First time here. Awesome, friendly and compassionate service (no surprise for a vegan restaurant).

I tried the lemongrass tofu with brown rice, and the won tons.  Excellent!!!

Coming back, and this Loving Hut is only 5 minutes from my house!

Every time we make it up to San Francisco, we drop by Tai Chi Restaurant and make sure we order their General Cho's Chicken and their vegetarian Eggplant and Tofu dish (the sauce is to-die-for).

They expanded last time I was there, but when we first dined there it was a little hole-in-the-wall establishment.  But, regardless, the food has always been consistently awesome!

FOX 5 San Diego - KSWB

for the record. i seldom watch tv.  if i do it's movies on Blu-ray or gaming.

and about the only time i watch Fox 5 San Diego is when there's an NFL game or to watch the morning news show with Raoul, Shally, Chrissy, Matt, Heather and company.

i think the morning news team is a truly great team.  they keep it entertaining and fun.  i see there are some negative reviews about Chrissy but i am feeling quite the opposite.  sure, she's sexy and attractive, as all the femmes on the show, but she also comes across as intelligent, witty, and fun... and her delivery of the weather and traffic reports are spot on, in my humble opinion.

if you don't like what they're doing there, quit the whining and watch another morning news show if you think it's better.  i've seen them all here in San Diego, and i think the others pale somewhat compared to Fox 5...

whatever you're doing Fox 5, keep it up, because i think it's different, refreshing and entertaining...  and FUN!  gotta keep it fun! :o)

Had the Red Curry with Scallops and Prawns and it was delicioius!!!

They will accomodate your spicy/hot sensitivity by asking how you want it.  I like mine medium so around "5", and it was pretty spicy but bearable for me...  Had the spring rolls with that too, and a merlot...  a great dinner!

I had the Yellow Curry here...  vegetarian option.

Overall, the food was excellent!!!  I don't like my curry dishes super spicy and hot, so I asked for medium, and they were right on the money.

With the vegetarian yellow curry I got an assortment of vegetables with large squares of tofu.  Two cups of steamed rice garnished with carrot slices.  I also received a fresh garden salad with an excellent light dressing, and an egg roll.

Service was excellent and the owner and staff are very friendly.

They feature "live" jazz music on Wednesday nights, and the restaurant is open until 3am in the morning, great for people coming from a show or the movies who want to take in a late night dinner.

The ambience is nice, and the owner also has another Kitima restaurant in La Jolla.  The place is casual dining.

I definitely will be coming back next week!!!

Dollar Rent A Car

Category: Car Rental
Neighborhood: East Boston

1.0 star rating

Never again will I rent a car from Dollar Rent A Car.  They are SCAM ARTISTS!  Do a search around the Internet and you'll see what I mean.

I rented a small compact car for a week in Boston, and I reserved a car with them via Travelocity.

I took the red-eye flight to Boston and was very tired.  I believe that they know people are going to be tired and sleepy when they come in to pick up their rental car.  They had me sign on the dotted line but little did I know they had racked up additional fees and insurance and in the end, what should've been a $200 rental went up to more than $400 by the time I returned it.

1.  Their customer service is poor.  And they are very vague about what they explain to their customers although they claimed they were very clear about what they were having me sign for.

2.  Trying to contact their customer service department at the regional level was hard and they had me on hold twice, for so long I got tired of waiting.  I ended up emailing them twice through two different email addresses to try to reach them.

3.  They finally emailed me back saying it was my own fault for signing for all the extra stuff.  And they won't be giving me a refund for the extra charges.

4.  I've rented cars many times from other rental car companies and haven't run into this SCAM.  With Dollar Rent A Car this was my first and last time I'm ever going to rent one of their cars!

In customer service philosophy, the customer is ALWAYS right.  If they aren't happy with the service or if they feel (in the slightest bit) that they were ripped off...  the customer will simply go elsewhere.

Maybe they think they are justified in SCAMMING me and okay, they feel they are in the right.  BUT.  They lost one family's business FOR LIFE.  So, how much have they actually made off of me, and I plan to continue renting many more cars in the future...  but NOT from them!

Sorry Dollar Rent A Car.  You completely SUCK, and I will never ever again use your service again, AND I will tell all my friends and family to stay away from you in the future!

World Famous

Went here with the family recently, and overall my experience was very good.

Located right there on the boardwalk in Pacific Beach, we had a table in the patio side where we could watch the sunset and the ocean, watch people on the boardwalk and a group of street entertainers were doing acrobatics and juggling.

Service was very good.  The waitress we had was extremely nice and pleasant.  And the wait wasn't too bad considering the place was super crowded that evening.

My only gripe (which prevented me from giving a 5 star rating) was that their vegetarian and raw food selection wasn't good.  I'm basically a raw vegan and I only had one choice of a salad.  But, I guess that's expected from a restaurant that features "world famous" gourmet hamburgers.

Oh, and the parking can be pretty bad, but that's also expected since it's right there on the beach.

Overall, I recommend this place.

Heaven Sent Desserts

I haven't written a review here in what seems like ages.  So, lucky for this establishment that I return from my hiatus because I had to say some good things about Heaven Sent Desserts...

Last weekend was my first time there, and I must say I was quite impressed with the overall ambience and the desserts.  My wife and I shared one of their vegan chocolate cakes and a soy mocha.  Both were mmm mmm....  fantastic!  It was a fairly warm evening and so we sat outside and watched the people and traffic go by.

This place was recommended by a co-worker of my wife's, and I personally give Heaven Sent Desserts a 4 star rating.  I would've given it a 5 star rating if it hadn't been for the parking situation, which probably shouldn't be considered their fault anyway, but I take into account the location and accessibility.  And also, it's a tiny bit pricey for me.  But that soy mocha was to die for!

Cilantro Live! - CLOSED

Category: Vegetarian
Neighborhood: Carlsbad

I wanted very much to give this restaurant 5 stars.  Being a vegan who switched to a raw vegan diet,  I am so glad a restaurant like this exists to serve the raw foodists, and there's more than one at that.

I had gone to the Chula Vista Cilantro Live! a few years ago and was very impressed by the raw cuisine they served.  But the restaurant was pretty much out-of-the-way for me.  And so is this restaurant in Carlsbad.

Now that I know there is another Cilantro Live! in Hillcrest (which is more centralized for me) I'm going to go check that one out.

At this Cilantro Live! in Carlsbad, I had a Carob Mint Smoothie, and a "Cheeseburger" which also included a salad.  My wife had the nori rolls because she wasn't that hungry, and she also ordered (first) the Vanilla Ice Cream.  And we sort of shared all items ordered.

The Carob Mint Smoothie was "to die for"...  Excellent!  And the Vanilla Ice Cream was excellent too!  I seriously think that this raw vegan version tasted better than the old fashioned, cream laden version.

The Nori Rolls were quite good.  Pretty much excellent too, actually.  My Cheeseburger with Salad (in a light Lemon-y dressing?) was just okay to me.  The salad was good, but I didn't like the raw vegan Cheeseburger...  it was a little too tough and too "nutty" for my taste.

Overall the raw cuisine they served us was very good.

Now I realize that it takes a lot of work to prepare raw cuisine with the use of dehydrators and what not, but unfortunately, the food took like, forever to arrive.  And what made it worse was the place felt like a morgue.  No ambience, no background music.  The place was cold and for a raw vegan restaurant I think that's bad.

But the people that served us were friendly and nice.  And they have a nice Buddha statue and fountain that greets the customers walking in.  And I liked the idea of bunches of wheatgrass as table centerpieces.

If they could just find a way to speed up the service a bit, and work on the ambience part, then they would have a really nice restaurant that people would keep coming back to.  Because I had no problem overall with the food....

But unfortunately I would have to give this establishment 3 stars.

Like Risa has said, Robbie's Roadhouse Grille kicks some serious ASS!

Great ambience, great food, great beer!  :o)

I performed here last night with the Flamenco Group for the first time, and the place was packed and quite busy...  it has a nice atmosphere, outside and inside dining, and a very busy bar.

For people visiting Leucadia, I guess this is a place to "be-seen", as it seems like a very happenin' place.  Pretty casual, yet has an air of hipness to it.  Big screen TV, live entertainment.

Parking is tough, but they have valet parking.

This new San Francisco Mall is exceptional....  and it's conveniently located at the Powell Street BART Station.

I must confess that (as a native San Diegan) this SF Mall puts all San Diego Malls to shame!

Bloomingdales?  Are you kidding me?  ;o)

And the food court is the best I've been to so far.  Lots of great, gourmet choices.   I recommend Coriander Gourmet Thai and that Gelato stand close by.

The architecture is excellent so the ambience is truly awesome.  Love the dome!
