks were up to my standards, with bars located inside and outside. The more variety of liquor is inside. Plus, you have an old school arcade game of Pacman (if I recall correctly) at the corner of the patio entrance.
The crowd is quite diverse in age. People arrive in clumps thus having a clique-ish type of crowd, so I highly recommend that you show up in a small group. There's always room to walk away from the loud crazy drunken girl who loaded up on drinks of Jack and Coke.
Bathrooms are small, lines can be long.
Approach the bar like you would any other bar.
Ample street parking is available and if you feel like taking the Metro, the train is not too far from the Little Cave. I had a friend who bar hopped his way to bars throughout LA, including the Little Cave, by metro. No cover charge or dress code, but if you act like an punk upon arrival, they may change that, so don't ruin it for the rest of us.
Overall, good times will be calling me back to this location.

This location is off of the Bear Valley Road on Hesperia Road, near Hesperia and Apple Valley, located in Victorville. There's always someone available to help you out as soon as you walk in. Briefly discuss your car needs, finances, and what can be done and you're on your way. The people behind the counter are just as fun to talk to as the people putting on your tires. This location is also impressively clean for a tire shop, with a nice little waiting room area around the corner, and a television which unfortunately is tuned to one station forcing me to turn off Tyra Banks.
Bathroom. Clean.
Tires. Quite reliable. I needed to replace and rotate my tires and lately, I have been driving around plenty. Between the rough edges of the high desert and the crowded freeways of LA it feels good to drive around quite confident in knowing my car and tires were given great service. Plus, the man behind the counter gave me quite an education on tire manufacturing and knowing when to rotate the tires, which comforted me in knowing that this location knew what they were doing.
I'm a Road Warrior, it's what I do, and I need to know my car is in good hands.
Informative, courteous, and trust-worthy service.
