Church's is ALL HANDS DOWN my favorite thing in Riverside. Are you kidding me with your one-star reviews???? I'm so offended right now!
LOVE. I found out about Chippy yesterday via fried foodie cousin and had to check it out asap.
The fried fish is perfect. BEST! Fries are good--nothing too special but more importantly no complaints. They also have shrimp, chicken, and calamari. I won't be waiting long to try them all.
Location is a bit tricky...It would be almost impossible to just stumble upon. No curb appeal to speak of since it's hidden inside a random strip mall food court.
However, that's part of the magic. Food court-borne fish and chips. Available only during business lunch hours next to an airport in Irvine. Unexpected and delicious. How can you say no?
Four stars for the food and an extra star for the owner who's both welcoming and friendly as hell!

LEGIT vegetarian Vietnamese food. This humble restaurant is a serious locals only-type hole-in-the-wall. Look for it--really hard--in the backside of a mini mall facing the Asian Garden Mall (Phuoc Loc Tho).
Its "ambiance" is a strange mix between your F.O.B. uncle's living room and the dark corner of a food court. Probably not the best place to dine with your small town bread-and-pasta-loving partner on a first date. But perfect if you're looking (who isn't?) to grab a meal alongside a sea of regulars, among them Buddhist monks and nuns.
Service is attentive and friendly.
The food! My dad's favorite is Mi Tiem, their veg version of Mi Vit Tiem or "smoked Duck Noodles." My mom likes their Com Tay Cam ("rice in Clay Pot with combination") where the rice is cooked in a clay pot to get that delicious layer of burnt crispy rice at the bottom. I like their Cha Thang Long, which is vegetarian fish fried "Thang Long" style with a fistful of dill. Lau ("Hot Pot") is good, Bun Hue (no Bo or "beef") is good, appetizers are good, food is good, life is good, it's all good. Try it all.
Parking is terrible. Also, don't be discouraged if it takes a while to find the place. It'll be worth it. If driving in circles around Bolsa is not your cup of tra, I hear they'll be opening a second location on Beach and McFadden really soon.

I am in sweet bacon-status love with the bone out marinated beef they serve here. It's the priciest thing on the menu but SO WORTH IT. I recommend the ribs (pre-cooked) and pork belly as well.
Surprisingly, they also have a few reeeally good meatless options. I took some veg-friends here not really knowing what to expect but even I was all over the seitan bulgogi. Me! Meat-enthusiast!
The service was good, especially for how busy the servers get (I'd go crazy just attending to those little side dishes). It got even better when the owner came by to let us know personally that our meat was ready and later sent us a round of free drinks!!!!
Shin's obviously not your typical KBBQ establishment but that's why I like coming here. It's a nice break from your local KBBQ joint brimming with Mom servers and that clothes-saturating stench. It's even a nice place to lounge and grab a drink if you're not so hungry.
Soooooooooo I hear they've made the AYCE menu available anytime now. I'll have to come back soon/tonight/tomorrow/every day...

Can an Arby's ever be fantastic? Yes, all Arby's nation- (and perhaps world-) wide are incapable of being anything less, in fact, so stick that up your B, Johnny N.
Nglaccch, I'm so glad they got rid of the Rally's... From the outside that place looked like it could've been a treasured locals-only In-N-Out-like spot for good burgers... It was actually like all the more famous fast food chains but exponentially more disgusting and low-rate, if you can believe it.
Anyway, Arby's! I love you!
Also, if you have a dog friend with you while you're picking up drive-thru, the cashier will offer you a dog treat! Ding ding ding ding!!!!!!

The food is good and the price is decent. I wasn't too hungry so I ordered myself a strawberry margarita and a plate of the habanero hot wings ($8) because I was curious about the dry rub.
The hot wings were hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a fan of hot hot wings so I was satisfied, but no one else at the table wanted to touch them. If you've ever ordered atomic hot wings from Wing Stop, they're not quite as spicy but they definitely compare. But enough about hot wings from a Mexican restaurant...
The margarita was really good. Wish I had one right now... I had bites of chicken nachos, a carne asada plate, and beef fajitas--delicious as well. The fresh guacamole is great, too, although I heard complaints about the endless chips being too salty.
I don't know if I would come back to Yolos since there are so many other places to try in Vegas, but I would recommend it to a first-timer looking for fairly-priced Mexican food on the strip.

STRAWBERRY CROISSANTS. I've only been here a few times, but this is for-sure-x100 their best item. The cream is perfect--not overpoweringly sweet--which is the the true test of a good pastry. Get there early and get them FRESH while the cream is still warm and the croissant is flaky to the touch.
I've had it later in the day and it's still good, but nothing compares to a fresh strawberry croissant at this place.
One disappointing thing is that they close early and close the kitchen even earlier so only stop for a full meal if you're in breakfast, brunch, or early lunch territory.
Also, their baguette is not very impressive, especially for the price. I'd like to think that you can tell a lot about a bakery by its baguette... I prefer mine to be crunchier and spongier like the 2 for $1 baguettes you can get at sandwich shops and bakeries in Little Saigon. Theirs is the crustier, chewier kind that costs $1.50 each. Eh.
In the end, I wouldn't go here for all my bakery needs but sometimes I find myself wishing for a baker's dozen of fresh strawberry croissants. To eat in one sitting. Before going to bed. After writing a Yelp review about how delicious they are.

A little overboard in length, sorry. It's just that I went through a lot with my hair this past week...
My aunt gave me a couple (yes, two) bad haircuts over the holidays. Initially looking to keep my length, I went from having medium-length hair to short to boy-short. Oh well, I've had short hair before. No big deal. But the shape was terrible--think '90s stepcut in the back--so I decided to just chop it all off pixie/Jean Seberg-style.
My regular hair stylist is having her baby this month and my friends were no help with recommendations so I decided to turn to Yelp. I searched for hair salons in Irvine because I knew an Asian-owned place in this area would be cheaper and less fussy than, say, Crew or Vidal Sassoon.
Enter Cascades Hair Salon. 4.5 stars? Sounds good... My friend is a closet Yelper and, after recently trying this place, gave it 4 stars? Sounds great!
I called to make a same-day appointment with Naomi but she happened to be on vacation. I was itching to get my hair taken care of ASAP so I settled for Susan.
The salon was easy to find. The girls were really friendly. They wash your hair thoroughly before and then give it a good rinse after, which is great. They offer water, tea, and coffee, which is a nice touch. All these things I read on here prior.
When it came to the actual haircut, though... I showed Susan some photos of Jean Seberg and some other short hairstyles. After brief review, she started cutting away. She didn't ask very many questions about my hair habits, not even which way I part my hair, which I found a little unsettling.
Anyhow, in a short time she was done. When I put my glasses on, I was a bit shocked. It was nothing like the pictures... Longer pieces in the front, fine, but SPIKY in the top and back area.
I played around a bit to see if I could get the spikes to calm down and such... That wasn't really working out so I started patting the area and saying, "It's a little... TOO spiky... ?" But she didn't want to change it... She said that Jean Seberg's hair was too "old style" and too "flat."
We went back and forth a little bit, me in a shy and cautious manner and her with a "just trust me" attitude. Eventually, I gave up. During the whole exchange I kept thinking, "If it's still stubborn like this in a few days I'll just cut the long bits off myself."
I'll let you know how that goes...
Despite my experience, I'm still giving the place 3 stars because the salon is nice, the service is good, and it's SO cheap ($25 without tip). If I'm in need of a close and cheap cut, I would come back here, especially to see if Naomi lives up to her reviews... I would even give Susan another chance... But I think that's because I'm really easygoing about my hair. Anyone else I know probably would've run out of the salon crying.

Second mostly because I love their fries (see photo)!
I usually switch off between the Italian sub because I like their cold cuts and the hamburger because it's cheap.
This is not one of those places where you get excited to "try everything" even though they offer pretty much...everything.
For instance, I'm not sure what 1-star dude was thinking when he ordered a Philly cheesesteak. Even Philly cheesesteak places are known to make a bad Philly cheesesteak, dummy.
And...nice family...and...arcade games.
