The food was simple, but great. Prices (small) and portions (big) were ideal. Oh, and TV is BYOB, so bring some wine with you ASAP, OK.
I won the night's contest, easily. My pot stickers and then Kung Pau beef rocked. My dark, sultry date for the evening went with the Szechuan Chicken... tasty, but no match. The TV atmosphere is so genial, my Peruvian beauty and I chatted for nearly 2 1/2 hours.
Our snotty, effeminate waiter was so over the top, it was endearing. It almost felt like he was acting the part. He he.
TV is genuine, positive and a find in Batavia. An easy 4 bill-stars.

PS - Did I mention the mango margaritas afterward? Ah, that's another story altogether!
Their clientele are captive b'ness folk, laden with corporate Amex cards.
Below average food and portions (ah, Woody Allen) and service and expensive to boot!
Blah blah blah... a review of my date, a raven-haired beauty from Peru, would be far more interesting. Sigh.
I heart Peru... yow, bill
PS - Yes, the "famous" crab cakes were good. No, not the best.

Wildfire
Categories: American (Traditional), Steakhouses
Wildfire has my favorite burger of all-time. I rassled one up for lunch last weekend. Get their regular burger and ask for the horseradish topping, like the do for their filets. Yum. Sit at the bar and enjoy it with a beer. Plan time for a nap afterward. You can figure this stuff out, right? He he.
BTW, the filet with the horseradish has a strip of bacon around it. Ay carumba! You can order that if you're going to Wildfire for dinner.
So, #1 burger = 5 yelp-stars.

What more can a yelper ask!
Tango Sur is a steak place. I had the filet stuffed with spinach and cheese. Even typing it triggers an immediate Pavlovian response. Holly had a regular filet, which was great but easily bested by my (drool drool) spinach-stuff steak menagerie.
Our appetizer was some meat-filled pastry concoction. Sorry, I don't remember the name. They had 4 flavors: beef, chicken, spinach, and ham. Try them all. Oh, and they're bigger than you'd think. So, bring someone to share all the goodness with.
In fact, all the portions were large. Holly had a whole 'nother filet, it seemed, to take home to her skillet. Prices for a Chicago restaurant were very reasonable.
Tango Sur is a 4+/5- experience. The place's nice vibe put me over the edge into 5-star territory. Check it out.

Francesca's at The Promenade
Category: Restaurants
I went on a Tuesday to celebrate the 39th of an extremely attractive young lady (thank you very much). Hey, you only get to celebrate your 39th once (wink), so it was a special occasion. Francesca's did her part with Tuesday being 1/2 off bottle of wine night. YOW!
I'm not going into appetizer/dinner detail... it's Francesca's, pretty much just like in Chicago or Naperville or whatever. It's AMAZING! C'mon. The Bolingbrook location has a very nice decor (what restaurant used to be here, I can't even remember), and I'd say it's a little more relaxed than Naperville (surprise).
Go Tuesday, and say "Hey" if you see me. If 1/2 off a bottle of wine is a great deal, then 1/2 off 2 bottles is like twice as good.

I see a couple-a 5-star reviews for Capri. Woah Nelly. This is a really nice 3-star family place... with the big portions and the kitschy decor and all.
Mozy won the evening's sparring with the biggest pork chop I've ever seen in my life... two meals in one. My fancy tortellini was good, but ordinary.
Mozy made a nice comeback with the chop, actually. He was struggling early when he loaded up his iced tea with Parmesan cheese. "Um Moz. That's not sugar, you know." "Uh. Wuh"
Very nice service and very nice 3-stars.
Chow and caio.

Anyway, the food was really great, and our waiter was very nice. He did a nice job of explaining the menu options/setup and recommending various tasty treats. If you have sushi phobia, they seem on a mission to make it easy to figger out and order.
I encourage you to focus on the repeating words in the menu. I won the evening's unspoken, but clearly present, ordering competition with my "Tuna Tuna Salmon" selection. The waiter talked me out of Yaki Yaki (or something like that), which I feel would have been another sure winner.
The weirdest thing about Marai is the decor. Holly described it as "modern". I don't know about all that; my Subaru has more ambiance than this place.
"poison... poison... tasty fish!"... 4 yelp-stars!

Holly and I had a great server girl on our birthday47 soiree. I ordered the filet medium well and she waved me off. Medium rare was as high as she was willing to go. She assured me I'd like it, and I did. She was very nice.
The food highlight... maybe the mussels appetizer or lavender champagne cocktail or Holly's chorizo or my filet in bernaise sauce or... oh, you get the idea.
I'd say that if the dessert was really killer (it was good, not great), they'd have had their 5 yelp-stars. That said, rock solid 4 yelps and I'd definitely go back again.
Meow.

It's a solid 4 stars... great sushi, excellent service, nice ambiance. My tulip Holly and I ripped the place up with 3-4 courses. Holly had the special white tuna tartar, I had the flaming salmon (with the sparklers), and my wasabi dish stood out as well.
Remember it's BYOB. We forgot but recovered that fumble with a nice Chianti Classico at the Quickie Mart down the street. He he!

They have as good a pasta as I've found. You know what I usually order at Angeli's... just spaghetti with meatball. Outstanding.
The atmosphere is great. Sit at the bar. Really friendly.
